      Despite letting the car climb the roller which actually inflates the figure on a Dyno Dynamics.....
      The total inertia of the dyno is reduced when the wheel loses contact, the software doesn't know that's happened still calculates the power under acceleration with the total inertia of the drive roller, inertia roller and transmission.. It's about 20-30HP for free.

      Our dynos (mostly engine dynos and a LOT of them) all had to be calibrated when ISO9000 came to be. • @RWoody1995
      @RWoody1995 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheChris91173 It's nothing to do with forced induction, it's been a thing basically ever since engines became electronically controlled, think about it old school purely mechanical engines lost power over time for sure because they had a fixed fuel flow rate, timing, etc but electronically controlled engines, even N/A ones can measure fuel quality, temperatures, knock etc and adjust things to maintain the power they were designed for as long as nothing's too damaged or worn out in the system. Technically there's a grain of truth in what you say as forced induction gives the engine one more thing to use to adapt to different conditions but it's not the turbocharging that's allowing for that, it's the fact that everything's electronically controlled and working together.

    BMW maintenance and parts may be expensive, but they have produced some of the most reliable cars in history. I loved my 316i from 2000. I inherited it from my father and without much maintenance at all it would still top at nearly 210 km/h nearly 20 years after it was produced. That's quite decent for a 1.6 liter engine, I think! Other than that they are just such classy-looking cars, comfortable and a joy to drive. Of course I am biased, because it was my first car.

      Plus they're letting the car climb the roller which actually inflates the figure on a Dyno Dynamics.....
      The total inertia of the dyno is reduced when the wheel loses contact with the idler roller, the software doesn't know that's happened still calculates the power under acceleration with the total inertia of the drive roller, inertia roller and transmission.. It's about 20-30HP for free.

    The Dyno Dynamics are know for being called “The Heartbreaker” dyno as they are very conservative in the power calculation and probably quite accurate like the Mainline Dyno.
    The DynoJets are known to inflate the ego and power numbers by around 11-13% over the previous two mentioned.
    The Mainline Hub is the best of all but takes time to set up over the roller version.
    Looking forward to the future episodes 👍

      Honestly a hub dyno is just a quick to set up as a chassis dyno. Ive had a chassis dyno for 6 months and trust me when I say there is a lot of time devoted to making it work right on the roller. A hub dyno would be a time saver with certain vehicles

    I am certain my comment is “from the peanut gallery”, but just in case you haven’t had the thought, please consider this idea for that air filter; introduce a “twist” to the bibs/veins of the filter, from the edge at the outer rim attach point, twisting down to the cone at the center, and possibly directional veins in the inner surface of the CF cone. Doing so would further compress and speed up the air as it moves through the remaining pipe sections to the intake.

    • @whitemonkey7932

    That's a curated Dyno graph, 5250rpm is the mathematical correlation point for torque and power using imperial units, that graph is way off.....someone fiddled the data. Who fiddled it and what was the reasoning?

    • @pillowshooter
      @pillowshooter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not fiddled. The axis for HP and Torque are not aligned. The top of the Torque axis goes to 500 ft-lbs whereas the HP axis goes to 600hp.
      If you were to change the Torque axis to line up with the HP axis (which would push the Torque line down) they would cross at 5250.
