As a Catholic I think this is the best way to approach faith, cause a lot of people get in it for the status, money or simply they want to sin but are afraid to end up in hell so they "believe" and "share" the Gospel, there is a few that actually have true faith. This phenomenon is part of every religion or group, since most people want the rewards yet few are willing to make the changes for the better. Before anyone comes to accuse me, I'm not perfect, I won't be a hypocrite, I'm just someone that hopes one day all us will find a way to defeat our demons or traumas. May God bless you all Amen ✝️

The guy’s father is rich and he never had to work for anything in his life. It’s like David Beckham’s son retiring from soccer in his early 20’s while at premier league club. He retired a few weeks ago to do modeling. It’s not uncommon for kids of rich athletes to not have the drive to follow in the footsteps of their father. This is more like a hobby to them.
@mikeyjames These aren’t even comparable Romeo Beckham was a pure Nepo baby, who was only at Brentford for his last name. He had no talent, nor a future at Brentford. He was literally NEVER going to play a minute for them AJ Green worked his way into the nba, and made himself a first round pick. He had a legitimate future with the Rockets, and could have had great success with a good, young team
This is a celebrity with major integrity. Giving up on fame and fortune to follow a cause that you believe in is honorable, whether I agree with them or disagree with them.
I mean he knew he was good at it, but now he decided that his life is being steered toward ministry, I think that's amazing even if the world doesn't think so.
I wish all the people you mentioned in this video. The best. The sad part about retiring early is that you'll realize that even when you're pursuing all of your "callings," there is still plenty of time that you need to fill
Just say it, he wants to spread the message of Jesus! Not a religion. But of a person. I am proud of AJ for this if this is what he decides to do. We need more men like this in the world, and this is inspiring on many levels.
@@chrispfeiffer6905is not a religion, is building a relationship with the one who died for our sins. Many of these other “religions” are doctrines, created by satan so that people worship false gods and keep them away from the one and true savior, Jesus Christ.
Damn. I’m a physician and I would love to to give this all up and play in the NBA. I’m not alone in my desires. Despite the cultural praise of healthcare, alot of us want out.
I mean, this makes sense. People often sacrifice a lot for their faith. There are a lot of things in life more important than money and sports - and if you are already a millionaire it's easier to serve a greater purpose. I felt like a fraud sometimes when I played basketball - the crowd cheering for me when I knew that throwing a ball through an elevated ring was one of the least important things I had ever done in a literal sense.
People often forget how tough the life of an NBA player can be - 80+ games a year, flying all the time, often playing injured, not sleeping well, not seeing your family that much...Not to mention the expectations, pressure etc. It's not just fun and games, those guys have to sacrifice a lot. Some get lost in the process, no wonder so many lose everything soon as they finish career - money, houses, even families. Not everyone feels happy for having diamond rings and 50 cars in a garage. edit: Talking about the last days - yes, the world ends for all of us when we die, the life is short, and nobody really knows of how much we're left with. So we all basically live the last days and the end is near, no matter what.
Not hearing none of that basketball community is so soft he's giving up the dream tens of millions of kids have. Getting paid millions to play a game... a sport... to give it away for any reason in my opinion is ungrateful
@@Kocall-d8s yeah but is it really retirement if you come back? like i get how at the time it was considered a retirement. but as soon as you come back can you still call it retirement and not just a break from the game?
So tragic losing a young one like that. Feel the mom's pain. Infants and Toddlers can die of natural or unexpected causes. Pray she finds peace. Hats off to you for taking this look into the deeper aspects of his decision.
I think another key reason too is because they aren't giving him an OPPORTUNITY a lot of people put pride in their work, and for him to not be on the court for weeks at a time and not be able to contribute is definitely hard for him. There are a lot of people who refuse free handouts and free money, and want to be able to put the time in. AJ wont say it but he probably feels disrespected by the team, not being given an opportunity to play and prove himself. He is not in the rotation at all, and probably has poor relations with some of the staff. Its a case of "if you don't need me, i will take myself out the picture..."
