    I feel like a complete idiot. Out of nowhere I was having all these feeding issues and the more I diagnosed it the more frustrated I got. I was afraid something happened to my gun! I almost didn't watch this out of pride thinking " of course I know how to load my gun, but I'll watch it just in case" and it blew my mind lol great video thanks!

      @@crankskinatra6038 my main issue was slapping the bottom of the magazine, after that started, I began to ride the charge handle because my bullets were being shoved in two at a time and my casings were getting dented whenever I let the slide come back on its own. I really didn't want an accidental discharge from the force of that happening.

    Before I load the 1st mag, I always have the bcg locked open. I have in the past left the bcg closed then try to insert a mag but, I figured out right fast the if the mag is loaded with 30 rounds, it won't lock into place. I figured that out right after I bent about 3 casings. Full mag, lock back bcg. 28 or less no problems with leaving the bcg closed and inserting the mag.

      There may be other reasons for jams. One AR15 I put together in 7.62x39 was I found out over gassed and the bolt was moving too fast. Magazines with very stiff springs worked and those with weaker springs were double feeding. The cheap cure was H3 tungsten buffer wts. The best cure would be an adjustable gas system.
      I never abuse an AR mag by rapping it too much. But I do tug on any mag to make sure it is securely seated/latched in the gun. I think you can do anything you want to a steel combloc AK mag that were originally meant to be reused. IIRC the original Aluminum AR mags were supposed to be disposable.

    • @illestdomer2005
      @illestdomer2005 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I wasn’t riding the CH, but I know I didn’t tug the mag, and they all looked like type 1 failures. I was wondering if my p mags were defective, PMC ammo was defective, or what. Not surprisingly, it may have been user error 😬

    The smacking the magazine while in the well bit me at a recent 2-gun match. I was excited, slapping the magazine and caused 3 double feeds across two of 5 stages. A bad habit revealed by nerves and match stress. A match is a good place to feel this stress and identify these errors as it only causes a loss of time. Today I pulled out one of my loaded mags, smacked the bottom, and out popped a round. Will train accordingly. Thanks for this.

    THANK YOU. The easiest solution to my problem. I put on a new upper and I thought that was the issue with my failure to chamber. I was being too gentle with it making sure it slid properly I was riding the bolt. I panicked and tried it about ten more times trying to feel for any issues with the bolt sliding and it caused double feed. Never even realized I was riding the bolt and it was all just user error. I almost bought a new BCG. Even almost thought about taking my BCG apart to inspect. No other videos solved the issue. They all explained gas tube and undergas issues and cycling was not the issue. Just couldnt chamber a round. TOO FUNNY. Its like not being able to turn on the tv and you take the tv apart without even thinking about checking the remote control batteries

    i was taught to hit the idiot button once sharply after seating the bolt from a failure to feed. the only time i ever needed the forward assist was when i was first learning the platform and i rode the bolt in a weird way that put the round 95% engaged with the chamber. the extractor couldn't grab it and there wasn't enough mass to drive it the rest of the way in. my friend that taught me was amazed and told me it was probably the only time i would ever see the forward assist be the only way to clear a malfunction

    • @CombatArtTraining

      You can do it the way you described. I have another video about why I use the charging handle. Basically it works on every gun, it clears malfunctions even if you didn't know you had one, it always works. Bolts usually lock to the rear but not 100% of the time and even if they do the bolt catch can get hit and it goes home.

Some teach handgun reloads like that. Just got a new AR and have not shot it yet so I wasn’t sure if you could rack it when the bolt was already back. And holding it so the rounds always fall out seams like really good advice. Thanks!

      On handguns one is taught by many to retract slide for release and instead hitting the slide release because stress can make it difficult to do fine complicated movements such as hitting the slide release for pistols. I do it since pistol slide releases vary from model to model and racking slide will work all handguns. I do it also save to wear and tear since I have had slides that were not properly heat treated that wore out the catch area of the slide.
      Holding the AR up during classes and gun gaming is a good strategy and safe enough. If you are reloading behind cover or concealment maybe not.
      Under stress you will do as your train and will stick the AR up to reload giving your position away.

  • @jimlemon9159

    I seem to remember reading an article. After the Gulf War started guys who were sticking their barrels up in the air like that to reload were getting shot. I do it this way everytime. If you do different things in different situations, you have to think and analyze the situation which takes longer (study OODA loop to see what I mean). I have one option that I go for, so I just do that.
      You can hit the bolt release if you want. I don't because: I can find the charging handle on any random rifle I pick up, bolts do not always lock to the rear, the bolt release can get activated incidentally when not intended before the magazine was inserted (think about transitioning to a pistol and it bumps into your gear)

    I saw a 66 or 69 army trying film, it disagrees with locking the butt in your elbow. Do you find any delay in attaining the ready position from the locked-in-elbow position?

    • @CombatArtTraining
      @CombatArtTraining  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not in your elbow, stock is between your arm and ribs. Ejection port down allows gravity to help get anything out of the gun that would jam it. Gun up allows you to have a generally safe direction to point the gun so you can move and not get shot. Worrying about speed with reloads is dumb, because you should be focused on reloading when you want to not when you have to. But yeah it will be slower on a shot timers, however I'd rather be moving and hard to kill than fast at loading my gun. If I'm doing my part I'll never get an emergency reload anyways.

      @@CombatArtTraining no this was store-bought brass full metal jacket. I know everyone has their way of doing certain things and I am very new to the AR-15 I'm trying to learn everything I can because that's how I operate. I'm not going to go out to the range and show off I want to learn my weapon and learn how to use it. So I had a 30 round magazine and an empty gun I inserted the magazine make sure it was inserted tight the gun was not on safety which it couldn't have been. Pulled the charge handle back and let it go aimed at the Target pulled the trigger and it just clicked. Now the bolt is stuck and I can't get the charge handle to pull back. I counted the bullets in my magazine and there is one missing so I know there's one in there. I saw a guy do a trick where you put the gun on the ground with the stock put your hand on the charger and pick the gun up while you're pulling down the charger and just give it one good tap on the ground then it's supposed to release it but I just don't like the idea of banging my gun around with a live bullet in there. I want to know what exactly happened and what could have caused it to do this the very first time I was going to shoot it I will say that I didn't put any kind of oil or anything in there that might be with the problem was this was straight off the gun store shelf so I probably should have ordered up a little bit before I shot it the first time
