Very Nice bike bro but your right not very comfortable to ride it’s the reason i changed my front end after doing that it’s a lot better to ride and even on longer trips are nicer now great video
Great information! After many reviews and going back and forth between buying an engine kit for my current mountain bike, I think I like this style better. It's soo much cleaning looking. I see BikeBerry is selling the bike plus the engine as a complete package. They are also using the BBR tuning engine I asked about in your other video. Is this a 2 stroke or 4 stroke you got? The engine sounds much quieter than your other builds. I am certainly interested in this bike and I am hoping the engine set up BikeBerry provides with it will be of good quality. Hopefully they might have a sale around Black Friday so I can get it. lol. Looking forward to your update on the handle bars as I am also on the taller side at 6 -1. I like the stock handle bars and seat though as it gives a kind of retro look. This won't be a commuter bike, but more a bike to play around the neighborhood and have some fun with. Thanks for your in depth detail videos.
Do you think making the F-Zero more like a cross between a mountain bike and a dirt bike might make this more enjoyable to ride? Change out the triple tree for more standard front forks and handle bars, and upgrade to a 29in front wheel instead of the 26in. Asking because: A. Haven't really seen anyone do it. B. I'm 6' and have the small bike problem, was wondering if changing the front of the bike in this way would change the geometry of the bike enough to make it seem larger for taller riders.
The Zeda dawn forks are a cheap fork, the triple tree forks you got are three times better and stronger. Full disc you will appreciate when riding in wet conditions they actually stop you Plus the 208 mm disc is better for the rear, and if your building it yourself go for floating discs instead of stuff flex Cable disc brakes are easy to get used to,, start with them light and tighten as needed, rear calipers are installed with spacers between the mount and caliper, you may need to remove and adjust them to get proper pad set Now as to the frame, being aluminium if they did not stress relieved the welds then it will crack a 1/4" away from the welds,, keep a good eye on the frame I am one of those that warn people off these frames due to the fact they are " pretty" but not really built for longevity, have had two crack now , one at the motor post mount, the other on the down tube at the crank, both cracked around the welds. So far the only issue I see on the Phat85 is the crappy brass bushing for a wrist pin and not a caged needle bearing
Everyone is hating on this phantom 85 motor saying the rod bushings are blowing up and causing the piston head to break. Have you had any problems with yours?
Hey LA I just purchased an F-Zero frame. I think I should have watched this vid first. I'm 6ft 200lbs and I like to go fast. Is this a decent sturdy frame or am I just dreamin up in Canada here???
@LA Hover Bikes which would you hypothetically prefer or deem safer, spring loaded case tensioner or arch chain tensioner? I apologize if you've already covered this in one of your videos that I have yet to see.
I would say the motor mounted spring tensioner is safer because it's nowhere near the spokes. But not all builds can use them due to tire clearance, so the arc style may be you best bet.
I loved my arch style . Springs wear out and cause backlash in the case upon decel . You can tighten your chain in under 5 minutes . The arch doesn't fit all frames . The seat stays and chain stays must be inline vertically.
Hey bro just heard a couple times now the Phantom 85 is being recalled for the faulty wrist pin bearing? Think it was , I'm sure you already heard or can look into that, they are halting the sale of them or starting to?
in terms of tires youre better off buying e bike tires since theyre rated for a higher continuous speed as well as having a thicker casing and puncture resistant layer. many a brand sells these, for instance schwalbe has a wide range of them.
So, a Schwinn OCC with snow tires, OKO carb, 20T Sprocket, YD100 & Flex exhaust giving me 82 MPH... (edit: NOT ported) Thoughts? Just on longevity of that build? I have a beach cruiser which is built way more for RPM than top speed, just wondered what you thought of my "Schwinn load out" if you will
The middle post on my triple tree forks is threaded at the bottom and I’m having trouble trying to assemble the headset. Was yours threaded? Am I missing something?
What oil do you use for this engine? I can’t seem to find what’s mentioned in the instructions as “Valvoline Two Stroke Racing Oil,” is this the same as Valvoline multi purpose oil for two stroke engines? I also already have Lucus’s semi-synthetic 2-Cycle oil, is it safe to use?
