    Greetings Kyle. Thank you for the Video. I have now approx. 6200 km on my Karoo4 Set (890 ADV R) and the back tire is finished. Its still good for some Kilometers on the road but the center is gone...for me this tire is a decent and serious option for anybody who wants a reliable 50/50 tire without loosing too much performance on the road. Once broken in, you forget that you ride a nobby tire and you can lean it all the way down on mountain passes and switch backs. The rain performance is as you show us = very good! i can say that even cold and moist roads in the winter here in Germany are not a problem, it didnt experience any slides and whatsoever.
    One thing to keep in mind: if you reach your 6000 km with the rear, you shouldnt go too serious Offroad or Mud/Gras. Then the back will just glue itself and not clean anymore because the thread is not deep enough, but thats with all the nobbies out there.
    regards from Germany!

    Happy New Year Kyle! A very impressive test ride👍 I rode the Karoo4 during my last years 7.200km Balkan trip. On- and off-road. Heat, rain, mud on the tarmac, hillclimbs, downhills, sand (not really my favorite terrain). The tyre performed excellent in all conditions. This year I am going to ride the Nordics via Poland, the Baltics and starting in Finland. Mostly back-country e.g. TET (like TAT). All the way up to Kirkenes. Then back via North Cape down to Sweden to Denmark. And then back to southern Germany. Again on a Karoo4. They have to last approximately 10.000km this time.
    Keep up your excellent work and thanks for this vlog.

    Great video, always enjoy your reviews. How do you think these would do on a Himalayan? I ride mostly road but the roads around here are shot, full of potholes, mud and gravel from farm entrances and often wet. I ride a bit off the tarmac and plan to get onto some offroad trails next season, grew up on trail bikes and road tyres just never feel 'right'.

      Howdy! I just spent 4 days on a Himalayan in South Dakota. FUN! Super FUN! Videos are in the works. What a mountain goat! These Karoo 4 tires would do great on this bike and it is the best wet weather knobbie i have ever ridden. The 850GS in the upcoming videos was on these Karoo 4 tires. Did well as you will see.

      It was super fun! I prefer my 390 Adv for CA life as it does 80 - 90 mph with ease due to the 12k rpm redline. That poor Himi did not like 75!

    • @lukefurze5501
      @lukefurze5501 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@manybikes That is their big downside for sure, fast cruising. Our roads are 60 mph for most and 70 for motorway which is just about doable but revving hard for a long journey. They can carry quite a lot as well and still cruise, at their best on backroads, 45 to 60mph. Maybe 65 for all day touring is ok.
      But as you said - 'mountain goat', not racing goat!

    i had me some metzeler m3 and m5's on my 05 r6 and i loved them! i now have the karoo 4 on my 1290 and i havent really had much time to ride, but i have put a few hundred miles on them and they seem to be good. i have noticed like you mentioned i think in your last video when i came down to Los Angeles from Bakersfield the other month, that the rain grove roads did make it for a little wandering from the tires but they didnt want to wabble. on the i5 they felt great but the i60 the road condition i dont think is as clean so the did drift, now i just need to see if they wabble like the tkc 80's did on hard pulls with the front tire and how i like them in the corners.

    Great look at the tires and your Klim Gear.
    I’ve been in the Badlands Pro for a couple of years now. They make great gear, although the main zipper can be a fight some times.
    I have a One-Piece AeroStitch Roadcrafter that I ran since 08, it lost any waterproof capabilities but what a great commuter suit until it did. That’s when the Klim came into play.
    Just picked up a 2022 890 Adventure S and the Avons are good on the road but I’ll have to swap them out for decent off-road riding. I’ll consider these but probably go with the MotoZ.

You need a much louder horn because people can't hear that little horn. I know I had to change the one out on my GSA. I still cannot believe for the amount they want for these motorcycles and they want to put the cheapest horn possible on them! Ride safe.

      I've ridden a lot in London, but also Paris, Rome, Marrakesh, and plenty of big cities. I've got a Denali Soundbomb with a compressor mounted under the beak of my Tiger 900 Rally. It is bloody loud and pierces the air conditioned bubbles of most drivers. Dopey pedestrians leap out of their skins and in London, where locals walk about with their noses in their phones and tourists look the wrong way on roads, that horn was a good buy. It was a chore to fit but is now discreetly fitted but I needed a lot of spacers and some metal bending.

    Hello Kyle and thank you for the informative videos.
    I'm a beginner rider and I'm looking for a set of tyres with good road and great rain performance for my KLE500. In order to get to my home I have to go up an extremely steep uphill road that leads to a (still uphill) right turn (almost a u-turn). The only time I've dropped my bike was on that road on a rainy day when my very old Bridgestones lost traction. Dropped it twice that day. Going downhill in the rain is also a problem for me as my bike does not have ABS.
    Do you think the TKC70 Rocks would do well ? I would like to deep my toes into some off roading but I wouldn't prioritize dirt over rain and road. My bike makes almost the same power and weights almost the same as the cb500x.
    Thank you in advance.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your support. The TKC70 Rocks is a great tire but the new Metzeler Karoo 4 is hands down the best (stickiest) in the wet I have ever ridden (aside from a sport bike rain tire). When it comes to 50/50ish tires... the K4 is the winner I also really liked the Bridgestone AX41 in the rain and snow.

      The RallZ has more silica and is a softer compound than the other two. They wear out quicker but are stickier and work better in the wet in my opinion. "Hybrid compound with Silica for optimum grip in mud and snow" vs the Adventure which is an "Optimized hybrid natural / synthetic compound produces dependable grip in all weather extremes."

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your inquiry. The Karoo 4 is more stable right out of the gate as its tread depth is much shorter and the blocks are bigger. In the wet, the Karoo 4 excels. Street performance they are similar but I get a wallow on the K4 I don't get on the DV. In the dirt they both hold their own, but I think the Motoz is a bit more aggressive. The fact the DV is reversible is a huge bonus. The K4 might wear weird half way through... but only time will tell on that one.

      The Tourance / Karoo 4 would be an interesting combo. The rear will slide a bit off-road but it’ll be great for gravel / dirt roads. I like a more aggressive front if I’m running a “less knobby” rear … gotta have traction somewhere ;)
