The trend where people pretend to have seizures particularly struck a nerve with me because my mother has had Epilepsy since she was a teen and it's so uncomfortable and unsettling to think people are mocking seizures for clout meanwhile I was 5 years old seeing my mother convulsing on the ground and going into panic mode

My mother has been able to find the right medications finally and her seizures have gone from having grand mall's constantly (I definitely spelt that wrong sorry) she will rarely have any symptoms of her having a seizure besides her left arm shaking. That's normally like a starting sign but luckily lately she's been able to I guess like calm down to soothe it from causing a seizure. Like she'll go and sit and drink water or like lay down on her side and watch TV
My sister and I both engage in dark humor, but only amongst ourselves. We were teenagers when our mom got cancer and our dad checked out emotionally from the family, so dark humor was our coping mechanism for it. It's a private thing because while it helps us, we both know that it will offend a lot of people and we don't want to offend anyone or make them uncomfortable.
Also, there's this concept in comedy to fix the "you can't say anything anymore" : punching up, not down... You know, like, instead of making fun of women being victims of rape and sexual assault, make fun of the police and justice system that are incompetent. It's still dark humour, it still makes fun of the absurdity and horror of the world, but it doesn't just put down people who already are oppressed. It challenges the status quo. The rape “joke” that the buzz dude made was so freaking disturbing. I’ve never experienced something like that and it made me extremely uncomfortable so I can’t imagine how people who actually went through something like that felt watching it...
same. i’ve been threatened with rape and it’s so disturbing that it’s normalised to the point where people can make jokes about it and be defended.
It was so extremely triggering I actually got sick and terrified for a solid ten seconds. I never went through something like that, but that’s just so scary for me to even imagine how it must’ve been for people who experienced this..

The trend where people pretend to have seizures particularly struck a nerve with me because my mother has had Epilepsy since she was a teen and it's so uncomfortable and unsettling to think people are mocking seizures for clout meanwhile I was 5 years old seeing my mother convulsing on the ground and going into panic mode

Yes thank you both for asking. My mother has been able to find the right medications finally and her seizures have gone from having grand mall's constantly (I definitely spelt that wrong sorry) she will rarely have any symptoms of her having a seizure besides her left arm shaking. That's normally like a starting sign but luckily lately she's been able to I guess like calm down to soothe it from causing a seizure. Like she'll go and sit and drink water or like lay down on her side and watch TV

My sister and I both engage in dark humor, but only amongst ourselves. We were teenagers when our mom got cancer and our dad checked out emotionally from the family, so dark humor was our coping mechanism for it. It's a private thing because while it helps us, we both know that it will offend a lot of people and we don't want to offend anyone or make them uncomfortable.
Also, there's this concept in comedy to fix the "you can't say anything anymore" : punching up, not down... You know, like, instead of making fun of women being victims of rape and sexual assault, make fun of the police and justice system that are incompetent. It's still dark humour, it still makes fun of the absurdity and horror of the world, but it doesn't just put down people who already are oppressed. It challenges the status quo.

As a gay autistic man I am so sick of hearing "ayo" or "that's sus" it is just getting on my nerves, it is kinda offensive but its way more annoying than offensive. Everywhere I go I just see "ayo" if a man complement another man, like is it bad to complement another guy in a polite way now?
