    Juan H. was the one who really showed me that you need to apply a pretty good amount of Contrast paint. I was using small amounts thinking that it was crucial to avoid putting too much on. It's dramatically changed the models I use Contrast paints on.

    Because GW sprays are absurdly overpriced (seriously, you can get premium artist-grade spray paints for less), I would add that priming with an airbrush will give you a perfectly smooth foundation to work with and it's WAY cheaper in the long run. If you don't have an airbrush, you can get a cheap cordless compressor/airbrush bundle for just 70 USD off Amazon--that's around the price of just four cans of Citadel spray paint.

      But also yes artist spray paints like Montana etc are amazing quality and generally pretty cheap from graffiti/art stores 🥰🐶

      The only time I would recommend rattle can over airbrush for priming for a large batch of minis or for terrain. Then again you could get rattlecan primer from your hardware store as well as a cheaper alternative.

      @@Valreg agreed! Tractor cans are great for terrain, if they leave some texture it makes it better, and it just covers so much area, doing a box set worth of terrain is so fast! 👌🥰

    Hi! Just started using Targor Rageshade along with constrast paints. I'm still quite a begginner painting minis and was wondering if it's ok to apply Targor on all miniatures just to get that deeper contrast look? Or is that overkill?

    Nice review Sylva, do the contrast paints leave a gloss/shiny finish when dry? I've noticed the old contrast paints can leave a glossy/shiny finish if applied too thickly.

    • @TheSixYardBox
      @TheSixYardBox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at pics of the orange that gw have been putting out thats really glossy I imagine others are too.

    • @sylvapaints4454
      @sylvapaints4454  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As you said if too thickly applied, yes I’d say they are a little glossy but I noticed that the new formula for nuln oil is SO much less glossy than the previous version!

  • @kraziel

    Suggestion. Next time you make a video about these paints, show the results when they're DRIED. People can't actually see what you're talking about, the difference between when you're applying the paint and when it's completely dried it HUGE, you can't really 100% judge how it's going to look/settle when you're applying, same thing with Army Painter Speedpaints. When you were talking about the leather paint, I really wish you'd show when it's dry.

    • @sylvapaints4454
      @sylvapaints4454  2 ปีที่แล้ว
