This is the new Porsche 718 Spyder, and Mat thinks it's the most fun Porsche sports car EVER! So what does it offer to claim that title, we hear you ask? Well under the bonnet, it’s packing the same 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six (much better than flat-four in the normal Boxster) as found in the GTS. What's more, it's been tuned to offer 420hp and 420Nm of torque!
In terms of price, it starts from £73,850, but when it has a top speed of 187mph and can hit 60mph in just 4.4 seconds, is it worth the price over the standard Boxster? Or should you even just pay the extra and go for the 911?! Stick with Mat to find out!

Yeah, winds me up when him and others do this. Like what do you expect it to be when loads of journalists have been thrashing the fuck out of it. It's exactly like doing a 0-60 but starting off in 2nd gear and not red lining. Drive it like Miss Daisy and you'll get good MPG, it's as simple as that. I do and get 75-80 in my 1.6 TDI.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS To be honest..... yes. Yes it is. Not sure what they’re up to at the moment. No manual in the new 3, a 4 that looks like a slapped arse, a 7 with a face only its mother could love, an 8 that is a shadow of what the 8 concept set out, a Z4 that is squarely aimed at SLK buyers, a front wheel drive 1 and 2 etc etc. Sigh. All very disappointing to a long term serial BMW owner. I don’t know what’s left for me in the range now, apart from the M2 - which is, at least, fab.
colin5577 the new 3 is very good but getting rid of the manual is a very foolish decision, the upcoming m3 with the manual looks promising though.

I am a happy to own the previous model (981 Spyder) and must say I would never upgrade to the new 718 model. The 718 Spyder may have the GT4 chassis and 420 bhp, BUT the "old" one sounds SO MUCH BETTER! There is also a huge weight difference , almost 400 pounds!!! The 981 Spyder does the 0-62 mph in 4,5 seconds as on paper and he driving experience is on a totally different level without those stupid particular filters. Thanks Mat for another great review!

The tips to have good start career is beside maintain good pointer, you just only need to focus on the subject that interest you the most, and must totally master it. Join event, tournament or any project that related to that particular subject.
Ignored other subject doest mean you let it fail, but make sure it pass/ or higher is better. Only focus on you favourite subject. Dont just blindly catch success. Let the passion drove you to success.
Then, you go to go to have good career opportunities in developed country.

@James Moriarty I see. So you computer engineering student. You know what, I really recommend to looking about cloud engineer/ big data engineer/ etc. It really2 recommend nowadays, no joke. I'm was graduate in electrical engineering, but there are too many electrical engineer, overload of graduate with less demand in industry, as company prefer experience engineer in this area rather than junior. Cloud Engineer/ Big Data has so many demands. It quite new technology as technology company nowadays all required cloud engineer. No course in university particular focus specific to become one. The close course are science computer/ computer engineering. I really recommend it. As so many demand, the salary quite high too. Therefore it easy too have career in big company. I really recommend you in cloud/ big data engineer.
I have just driven one of these around Scotland for a week with a pal. It was brilliant - just wish it was my car. You don't have to put the roof up when it rains as long as you are moving. The standard seats were more comfortable than my Audi A7! The roof does require practise to use. Forget all the hype about diffusers and ceramic discs it is just huge fun and astoundingly practical. I found this review when I was researching to buy one.

Matt Watson , this car has a type of launch contol. I think Its actually the soft limiter that holds the revs at 5krpm then you drop the clutch. Sport Plus , Traction off , Clutch in , Accelerator full in , Drop Clutch. No need to manually control your revs. That should give you the best launch possible. Thats why you got 4.7s

Of all car brands, who've had ups and downs, Porsche has basically been a continually improvement generation over generation, a refinement of the same basic thing. Updated, refreshed, and with the best tech of the time.

@Seki I think the 996 aged really well, it's still very modern and fresh. A 993 looks like a car from a totally different era, it's charming but almost vintage. The 996 on the contrary is a lot more modern and it seems recent. I also find it very beautiful. Up to the 993 the 911 had a very square design, the 996 on the contrary has softer lines that make it really pretty in my opinion. Buying one these days is a bargain!
@@einautofan6685 Good design is expensive, I remember Porsche were in dire straits during the time of the 996, for me the "modern" Porsche beauty starts with the 997 around 2005 - for the Boxter it's the 981 I am speaking of personal experience :)

I drove one yesterday and really i had more fun in it than my m3 and the Lamborghini performante I drove. I literally smiled the whole time driving it....I haven't been in anything better than it and I've been in Ferraris, Mercedes, Audis, BMWs, Lamborghinis, GTRs, McLarens, and thats it but the Boxter/cayman has a special place in my heart. I'll probably be buying one the Boxter GTS 4.0 or the Boxter Spyder we'll see how long I'll need to wait for Porsche delivery for each.

I've got a 718 Boxster (not S) as a courtesy car right now. Other than the engine, it's a complete blast. It's not that the car is slow, it's just a bit agricultural. The engine is not smooth and makes almost diesel-ish noises. But every other aspect of the car is brilliant. In fact, the 6-cylinder GTS is on my shortlist for next car and I've never considered a convertible before.