My bike engine is leaking gas out of pretty much everywhere.. any idea what to check for first? It ruined the coil and it stopped working a day or 2 after I put a 36t sprocket on. Could my engine not take the extra speed? Its a 66cc
Hey hover great video And damn i was surprised when you said you wouldnt build that particular frame again Thanks for being honest Just out of curiosity do you think that taller handle bars (ape hangers ?) Could help make the bike more comfortable I mean i like the look of that bike but i couldnt ride it for more than a few minutes at the time all that leaning forward would just wear me out edit: fixed a a few missing words
I'm considering building a noticed bike using a built 212 predator bc I require an auto clutch due to an injury. I've built rigid frame Harleys so I'm confident in my my it work abilities. Do you think this would be a decent predator platform with a torque converter. I love the Cafe racer arsthetic
No issues with the 85? Been hearing there are bearing issues. Just got my kit in yesterday, now they pulled these kits. Going to open it up and inspect. Anything you found that I should look for. Thanks I’m advance. Looks great!
I understand completely different beast but what's your opinion of fatties with mags, given the 3 inch wide tires I would assume stress is gonna be considerably less on the rims with such a setup
I was wondering if you might know why all the sudden. The new 85 phantom moto is stumbling at half idle? Still on break in fuel. 40:1 I have tried joining the discord service and haven't been able to do that either yet. I checked the plug. It's a dark gray found the reed valve loose tightened that up drained the gas tank. Checked the filter in that. I pulled the gas line off the first time it seemed to stop stumbling for a block or so. Then started back in. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your videos.
Would you be willing to try out the Zeda Screaming Demon or no because the mags and the mount? Cost is much less at $469 and I'm very curious about quality...

Sweet looking laid back bike. Motor mounting might be tricky because where the seat tube meets the down tube I'm not sure how people make that work. Might need to make your own bracket for mounting, I'm not sure.
Apparently this dude is 6'4" same height as me. I usually forget that I'm tall and just look down on everyone, that is until I'm in the same room with someone a few inches taller. Very Nice bike bro but your right not very comfortable to ride it’s the reason i changed my front end after doing that it’s a lot better to ride and even on longer trips are nicer now great video
Replace forks and stem bars and normal set upgrade?? Smaller sprocket
That banana seat looks like a nut cruncher. Is it comfy? Thanks for the review!
It’s not
Lol if you sit down to fast... Yup
Oh ya. And we might.
@@LAHover Cool. :)
The Zeda dawn forks are a cheap fork, the triple tree forks you got are three times better and stronger.
Full disc you will appreciate when riding in wet conditions they actually stop you
Plus the 208 mm disc is better for the rear, and if your building it yourself go for floating discs instead of stuff flex
Cable disc brakes are easy to get used to,, start with them light and tighten as needed, rear calipers are installed with spacers between the mount and caliper, you may need to remove and adjust them to get proper pad set
Now as to the frame, being aluminium if they did not stress relieved the welds then it will crack a 1/4" away from the welds,, keep a good eye on the frame
I am one of those that warn people off these frames due to the fact they are " pretty" but not really built for longevity, have had two crack now , one at the motor post mount, the other on the down tube at the crank, both cracked around the welds.
So far the only issue I see on the Phat85 is the crappy brass bushing for a wrist pin and not a caged needle bearing
As a video game fanatic who knew nothing about bikes, I was initially confused by the title, lol
Nice
Have you heard abount the little bearings going on them?
You talking about the conrod bushing? Ya been hearing allot about them.
@@LAHover yeah I was think abount getting a phantom but they don’t do them in the uk yet
Everyone is hating on this phantom 85 motor saying the rod bushings are blowing up and causing the piston head to break. Have you had any problems with yours?
No issues so far. But have not been riding as much as I want lately.
Be sure to lock tight the bolts in your rear hub.. if they get loose they can destroy your rim and frame
Did you have any trouble getting the handle bar clamps onto the fork?
