You nailed it what you said about this vehicle. I'm a 200 series Land Cruiser owner and wish the 300 series Land Cruiser was sold here. I really don't want to purchase the new LX600 for the following reasons. It was supposed to be thw option for a Land Cruiser replacement but it has 22 inch wheels and a low hanging front grill. I agree it looks alright but that is not what I want in this type of purchase. I would much rather have better approach, departure and breakover angles. I really like the heavy duty nature of the cooling system and everything else that is built so well. That's what I really want. My hope is that they will offer a GR sport like version of the LX600 and make it more like the Land Cruiser 300. Another thing I don't care for is the tune that recommends high test fuel. This vehicle uses a lot of fuel and it would be nicer to be able to run 87 octane.
Sounds exactly like when the 22R was discontinued. I think with a new motor made by Toyota, you have the highest probability of having a legendary motor. I've had 2 Toyota/Lexus 3.44 Twin Turbos, 2018, and now a 2023. I love them.
Fun fact the turbos can be done without pulling the motor which they call for both can be replaced in a couple of hours as I’ve done them on one 22 tundra as a Toyota tech. Not many people know the truck but if you know it you know it. And since Toyotas expects you to pull the motor the warranty time pays well being able to sneak them out. Overtime they’ll drop the warranty time but for now it’s good money
You described the interior so well. The screen feels like a last minute add-on because they didn't know what to do with it. Lexus design teams always make huge mistakes like this for some reason..
Completely amazing video and take with finally a true unbiased opinion on the LX 600 as i couldn’t agree more. My wife and I wanted something special and were happy on the trade offs of not getting all the gizmos and gadgets but instead getting a legendary overbuilt and over engineered off roader built to last. We get people always staring at her car and asking what it is because they are rarely seen. Absolutely love our 2023 LX 600 F Sport!
I have a pearl white 2010 LX570 with 95k miles on it..I taken excellent care of it and it’s immaculate on the inside and out. I paid 54k and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for a vehicle and my 27th year driving a Lexus suv😊
I felt as if I was listening to a review of the 2023 GX460. The conservative styled cockpit, rear seat legroom, third row room, quality materials, truck like design, handling, and indestructible. It seems that the GX became what the old Landcruiser/LX was at a reasonable price point. For 9/10’s of the LX you can have a GX for 30-40% less money. Less is more because it is easier to fit in a garage and parking space. As a bonus, the 18” tires cost half of what the 22’s do. Tires and oil changes will be the maintenance. I think the LX grew 1/10 bigger, but the price tag and unnecessary complexity increased at a much larger fraction.
I would love to upgrade my LX470 but the car market is such a mess right now. The LX600 is a proper LC300 just wearing a suit as you said. I might have to go for a 200 for now.
JAOS has a stock powertrain Baja built LX600 that couldn’t finish its tour but did pretty well. I think these will get stronger over time with changes. Your knowledge of these cars always amaze me and I can’t wait to see an GX550 on your channel.
Best overall review I’ve seen AMD! So thanks very much for providing such a detailed/comprehensive review as always, really appreciate your expertise! :)
The LC300 doesn't have a volume/tune knob unless you go down to the lower trims and they're just small knobs that flank the small screen. The big screen just has keys to dial the volume up and down.
Yeah it’s tough like a LC300 and it is very comfortable offroad. Often people wonder why I bought LX600 and use it as a vehicle to get to my land in forest. Well your explanation is comprehensive, LX600 is marketed as a luxury vehicle and people not buy it for that but I as a person loves LC300 that feel LX600 very attractive as a tank
Thank you AMD for this review……just outstanding! Cannot wait for you to get your hands on the 2024 GX 550……so waiting on that one and the new Landcruiser. YOU are so appreciated! -Angela
After seeing the interior and lack of buttons/costcutting on the GX550, the LX600 is the only one I would consider at this point... but that center stack is still a mess. The LX600 feels like an $80-90k SUV but most them are ostensibly priced at $100-120k.
Thank you for the insight into a wonderful vehicle. If this vehicle were in my price range I would definitely buy one, it’s almost perfect for my taste. I greatly appreciate all your content & will continue watching , thank you sir!
Excellent review. Totally agree this is high quality compared to tundra and sequ oia. Wish interior was more like gx550. Be very interesting to see your review of upcoming gx550. For me it's either this or gx550 in next 4 years.
Never quite understood the purpose of an F Sport in an LX. The Overland trim recently introduced in the GX should replace it soon. Agreed on your interior assessment, Lexus should consider redesigning the dashboard to make it more modern and cohesive.