Forget the money, I’m thinking of the love of the game. Hundreds of thousands with all their heart would love to be in the NBA. The man is blessed to be 6’6, 6’7, athletic, & have the potential to have an even bigger platform if he does well. He’s giving it up to focus solely on ministry. AC Green was on the ShowTime Lakers in LA(basically Sin City). He played 16 seasons. Hope he finds the clarity he’s looking for.
He's made more money at 21 than most Americans make in their whole life. His heart isn't in it anymore and he can live very comfortably for the rest of his life. Good decision by this guy.
I am a Christian and AJ is a beloved brother in Christ … this video was fair to him and his situation… praying for him in any path God chooses to lead him on 🙏🏻
The man chose what is more important. To follow Jesus. Matthew 16:24-26 ESV Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Praying for him. Hope he finds peace. I am also a Christian and I too believe we are in some dark times. I don’t necessarily believe it to be the end of days, but who knows…
Casey you know after being around NBA players behind the scenes that some of them are great people when the cameras are on them and absolute monsters or just horrible people when the cameras are off. Bad enough to make a person who is looking to be a good righteous person would not want to be around. Just look at the locker room he was in and the accusations around other players in that locker room. But to lose a baby like that and then have family start bringing up Old Wounds and fighting about them and the media for all to see and at the worst possible time. I hate to say it but it also looks like when he needed his family the rest of them are too interested in throwing Shade on the others and not focusing on the loss they just suffered nor did they look to console and to be there for their family members who are in the worst place at the time. I can see him looking at this type of dysfunction and disliking it so much that he walked into that locker room and saw very similar situation where it's a lot of people concerned more about themselves than anyone ever and it defeated him because he did not have a family at home he did not have a family in the locker room that he could lean on and depend on when he needed that help and little things like that become major things and can completely alter your life as it appears what is happening here or at least from my point of view the timing says a whole lot. I wish him the best no matter which road he decides on I also pray for he and his family because they are in desperate need of help and salvation from the pain they're going through with such a loss but God has a plan for him and I hope it leads him to a righteous life where he can not only spread the word of God,joy, and happiness to others but he can also find it for himself.
This is possibly the most gracious interpretation on here. Maybe I'm too jaded, but my thought was that he's using faith as a cover to lay low and grant himself a protective layer of innocence in case any of his family drama blows up further. Turning to God in a time of crisis might be a recurring theme in Christianity, but in my experience it makes for some of the more misguided followers.
Umar, a driver in a company I worked for earned $200 a month in 2002. He lived in a house he inherited from his grandfather. The house is located in an alley hidden behind an upscale furniture store. As the store expanded, his house was bought for $400,000. He used up all his fortune for pilgrimage to Mecca that costed around $15,000 per person using a legitimate “express way”. The regular pilgrimage costed around $2,000 but has more than 10 year waiting list. The 15k gave him business class flight, 5 star hotel, and other perks. He went with 20+ family members. Returning back from pilgrimage, he came back working as a driver and earned the same $200 a month salary. He then lived in a $30 a month rented house, but he was (and is) very happy. Maybe hard to understand for westerners and think he is dumb. But when I think further, Umar might live a happier life than most of us. BTW, this is a true story, and I live in Indonesia
He's going into fulltime ministry. Money isn't everything to everybody. Sometimes you're called to do other things. I believe it's admirable what he is doing.
as a basketball fan, loved the insight into this as i was not aware of all these things. as a Christian, i'll say i appreciate your respect for our beliefs, and clarify something that could easily be misinterpreted. when Christians refer to 'the last days' we are typically referring to the time between Jesus resurrecting and returning to Earth. this doesn't mean the world is about to end, but rather humanity is in it's last stage on this Earth, but we know nothing of how long that could be. i don't see it being any time soon, and it could be thousands of years away, but it could also be soon i suppose.