Regarding rims: I don't think the mags look better at all. Spokes are where it's at!
Hey LA I just purchased an F-Zero frame. I think I should have watched this vid first. I'm 6ft 200lbs and I like to go fast. Is this a decent sturdy frame or am I just dreamin up in Canada here???
I've been using 'AlexRims' on my bikes and so far they've been pretty good...
Yeah I have heard that to. Hope they get it sorted out soon!
To their credit, they acted on the issues fast instead of just keeping it on the market.
@@LAHover absolutely 👍
Did you ever find any information about what they were talking about the wrist pin bushing???
I'm just going to run the stock one. I don't trust everything I hear about it... Besides, it's under review and the review must be fair.
@@LAHover oh ok. See you haven't had any problems yet have you and when are you going to put your next video out
in terms of tires youre better off buying e bike tires since theyre rated for a higher continuous speed as well as having a thicker casing and puncture resistant layer. many a brand sells these, for instance schwalbe has a wide range of them.
that looks cool af
How is the phantom 85 running are you aware of the new issues ring problems and wrist pin it's a spacer
I also already have Lucus’s semi-synthetic 2-Cycle oil, is it safe to use?
wow
My bike engine is leaking gas out of pretty much everywhere.. any idea what to check for first? It ruined the coil and it stopped working a day or 2 after I put a 36t sprocket on. Could my engine not take the extra speed? Its a 66cc
Hey hover great video
And damn i was surprised when you said you wouldnt build that particular frame again
Thanks for being honest
Just out of curiosity do you think that taller handle bars (ape hangers ?)
Could help make the bike more comfortable
I mean i like the look of that bike but i couldnt ride it for more than a few minutes at the time all that leaning forward would just wear me out edit: fixed a a few missing words
I believe non of tank frames designed for 6'4" . Most likely 5'9-5'10"
LOVE YOUR VID VERY HELPFUL VERY DISCRIPTIVE
I'm considering building a noticed bike using a built 212 predator bc I require an auto clutch due to an injury. I've built rigid frame Harleys so I'm confident in my my it work abilities. Do you think this would be a decent predator platform with a torque converter. I love the Cafe racer arsthetic
No issues with the 85? Been hearing there are bearing issues. Just got my kit in yesterday, now they pulled these kits. Going to open it up and inspect. Anything you found that I should look for. Thanks I’m advance. Looks great!
Other than just tuning it, no issues.
The bearing inside will last a little while but its not the right material. Use bronze bushing 12x14x15.
I understand completely different beast but what's your opinion of fatties with mags, given the 3 inch wide tires I would assume stress is gonna be considerably less on the rims with such a setup
I'm 6 ft 2- 250 lb what bike do you recommend?
I just bought one a few days ago when I saw there overstock price :) but I don't think they will be that cheap for long.
@@LAHover Great, can't wait for your video on it. Your videos are very informative and thorough. Keep it up!
I also wish they'd get the other one in stock again...
Good point with the tangs my motorbike haS the drop out ones smh but if u shorten your chain first then udjust your motor u can run it withoutith the tensioner..ya mon that bike is Sexy asf def bring it in the house keep it clean dont let no rain hit it
I'm going to buy this bike and a good engine kit wire up a motorcycle headlight, a rear exit exhaust and use it as a motorcycle style moped. I'm going to have to get skinnier tires forsure
Great video, im kinda new to gas bikes, was gonna get the f-zero till I watched this, im 6'8", think I'm gonna go with the Macargi Mustang strech and a BT80 electric start, thoughts?
Sweet looking laid back bike. Motor mounting might be tricky because where the seat tube meets the down tube I'm not sure how people make that work. Might need to make your own bracket for mounting, I'm not sure.
@@LAHover bikeberry has a chopper mount kit, can't find video of it
Apparently this dude is 6'4" same height as me. I usually forget that I'm tall and just look down on everyone, that is until I'm in the same room with someone a few inches taller. That isn't often and my condolences on bike build options. To quote the bike courrier I bought my FSR mtb off of, "they really don't make any bicycles for someone your height". And yet here we are.