I have an F Sport. Obviously love the looks but it drives much better than a non F sport. Every once in awhile that LSD does kick in. Likely most don’t drive like me. I off road lightly so not an issue. I do wish it had the digital mirror and rear tv option
One of the main things that made me pick Lexus over Mercedes and BMW was the none turbo and their hybrid system. Now they have complicated things I would have to reconsider things for my next car
I get this as a Land Cruiser enthusiast but it’s so funny to see the carryover of a lot of stuff from my 01 Sequoia limited …I’ll keep mine and save the $$$$
A totally awesome Lexus LX600 review. The points that are pointed as bad, I agree with and the same goes for the good points. The vehicle is very handsome both inside and out. I would not hesitate to purchase this Lexus at all. People that are interested in this type of vehicle, generally have the money to pay for one. People without a big wallet will probably not even give this a second look. Thank you for another great review.
I was driving with my grandpa on the passenger seat and he got confused the volume knob with the drive mode knob. lol the layout is somewhat confusing if you don’t drive it daily. Some knobs are in odd places.
I already put an AutoTrader notification on my account for one of these in F-Sport trim listed at less than $50k because I hope for one within about 5 to 10 years. Someday I'll receive my email and it will remind me what I liked so long ago.
Of all the full-size truck-type vehicles on sale in the US today, the last really earnest one is the Nissan Armada. It is priced basically where it should be for what you get without any nonsense. But even that one doesn't have the dedicated off-road features found in other markets.
armada is sold as Nissan patrol in other markets, LC300 also it is more utilitarian diesel , 2 row cloth seats . 18" steel rims a off-road wagon not. over priced 3row luxury car like the LX600
My assumption for that cavern next to the resonator it for a secondary fuel tank. That opening could for servicing a fuel pump, that would be in the secondary tank.
First time watching your channel. What a great overview. Super knowledgeable and detailed. So much better then the typical TH-cam regurgitated marketing talking points. I will tune in to your reviews from now on. Keep up the great work.
If you have a full size spare use that tire when you change all your 4 tires. Put one of the new tires on the spare and use the spare tire on the vehicle. This will prevent dry rot of the spare tire.
The LX is tall, but looks and feels bigger than it actually is. My 570 wheelbase is only 120”, great for off-roading. After removing the third row seats and upgrading wheels, tires and running boards, it feels like the perfect size for extended trips. Biggest negative for me is the brakes.
Great review. I recently an LX600 premium premium 2023 to go with my 2023 GX460 blackline edition. It was a cancelled order and I happened to be in the right place at the right time with the right dealer. Otherwise they are hard to get at sticker. I like the Lx600, but I like the GX460 better. At first I found the ergonics on the LX a bit off, but I have gotten used to them quickly. The center HVAC display I actually like because it does not interfere with carplay on the big screen. Another win is the cooled seats work way better than the GX and it gets 4mpg more even though it is bigger. I wanted the five seater Lx, but they don’t make very many at all, and I would have lost the nicer leather and cooled seat. Anyway, the LX is not perfect, but it’s vastly better and will be more reliable than the VW products (Porsche/Bentley/Audi) or a Range Rover or domestics, but I don’t think it will last like the GX.
Excellent review with a keen insight to the real weaknesses of the vehicle. I think you fairly covered both the good and the bad. Your statement that it has the DNA of a truck with a rough ride over bumps is spot-on. And you nailed it with the comments about build quality, durability, offroad capability, and build philosophy.
You can get one with smaller wheels from Lexus.
I concur.
I would love to upgrade my LX470 but the car market is such a mess right now. The LX600 is a proper LC300 just wearing a suit as you said. I might have to go for a 200 for now.
Do not; under any circumstances, get rid of your LX470. It is, an almost a perfect power train.
@@ralphlazio505my uncle did and instantly he regretted it
@@ralphlazio505heyoo😊
JAOS has a stock powertrain Baja built LX600 that couldn’t finish its tour but did pretty well. I think these will get stronger over time with changes. Your knowledge of these cars always amaze me and I can’t wait to see an GX550 on your channel.
That old green 100 series Landcruiser in the background looks much cooler 😆 21:13
The best review with practical explanation!
Love the dip in the hood. It is from the 70 series
Build quality is Number 1 , perfect.
Best overall review I’ve seen AMD! So thanks very much for providing such a detailed/comprehensive review as always, really appreciate your expertise! :)
The empty void with the access panel at the bottom is for GCC spec dual fuel tank models for the Land Cruiser and the LX600
I particularly admire your assessment of how things are going to work in hundreds of thousands of miles. I don't think anybody else can do that.
The LC300 doesn't have a volume/tune knob unless you go down to the lower trims and they're just small knobs that flank the small screen. The big screen just has keys to dial the volume up and down.
A beautiful masterpiece, great review!
Yes it is. My favorite color also.
