  • Here is the Founder of Carnelian Asset Advisors, Vikas Khemani talking to us about his life… starting from his background of hailing from a small Rajasthani village, not knowing any life priviledges, failing at the job interviews due to language barrier, how he learnt English and the market jargon from English newspapers, lessons learnt from the Gita, embracing spirituality… and just so much more! So far one of the best episodes of ‘I Did It My Way’ with Sonia Shenoy… please let us know your thoughts on this episode, in the comments section below…

I just loved how Sonia as a podcaster is so involved and organic about the questions and has done her homework so well, at intervals it felt like she knows Mr. Vikas from his adolescent days. More than his answers, her ecstaticism to listen to those kept audience involved. Brilliant stuff. Cheers!!

Mr Khemani says that he lost about 5 Lakh rupees of his father’s money in the stock market during Harshad Mehta scandal and yet he claims to belong to a Lower Middle Class background. In those days salary of senior government officers used to be maximum ten thousand rupees only.

India has been growing since 1992 when we opened our economy during Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh period. The growth can further improve as we have a strong base. I find it odd that many people mention Modi as it everything happened in last 10 years. This is not to take credit away from current Govt, but the narrative to say we are only doing now in last 10 years is not a neutral view.
For example, one may have struggled to reach a good position In life coming from a humble background and his child has the advantage to start there. If the child ends up doing better that’s wonderful, but the pedestal the child started with can’t be forgotten. In fact the next gen should always to better than the previous gen.
The interview nevertheless was great for me. Would have appreciated if it did not end with marketing his new fund. That seems to have been the fundamental reason for this interview.

All interview was superb.... Most of vikas journey matches with mine.... So liked more... Still.... I am now not working for money..... This mind set must be change..... You are managing others money... You cannot be saturated
I did this mistake...while resigning fein job I told my boss...i am not looking for money... After 12 years I feel... It was most stupid statement
