    Wemby did something super intelligent very young that allowed him to become so mobile. First, he never played Center, he was playing guard when he was young in spite of his height, and got to practice like every short kid on dribbling and guard play. Second, Wemby is obsessed with stretching to an insane degree. That allows him to be flexible instead of just big. He was special cause he realized early he needs to prepare a different way to be one of the greats, and then did it. Still to this day you see Wemby flexing on the bench when he takes breaks

    • @noahx.classic
      @noahx.classic 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +68

      I would say the first is stretching. That is a BIG deal. It will help with injuries, recovery. Everything. People keep saying he needs to put on weight. I can't disagree more.

      @@AR-rn8ok Weight changes the dynamics of his agility, his shot form, injury chance, everything. Weight will come naturally in his career like it did for literally EVERYONE. He doesn't need to force weight. He needs to stay the exact same for the next few years.

    • @kylenunez2820
      @kylenunez2820 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@noahx.classicI don't agree with Wemby needing to be the exact same, but he doesn't have to be Giannis, that's for sure. Giannis was very lanky like Wemby when he first came to the league and had a guard's skillset, he got very buff quickly and took over Jabari Parker's spot when he got injured and didn't look back from that point
      The thing is, Wemby doesn't need to be like Giannis, he can take it slow, all he has to do is slowly get heavier so that by Year 4 or whenever they get competitive, strong players won't push him around in the paint where his Length is giving him all the advantage. Honestly, from what I've seen last year, he's not really that far off from where he needs to be physically, his own team and his growing Basketball IQ will lead him to success.
      Sudden increase in Muscle Mass is highly improbable for Wemby unless he takes PEDs and it happens to respond well to him, the recent pics from him "gaining" weight is more or less lighting, editing and having a pump since it's being taken during a workout. Hell, even 6 footers have a hard time gaining visible muscle mass from the gym, what do people expect from a 7'4 dude?

    I've seen journalism pieces on Olivier. He is a kind, humble, gentle giant, who works hard and comes from a good family. He seemed to be very intelligent as well. In the pieces, he wasn't even sure if his destiny was basketball and didn't want to be defined as just a basketball player nor would he succumb to peer pressure to become one just because of his height. I hope that if he does choose basketball as his career that he makes the most of his opportunity, and maybe find his way on to the Team Canada squad or perhaps on the Raptors someday. As a proud Canadian, I am really rooting for him to succeed. I just love to see good things happen to good people.

    It'd be interesting to see how Rioux develops. When I see Boban and Fall, I see players that had so much more skill and athleticism than Bol and Muresan. However, the game has changed so much since Muresan last laced them up. If Boban played in a league where guys like Jahlil Okafor were valued and focal points of offense (never happened, but if it did), then he would have done all right. He has more skills than just being a 7'4" curiosity.
    Fall was also much better than Muresan and Bol, but he couldn't block shots like Bol and Boston never used him like Muresan. If Boston ran plays for him, it would have been interesting to see how other teams would react. I mean, we all know that Golden State would have had Green and Wiggins guard him, but what would Chicago do? Would they have Vucevic guard Fall or would they go small and try to run circles around him?
    Muresan did well against big guys because they often couldn't figure him out. Even back then, they realized that putting a smaller guy on him, like Rodman, was better. However, even Rodman couldn't do much against a guy who was almost a foot taller than him. Yes, Muresan was slow, but he was effective.

Similar to how Wilt did track and field and it helped his game before moving to basketball, Wemby has shown incredible speed and flexibility for someone of his height because he did things outside of basketball to help his body keep up.
    This dude definitely has some insanely great body proportions, and once he stops growing, and hopefully soon; he could be a nightmare once he gets adjusted. But one thing Im getting tired of is that the NBA is literally just becoming the epitome of the joke "youre tall, you should play basketball".