May God bless you all
Amen ✝️
Ain’t buying this at all.. gets cut by his team, dumped to g league, avg 2ppg, nephew dies, mom comes out saying dad is an abuser and all of a sudden it’s “ya he just fell out of love” something else fishy is happening and and using religion as a scapegoat like many people do. People always blame religion or use religion to excuse their past shitty behavior by saying the found god etc
God will truly set you free though he loves you and died on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins he loves you and wants a relationship with you. Trust me giving your life to Jesus will be the best decision you will ever make. He promises eternal life if you believe him, put your trust in him, and live a life for him. God bless you.

@mikeyjames These aren’t even comparable
Romeo Beckham was a pure Nepo baby, who was only at Brentford for his last name. He had no talent, nor a future at Brentford. He was literally NEVER going to play a minute for them
AJ Green worked his way into the nba, and made himself a first round pick. He had a legitimate future with the Rockets, and could have had great success with a good, young team

He did it for Jesus!!!
Plus the 7 year tribulation is just around the corner. More to life than games.
I mean he knew he was good at it, but now he decided that his life is being steered toward ministry, I think that's amazing even if the world doesn't think so.
I hope AJ doing well and I hope he happy 🙏
I wish all the people you mentioned in this video. The best.
The sad part about retiring early is that you'll realize that even when you're pursuing all of your "callings," there is still plenty of time that you need to fill
As long as he ain’t quitting basketball to become a rapper, I wish him all the best.
Respect to him! Keep doing what you love and where you're at peace with.
Just say it, he wants to spread the message of Jesus! Not a religion. But of a person. I am proud of AJ for this if this is what he decides to do. We need more men like this in the world, and this is inspiring on many levels.

Its a religion, there are many others. Your religion is not more special or valid than any one else
Yeah that was cringe, the guy legit didn't want to say he was a Christian
@@chrispfeiffer6905is not a religion, is building a relationship with the one who died for our sins. Many of these other “religions” are doctrines, created by satan so that people worship false gods and keep them away from the one and true savior, Jesus Christ.

Damn. I’m a physician and I would love to to give this all up and play in the NBA. I’m not alone in my desires. Despite the cultural praise of healthcare, alot of us want out.
He accidentally clicked retire in mycareer
Reminds me of Larry Sander story. Walked away from the nba in the prime of his career cause he doesn’t love the game anymore.
Hope Aj will do great in life, god bless him and his family 🙏🙏🙏
People often forget how tough the life of an NBA player can be - 80+ games a year, flying all the time, often playing injured, not sleeping well, not seeing your family that much...Not to mention the expectations, pressure etc. It's not just fun and games, those guys have to sacrifice a lot. Some get lost in the process, no wonder so many lose everything soon as they finish career - money, houses, even families. Not everyone feels happy for having diamond rings and 50 cars in a garage.
edit:
Talking about the last days - yes, the world ends for all of us when we die, the life is short, and nobody really knows of how much we're left with. So we all basically live the last days and the end is near, no matter what.
Not hearing none of that basketball community is so soft he's giving up the dream tens of millions of kids have. Getting paid millions to play a game... a sport... to give it away for any reason in my opinion is ungrateful

So tragic losing a young one like that. Feel the mom's pain. Infants and Toddlers can die of natural or unexpected causes. Pray she finds peace. Hats off to you for taking this look into the deeper aspects of his decision.
Amen!🙏🙏he just knows any day can be his last❤️❤️May God bless his soul, that is a brave warrior of Christ right there✝️
I think another key reason too is because they aren't giving him an OPPORTUNITY
a lot of people put pride in their work, and for him to not be on the court for weeks at a time and not be able to contribute is definitely hard for him.
God is good! Spreading God's word is the mission that Christians are called to do
Amen.

I hope he does what's best for him.
He's made more money at 21 than most Americans make in their whole life. His heart isn't in it anymore and he can live very comfortably for the rest of his life. Good decision by this guy.
Great video bro
7:34 ever heard of Michael Jordan?
His prime was on the Wizards?
Idk if that one counts in this statistic because he came back.
I am a Christian and AJ is a beloved brother in Christ … this video was fair to him and his situation… praying for him in any path God chooses to lead him on 🙏🏻
The man chose what is more important. To follow Jesus.
Matthew
16:24-26 ESV
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
This is why I love this channel
hmmm maybe this is why the bucks fired Adrian griffin? I had no idea about these personal issues going on
Umar, a driver in a company I worked for earned $200 a month in 2002. BTW, this is a true story, and I live in Indonesia

if he really is doing a missionary work, may God bless him.
as a basketball fan, loved the insight into this as i was not aware of all these things. as a Christian, i'll say i appreciate your respect for our beliefs, and clarify something that could easily be misinterpreted. when Christians refer to 'the last days' we are typically referring to the time between Jesus resurrecting and returning to Earth. this doesn't mean the world is about to end, but rather humanity is in it's last stage on this Earth, but we know nothing of how long that could be. i don't see it being any time soon, and it could be thousands of years away, but it could also be soon i suppose.
