    I have been using these since June 2018: I'm currently on my 4th pair. On the street, they are ridiculously better than the stock Anakee 3s that my 2017 R1200GS came fitted with, and I found them to be remarkably good off-road considering the type of riding I do.
    I have done the same tracks on the Anakee 3s, where they would slip out under me constantly, and where the Karoo Street were perfectly stable. Granted, I'm usually not very aggressive offroad, so if tyres can get me through without scaring me, I'm happy. I have taken them through deep mud, forest roads, loose sand that wasn't too deep (definitely not as deep as shown in your test here), gravel and farmer's roads better fitted for tractors, ...
    I get about 13,000-14,000 km out of a rear tyre (15,000 if I wait till the last moment to replace them), and up to 23,000 km out of a front one.
    They are very very good in the wet as well as long as it doesn't pour. When you're stuck in a deluge that lasts an entire day for example, they feel quite vague so I feel the need to be extra careful.
    They work well for me, which doesn't mean I'm not looking out for newer and potentially better tyres (such as the Dunlop Trailmax Mission).

      Trailmax missions are well marketed crap.

    I recently bought these tires for my Africa Twin. After a quick 150 mile ride, my hands were buzzing. Tires hum like hell like a brodozer down the freeway. I have the air pressure set according to the manual (29 front-36 rear)

    this is the kind of test you need when you are between two tires that "on the papers" look very similar. Great test and information but the most important is the feedback of someone that actually feel how the tires behave when your ride on different surfaces. Great job dude, thanks a lot.

    How do you reckon the 3 street would do in mud and wet terrain? Living in Scotland means there aren't many dried out riverbeds but plenty of logging tracks that are wet and muddy!
    On the other end I would be needing to do a lot of wet weather riding on the road so how would the 3 do with wet asphalt?
    Cheers for another great video, you guys gave a great run down on the Motoz tyres, I bought the tractionator adventures and loves them!

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Kyle. I think the Karoo Street would be an excellent WET ROAD tire but a horrible mud tire. The tread depth is minimal and the grooves are not far enough apart to really do any good in MUD. The Motoz tires are legit. One of my favorites for sure. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    The Karoo Street tires came stock on my AT on road they are great but almost everytime i go off road the front tire either is all over or slips it happened first in sand then a grassy rut. Mild Offroad is doable as long as your really careful but dangerous off road.
    Pretty good on gravel country roads

      th-cam.com/video/g4PWaEWVPwQ/w-d-xo.html This tire was fantastic on-road as it stuck like glue and had great "feedback" from the road. I was not too impressed with it off-road. Take a watch... -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    Hey guys, great video! I have a Kawasaki Versys-x 300. It's a great bike and I do like going off road. I ride mainly road but do want to feel confident off road Nothing serious, mainly fire trails, gravel roads etc. I've done 13,000 km on the original tyres (and they have about 40% tread left as they are a hard compound) but they did skate a bit on hard pack trails with gravel. I'm a light rider, not loaded up but seriously...so confused about what tyre to get. Options I've looked at are Metzler Karoo 3 Street and Karoo 3, Pirelli MT60 and Scorpion Rally STR, Mitas E07+ and Sahara 3. I don't mind mixing styles but I've heard that can be complicated and sometimes dangerous.
    What would you suggest?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what you are looking for Paul, I would recommend the Mitas E07+ which will give you most longevity and great gravel road action. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

      Thanks guys, I do ike the E07+ but did have one concern and that is they don't make one for my front tyre size so you have to use the older E07 on the front. I've seen many reviews that said they are slippery on wet roads due to their harder compound? Haven't seen many reviews on the Rally STR's but I'm sort of edging towards the Karoo Street. Picking a set of tyres shouldn't be so difficult! :)

    How does the Karoo Street compare against the newer Michelin Anakee Adventure in your opinion on bigger adventure bikes?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I prefer the Anakee Adventure as it was a more robust feeling and a slightly better off road tire. The distance between the lugs on the Karoo Street really limit it's off-road ability from the experiences I have had on it... The Karoo Street was a better feeling STREET tire, but that is where I will leave it. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    Would you recommend a Karoo 3 front and Karoo Street rear like you did with the Michelin Annakee Adventure and Wild?

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think so... If I were traveling off-road and knew I wanted the front tire to
      "bite" I totally would. However, on the pavement, the Street rear will TOTALLY out ride the Karoo 3 front... and that could get dangerous if you are not careful. That Street rear is sticky and give great feedback where as the 3 front is a bit harder, slipperier and does not give as much feedback, until it pushes out.... You'd need to tone it back on the high speed twisties. My 2 cents... Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, it'd be decent. But in our testing we found that the Shinko 705, Michelin Anakee Adventure, and Pirelli Rally STR were better options for gravel.

  • @skidplate1969
    @skidplate1969 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In my opinion to give the tire a fair test off road would be to air down the tire when off road 18psi-23psi. If you dont air down your tires when riding in sand your asking for trouble

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      With all of our tires at the same pressure, we can still see the difference in how they all respond. Aired down further, they would each perform better... that we do agree. BUT there are MANY Adv guys who never touch their air pressures. So... we picked a middle ground. 30 psi.

It could be that while he's riding he wants to make sure viewers can clearly him him over the wind noise, road noise, and bike noise? Have you tried lowering the volume on your phone or computer speakers?