Lexis and Toyota should be bring you in as an advisor
Yeah it’s tough like a LC300 and it is very comfortable offroad. Often people wonder why I bought LX600 and use it as a vehicle to get to my land in forest. Well your explanation is comprehensive, LX600 is marketed as a luxury vehicle and people not buy it for that but I as a person loves LC300 that feel LX600 very attractive as a tank
Thank you AMD for this review……just outstanding! Cannot wait for you to get your hands on the 2024 GX 550……so waiting on that one and the new Landcruiser. YOU are so appreciated! -Angela
👏👏👏👏
After seeing the interior and lack of buttons/costcutting on the GX550, the LX600 is the only one I would consider at this point... but that center stack is still a mess. The LX600 feels like an $80-90k SUV but most them are ostensibly priced at $100-120k.
If I had the money, I would buy this Lexus without any hesitation. This is a beautiful long lasting truck.
Thank you for the insight into a wonderful vehicle. If this vehicle were in my price range I would definitely buy one, it’s almost perfect for my taste. I greatly appreciate all your content & will continue watching , thank you sir!
👏👏👏👏
I love Lexus/Toyotas philosophy. Constantly improve, and if it’s not broken leave it be.
You need two radiations for this hot V6 setup. Thanyou for your service always a valued opinion.
Fantastic review as usual. I wouldn’t go off road with this masterpiece. Toyota/ Lexus it’ll last for ever.
Great analysis about the market situation of the luxury Land Cruisers, nonetheless, this truck it's just gorgeous!. Thanks for this video.
Any repairs? Thanks
The improvement in production for your videos has gone up recently. Amazing stuff!
One of the main things that made me pick Lexus over Mercedes and BMW was the none turbo and their hybrid system. Now they have complicated things I would have to reconsider things for my next car
I get this as a Land Cruiser enthusiast but it’s so funny to see the carryover of a lot of stuff from my 01 Sequoia limited …I’ll keep mine and save the $$$$
I just hope that one man of 820k subscribed is from Toyota. They will have many things to learn here. Absolutely brilliant as always, AMD.
I expect more than one person on the list is from Toyota.
AMD i love that truck I got one of that but 2022 and I don’t regret get it
Thanks so good video
wow way fancier than my 1999 Land Cruiser 100! Way more complicated too but Toyota engineers usually get it right.
We need the 300 Land Cruiser here in the USA!!!!
I’ve been waiting for this video ever since they announced it!!! Thank you Ahmed!!!
This is his second video on the LX 600.
Very good review AMD I still love my 2012 GX 460 mint condition
Yeap, you have explained it right!
I already put an AutoTrader notification on my account for one of these in F-Sport trim listed at less than $50k because I hope for one within about 5 to 10 years. Someday I'll receive my email and it will remind me what I liked so long ago.
It's nice.
I can't recall you reviewing a Lexus nx 300h?
I have one in the UK. I've enjoyed your videos for years now 😊👍
So, since you mentioned the "Failing" QX80, I'm curious to get our take on the last V8, 2024 QX80.
Very well done review! That interior puts me off.
I love the roar my 2UZ makes when I start it on a hot day :D
Change the volume with the buttons on the steering wheel. I use those buttons on my Tacoma and my Highlander.
My assumption for that cavern next to the resonator it for a secondary fuel tank. That opening could for servicing a fuel pump, that would be in the secondary tank.
Hey from Kenya 🇰🇪🛠️
You are simply the BEST
First time watching your channel. What a great overview. Super knowledgeable and detailed. So much better then the typical TH-cam regurgitated marketing talking points. I will tune in to your reviews from now on. Keep up the great work.
If you have a full size spare use that tire when you change all your 4 tires. Put one of the new tires on the spare and use the spare tire on the vehicle. This will prevent dry rot of the spare tire.
Spot on. The price is the issue. Its asking Mercedes price.
I truly like the Lexus lx600 but I wish it was a little bigger if they are going to make a 3 row out of it. I guess the TX is better in that regards.
You and Monroe associates should chat. Design/Assembly experts can use a lot from Mechanic experiences.
It's definitely the sensible option in its segment.
Agreed. I love mine as well.
Does the GX feel lighter ?
@@muffenist probably not because the LX has some significant weight savings over the previous gen and it's newer so it hides its weight better
It looks like a nice car that owners will really enjoy.... for a week before it's stolen and shipped overseas where they will really enjoy it.
🤣
Can’t wait to watch your new GX550 review!
If you ever stop being a mechanic you can become a top-rated car reviewer!!
i heard that it has main bearing issue in the engine. It may happen to the new GX too.
I'll never have one of these (way too big for me, don't like that style of car) but it's a fascinating look into the car. Cheers !
Another button for your collection of things to look for : a pause button for the sound system. I didn't have one of these in my last Lexus (ES300h), so when I was pulling up to a security access gate I would need to dive through multiple menus to stop the sound system making noise. Lexus CT - there's a Button. Pull up to gate, press button, talk to guard people, get in to site, turn sounds back on. Easy ! Something you never realise is useful until you need it.
PS Also missing my wireless phone charger.
PS2 That third row seat is awful !
