    Thank you for another great review! Is there any chance you could review the Mitas E-07+ tyre in the future ?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I do have a review of the E07+ tires coming up. They are a good compromise 50/50 tire. What are you looking for out if your tires? What bike are you riding?

    • @vtv8man
      @vtv8man 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Kylie. I have a r1250gs. I want to commence some off road riding. I’ve been using the standard Anakee adventures to date and love them on road. I wanted to try a 50/50 tyre. The local dealer said the eo7+ would be a good compromise as I still wanted to have a good road tyre. Pretty much I ride my r1250gs hard on the road, but understand I will need to compromise if I want to venture off-road. I was going to purchase a set of ax41’s but then the dealer said the E-07+ would be better compromise for wear given my 5 days commuting on road to work and weekends to try off-road.

    Awesome video. Great detail. Coincidently considering swapping out my Karoo 3's on my 2022 R1250gs Rallye, for a more street-able tire. You convinced me to consider Karoo Street. I had the Karoos up to 130 km/hr. But curves are sketchy at best. On the highway theKaroo 3's are super loud, even with ear plugs, almost unbearable. I absolutely love the GS however.

    Thanks Kyle for the quick reply! I was just watching your 2020 Adventure Tire shootout! Great video!! Would you choose the Karoo Street over the Michelin Anakee Adventure? I ride mostly street with dirt wherever I can find it. I like a really quite and non-laggy tire.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well... Sorry for the delayed response. If riding more "street" and you want a streetbike liek feel.. then go with the Karoo Street. If you want more "off road performance" but still great on the street go with the Anakee Adventure. Can't go wrong with either. - Kyle

    Hi Kyle, thank you for all the work you have out into these videos, they have helped a lot. I recently mounted a set of Dunlop trailmax mission and I have to say I am disappointed by the way the tire feels on the bike. Im not sure if its primarily the weight or the crown shape of the tire but it feels like it takes a month from sunday to transition from left to right lean in the twisties. I have had Metzler Tourance Next on a previous bike and loved those tires on the street. On your opinion, what would be a good ADV tire for me for pure performance (not cost or mileage) for full size ADV primarily short road rides and some fire roads (hardpack, gravel). In other disciplines I tend to be a tire snob to tire feedback and grip on the road are very important for me. I tend to ride slow and enjoy the scenery whenever off pavement. Thanks!

    I've never felt unsafe in the corners on the Karoo 3. I have the 1250GS Rallye. I just ride within the limits of the tire I guess. If you're looking to push the envelope in the twisties rather than the dirt maybe the street is a better tire. I think you'll have fun which ever tire you choose.

    Hey Kyle can you, or have you done a video about breaking in tires? I just installed some fresh Shinko 244s and they (so far) are more sketchy on the asphalt than my old pretty much bald Kenda Parker DTs. That just don't make sense in my mind. Do you think the 244s will grip better after wearing down a bit? In particular the rear kicks out coming out of a turn while giving throttle, I'm a bid dude on a Drz400, I can't generally break the rear loose with my Weight/HP setup. Also the rear locks up VERY easily now.
    I seriously predict these will be the tires that I meet the pavement on. And here I specifically bought these to feel what a "street" tire feels like.
    Edit: I also locked up the front tire while coming to a stop light cause I wanted to check the stopping power. Good thing I kept those bars straight as an arrow and puckered up real tight so I didn't kiss the ground.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man! Sounds like a great day! The uneasyness of the new tire I'd bet is due to the fact that due to the soft (flexible) nature of the lugs and the fact that they are full height... you are used to a worn down set of non-flexible knobbs... The wander is totally natural! As they wear, they will get more stable. Interesting video suggestion... I'll look into it! Thanks for your support. - Kyle

    Where does the Dunlop Trailmax Mission fall between these two Karoo models?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      runNride Smack Dan in the middle. The TrailMax mission is a True 50/50. The Karoo Street is more street... the Karoo 3 is more dirt. Bottom line... the TrailMax mission can hang with either on the street and is about 10% less dirty than the Karoo 3 off road. Thanks for watching. - Kyle

    Is it a bad idea to use a different tire in the front than in the back? Or would it not matter too much

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and No ;) On high performance street tires it does make a big difference. If one tire "out rides" the other tire it can be DANGEROUS! In the dirt it is not so much of an issue. On the big DS bikes... If you were to run a knobby front and a high performance street rear you could outride the front tire and push it right out from under the bike when accelerating hard into / out of a corner. Some tires turn in quick and others really slow. Mixing these can lead to odd feeling and bike reaction in the corners. In short, tires of matched performance and matched structure are best to be run together AND this is the reason manufactures recommend running matching sets of tires. Hope this helps!

    There are no strips on my Karoo 3. Maybe that's the BMW Dynamic Pro mode. I hear it allows the tire to slip slightly in the corner. Is traction control possibly preventing you from pushing the tire more?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      On this bike the hard parts hit the ground before that part of the tire can be used. Rim width also plays a role between your BMW and the AT.

      @@manybikes my tire picked up a nail. I decided to stay with a Karoo 3 and just replace my rear. I'm eyeing the Karoo 4 for next go. Although I'm mostly on street I live and hunt from my LMTV. So I still want the 50/50 tread to make the grocery runs out of the mountains easier. It's worth running through tires faster and sacrificing fun in the twisties that's negligible.

    what are these tires like compared to the dunlop trailmax ?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Karoo 3 is more knobby “like a full on dirt bike tire” and squirms A LOT on the pavement as compared to the TrailMax Mission Tire. Both are 50/50 tires ... the TrailMax Mission is more rounded, will get 2x the mileage and will excel at everything but deep sand and sticky mud.

      @@manybikes My father had the Trailmax on his GS and he absolutely hated the tire. It lasts long, but other than that it only provides nice grip at the beginning of it's lifespan, further down the line it's just very unpredictable. I rode his bike with them on and I was nervous the whole time on the gravel because I didn't know what it is going to do... the Metzeller Karoo is a superior tire I think.
