He didnt hunt John at all John hunted Dutch down if he had just came to Dutch maybe it would have went different Dutch was at his best in RDR 1 he was fighting for freedom like always but in a way less noble form

It makes sense that he acts lost in RDR 1, like he hasn’t had a wash in days and drinks himself to sleep every night, I like to believe that last moment he had with Arthur on that mountain broke him and he never recovered from it
You could tell the guilt and rage got to Dutch over the years. Not forgiving himself and raging against other people because of that is what led to his downfall in the end.
I believe dutch after 7 years in grieving realized that arthur was right and decided to kill micha and this makes him loose all hope and he just doesn't care anymore it was not about helping john thats why he didnt respond when john said thank you it was about dutch regreting not killing micha when he should have
I look at it as Dutch shot Micah to help John because that's what Arthur would have wanted. After Micah was dead Dutch simply didn't care anymore about the money and he knew that Arthur would have wanted John to take the money so he simply left John with the money. In the end Dutch ended up the way he ended up because he refused to accept that the lifestyle he always wanted to live (being an outlaw going around robbing people and attempting to destroy elements of civilization) just didn't work.
I'm sure some people are interpreting Dutch shooting Micah as some last act of compassion towards John, but I think it's just meant to reinforce what we already knew about Dutch from the moment he abandoned Arthur; Dutch became a complete antagonist, and even the undying loyalty he was once showered with no longer matters to him.
Idk if it was compassion, but it was certainly an act of repentance and attempted redemption (heh nice). He leaves the money and everything, I think he intended to kill Micah from the beginning “What’re you doing here” “Same as you I suppose”

The money was irrelevant to him at this point. The money was tied to a life and memories connections and dreams he wants had that we're now dead. So the money was of no use to him. That money was tied to too much hurt and raw guilt. So he left it there. It just didn't matter anymore and from that moment I feel like when he shot Micah he died with him. That's why in rd1 we see how crazy he became. In This Moment he had truly died and became a former shell of himself. Dutch didn't die when he threw himself off the cliff this is where he actually died and you can see it. When John had thanked him he just walked past him blank no feelings or emotions. He couldn't even look him in the face.
Rockstar could’ve made this the greatest game of all time if after this scene it shows John in front of fort Mercer 1911 asking for bill and then BOOM you play all of red dead 1 with red dead 2 graphics

Honestly, I feel like Dutch always believed Micah was the rat once Arthur told him, but John showing up ruined any chance of Dutch siding with Arthur. If it had just been Arthur vs Micah, Dutch could've gotten away with siding with Arthur, killing Micah and riding off. But instead John shows up, right after Dutch convinced the rest of the gang to leave him to die because he wasnt "Loyal" enough. If he'd sided with John right after, it would've revealed his lies and he would've had to acknowledge all the shit Micah did right under his nose. He couldve sided with Arthur and still kept the gang together, but Arthur AND John? Never.
There was a camp dialogue between Arthur and Micah where Arthur told Micah that he would still miss shots from close range. Not sure if it's intentional but it kinda shows here lol.

I think Dutch shot Micah not for Arthur but for the fact that Dutch was played by someone he considered to be less than him, and in this broken psyche mindset he is in he figured he might as well kill Micah out of pure revenge
To me it's a look a disappointment and resentment. Its like "you were a son to me...and you stopped believing in me. You were a son to me i wish things could have gone differently but...if I ever see you again it won't be pretty" But he's also like "Micah was the rat and my ego was too big to admit i was wrong but I'm still angry, but I'll let you go since you came here to kill that bastard as well"
I really wish they hadn’t made Dutch to be such a “dickhead” in the end cause he’s such a cool character in the beginning. Even in rdr1. Really hoping for a dlc where we get to build more off Dutches life but I highly doubt it

I don't think so. The game itself shows why they were so devoted to him. Dutch basically raised them and even when he was going insane he held the charisma throughout the whole game
We're just gonna pretend the first game doesn't exist and they all live happy ever after and Arthur's death wasn't in vain and maybe Javier doesn't go crazy when he realizes Dutch went rotten and he can go live with them all up at the ranch and it can be HAPPY.

Sadie was more committed in revenge since it was Micah that burned down her house in the first place as well. 2 things that she hates were O’driscolls for killing her husband and Ratface for burning her house down. A couple reasons why Dutch never trusted her to get the Blackwater Money, despite not running into Pinkertons yet until end of Chapter 4: 1. His Charm didn’t work on her. 2. Micah was already scared of Adler and her capabilities developing into the story, so he tells Dutch not to trust her because he has Dutch wrapped up already.
Problem I have with RDR2 is that as the story goes on, it starts to loosely tie itself into Red Dead Redemption 1. Arthur plays a big part in johns escape and more so the running of the group, yet Dutch nor John mention him in the first game. I felt as if the game would have benefitted more from Arthur being the only playable character, and he and John remain distant like they did at the start, so their stories would remain fairly separate. I also think Arthur was more interesting as the gruff character with some subtle goodness in him rather than having him ‘redeem’ himself in a cliche fashion. Severely disappointed by the ending.
