हामीले यसपटक नेपाली राज्य र नेपाली समाजको बद्लिंदो चरित्रमाथि केन्द्रित रहेर राजनीतिशास्त्री हरि शर्मासँग कुराकानी गरेका छौं । उनी सार्वजनिक वृत्तमा लामो समयदेखि सक्रिय अनुहार हुन् ।
शर्माले एक बौद्धिकका रुपमा समाजबाट राज्यतर्फ नियालेका छन्, अनि राज्यको महत्वपूर्ण ओहोदामा बसेर समाजलाई हेरेका पनि छन् । उनी २०४६ सालमा प्रजातन्त्र पुनःस्थापना भएपछिका प्रथम निर्वाचित प्रधानमन्त्री गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालाका प्रमुख सचिव थिए । अनि, गणतन्त्र नेपालका प्रथम राष्ट्रपति डा. रामवरण यादवको राजनीतिक तथा परराष्ट्र मामिला सल्लाहकार ।
शर्मा हाल पूरक एसिया नामक संस्थाका कार्यकारी निर्देशक छन् । यसअघि उनी अलायन्स फर सोसल डाइलगको कार्यकारी भूमिकामा थिए । उनी सोसल साइन्स बहाःका बोर्ड सदस्य पनि हुन् ।
शर्माले भारतको पञ्जाब विश्वविद्यालयबाट राजनीतिशास्त्रमा स्नातक र नेपालको त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालयबाट राजनीतिशास्त्रमा स्नातकोत्तर गरेका छन्। उनी कर्नेल विश्वविद्यालयमा फुलब्राइट स्कलर पनि थिए । उनी 'पोलिटिकल लिडरसीप इन नेपाल’ र 'लोकल लिडरसीप इन नेपाल’ नामक दुई पुस्तकका सहलेखक हुन् ।
यो कुराकानीको सुरुमा शर्माको किताब-प्रेम आउँछ । तर कुराकानी त्यतिमा सिमित छैन । नेपाली समाजमा अहिले देखिएको निराशा र आक्रोशको स्रोत के हो ? हामी नेपालीहरु किन इतिहासदेखि वर्तमानसम्म सँधै एक ठाउँबाट अर्को ठाउँमा हिडिरहेका मात्र छौं ? हाम्रो समाज र राज्यलाई खासमा केले बाँधेर राखेको छ ? शर्मासँगको वार्तालापमा यी र यस्ता थुप्रै विषयहरु आउँछन् ।
Hari Sharma is a political scientist based in Kathmandu with a diverse career spanning both government and academia. He has served as a lecturer at various institutions, including Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu College of Management, and Kathmandu University, gaining deep expertise in Nepal’s academic landscape.
Currently, Hari Sharma is the Executive Director of Purak Asia. Before this role, he was the executive director of the Alliance for Social Dialogue (ASD) and is also a board member of Social Science Baha.
His government experience includes serving as principal secretary to Prime Minister GP Koirala and as an advisor on political and foreign affairs to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav. Additionally, he contributed his expertise to the Office of Administrative Affairs and the Office of the President in Afghanistan, offering strategic insights on governance.
Sharma holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Panjab University in India and a master's degree in political science from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He was also a Fulbright scholar at Cornell University. He co-authored two books, 'Political Leadership in Nepal' and 'Local Leadership in Nepal'.
His research interests span South Asia, geopolitics, social movements, comparative political institutions, democratic transitions, and social dialogue.

Excellent talk 👏 you are right on constitutional values and mainstream political parties' failure to educate common people. Hari ji is absolutely correct on our leaders incompetency and how directly and indirectly they are weakening the system and democratic values.
Don't let ultra-rightists take advantage of current hopelessness and frustration, and lead Nepal to disaster.
I appreciate Sudhir sir inviting a great political analyst Hari Sharma. It was an interesting conversation in the beginning with a heavy background in political enthusiast. He copiously elaborated his knowledge and experience in politics for a long time. However, a pessimist will never be a political scientist, comprehensively disappointment and frustration are universal human experiences. Academic circles are an indispensable part of the country. So a moving society always believes in a good future. The progressive political posturing of Nepal is so often dominated by “Male, Pale and Stale” figures behind the scenes. The new leadership of hope needs to break that mould. That should be the number one message for listeners.

नेपालि कांग्रेसका तत्कालिन नेतृत्वलाई संविधान निर्माणका बखत प्रगतिशिल बिचारको ब्याकअप दिने यस्ता ब्यक्तित्वहरूको कारण मात्र यो परिवर्तन र संविधान निर्माण सम्भव भएको थियो । प्रशंसनिय!!
उकालो डट कममा हरि शर्माको किताब चर्चा पडकास्ट सुन्न नछुटाउनुहोला।
नेपालीहरूको बसाइँसराइको बारेमा पहाडीहरू सधैं movement मा छन् यो opportunity को खोजी हो। natural ho भन्दै गर्दा एउटा कुरा यहीं पहाडको उपत्यकामा एउटा उन्नत सभ्यता विकास भएको थियो। यहाँ settlement नै थियो। अहिलेको राज्यले यो कुरालाई नबुझेर हो कि Hill Tribe Syndrome ले गर्दा हो उपत्यकालाई बस स्टप जस्तो मात्र बनाएको छ। settle हुने भन्दा अर्को मौका नपाएसम्म कुर्ने ठाउँ मात्र बनेको छ।
अर्को कुरा - opportunity को खोजीमा हिडिरहने हाम्रो देशको चरित्र यहीं हो भन्नु भन्दा हाम्रो राज्यले settle हुन योग्य गरेर देशको विकास र यहीं भित्र opportunity create गर्न नसक्नु नेतृत्वको कमजोरी हो।
साथै जनजाति गुरूङ राई लिम्बु मगरहरू पहाडमा नै settle भएर बसेको जात हो। रनजीत सिंह र ब्रटिसको सेनामा पठाउने पनि त्यस बेलाको शासकहरू नै हुन। अहिले पनि त्यही निरन्तरता छ। देशमा नै settle हुने वातावरण बनाऔ।
