How to replace Transmission CV Joint Drive Flange Volkswagen and Audi cars years 1995 to 2015
Well I guess that's one way to do it. I'll admit as a professional Red Seal Automotive Technician who also teaches apprentices in college, this was rather hard to watch... But if you're in need of getting it done with only the bare minimum of tools available it's gotta get done; but as a general rule this is not the proper way to remove a VW axle flange to get to the seal.
I’ve got a mk4 golf do you have any advice to getting the new cups in as I’m struggling to compress the springs
Was it the 5lb sledge or the Bowie knife that was the give away? I'd hate to think dude is really a doctor.
EXCELLENT video but why did you not keep going to show drive flange seals? or show installation?
Thank you. Interesting question. I need to find out.
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor My 1993 vw Cabriolet has this same manual transmission. My drive flange inner seal/cap has leaked out into the long axle's cv joint, causing the black grease and gear oil to make a complete mess behind the engine and hot exhaust parts. I will try to replace the seals and the round flange seal with the transmission still in the car.
Good work Peter!
Peter, You should have added the word NOT to Your Intro. I found that quite hard to watch. Banging away with the wrong tools and a sledgehammer??
Hello brother..... removing is easy...... but please show how to install flange back..... because it has spring......difficult to put circlip back with spring load
Thanks for comment
did it wiggle ? and what about the bearings where are they do i need to open gearbox to replace them ?
Do you have any film on how you Change the oil seal there?
As I was watching to get information, I was like naaaaah, this can’t be the way, no way.
👍
Hi, can you change the inner cup for a stub axle type? I’m doing an engine conversion and the drive shaft in cv joints are different

Usually, when a person gives themselves a title like "Doctor", it implies competent. You are no doctor. But you are well intentioned I'm sure. I intend no harm.
Thanks and Good 👍

My 2003 VW Polo (BAH 9N) Drive Flanges are completely different, they fasten only with a M7 (6mm Allen) grade 8.8 bolt.
Great work 👍😀
It was use ful!

you may want to know "the car doctor" is already taken...by someone on youtube with 65,000 subscribers. You should come up with a different name.

@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor real mechanics (like you) show how to make the job happen without 1000 USD of special tools. Some of these guys don't get it that we work on 69 different models. You can't always have the special tool. Thanks for your contribution.
Hit it a bit harder man. Come on.
Okay, I try 😉
WTF,,,? The car doctor? or,, The car Killer??? absolutely the worst way to do the job
