  • The Porsche 718 Spyder is pretty well perfection in my book. A usable 414 hp naturally aspirated engine, crisp precise handling, crazy good looks and of course, it convertible for those who prefer a topless ride.

In the EU we can use the remote it rolls the windows dons a bit, opens the roof and the rear deck, so you dont have to go into the car.

    Great review. This is a one of a kind driver’s car. There isn’t another car produced today like this set up, as far as I can tell. Mid-mount engine, naturally aspirated 4-liter boxer engine that can be mated with 6-spd manual gear box, 2-seater, open top, that you can get a carbon fiber bucket seats and carbon ceramic brakes. On top of that, this thing is gorgeous, more so in person than photos and videos. It drives sublimely, perfectly balanced between chassis and power, sonorous high-rev engine note, perfect driving position and ideally set up pedals & gear box. I’ve got mine in 2020 and haven’t regretted one single mile of its 8000 ODO miles. It is by far the best driving Porsche I’ve ever driven out in the canyons on a sunny Sunday morning. If you find one, get it. You will not regret it. I recommend the bucket seats. It really connects you to the car so much better when slinging the car around the bends. Unless you are an ex-large person, I can tell you that I often do 400+ miles in one day without any discomfort. I am 6-ft tall, 200lbs and I fit perfectly in the seat. I also spec’d carbon ceramic brakes on the car and they are amazing.

    If you pause the video at 6:28 you can see on the left bolster the scratches from where you push yourself out of the seat with your left hand. I avoid doing that by placing both my feet out of the door, then standing up. But then again, I'm a bit pedantic about these things. ;) Great video. I'm trying to decide between the Spyder and Targa. Two very different cars.

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @rogerl7533
      @rogerl7533 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pedantic, and wrong.
      The scratches on the bolster are caused by rivets on jeans, not by people using their hand to assist in exiting the car.

    • @yamahapilot
      @yamahapilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rogerl7533 It's from the ring on a person's left hand. I have a Porsche 987 and there is no way those are caused by jeans. I had to be careful on my car as that's what almost scratched my bolster.

    • @StandingUpForBetter
      @StandingUpForBetter 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Hugh MacIsaac Agreed. Still, having the ability shift your own gears is better than not. Could be Porsche did not want this to take away from the 911? I do have to say, I have a 2019 Honda Civic Type R and the shifter in that car is a master class of how to make a 6-speed manual regardless of price. The ratios are perfect and the feel is spot on.

    If you could have only 1 car, is this a choice over the 911 (2013-2018 for a lot more)? If so I will wait to purchase the '21 as it looks to be worth the wait and a worthy contender over the 911 to me. Thank you for helping me with my choice. I did drive the 2017 911 and the manual seemed to have a long throw. I heard the 718 is easier to clutch and the blip helps me stay with the manual. ;-)

    I own a 981s, with a six-speed manual, Porsche Torque Vectoring, PASM, etc. All the performance goodies, and more.
    My full-electric roof goes down, or up, in 12 seconds. When the rain starts coming down hard, the time it takes to put up that manual roof would make me quickly hate the car with a passion.
    The Spyder has only two advantages over the 981s. First, the more powerful engine, and second, the Spyder editions tend to appreciate.
    However, neither those would be sufficient to overcome that monumentally stupid roof.

      If the main feature you look for in a car is how well it integrates with your phone then you are 100% correct, this is not your car...man our German cousins are clever

      I don't even know what that is for. I have owned Porsches since 1989 and have 2 currently for weekends including a 911s cabriolet. I don't use any of the gadgets including my phone when pushing hard and sometimes I might turn on the Bose system.
