  • Thank you so much for checking out my video! I wanted to try and face one of my fashion fears and make my first midi skirt, so I made it into a tutorial so you guys can make one too! This skirt is overall pretty simple to make but I did use an invisible zipper so it's not intended for beginners. I am more active on Instagram so you can follow me there if you want to see more of my creations, and if you give this skirt a try you can tag me on Instagram because I would love to see it!!

    Do you have any tips to adjust the size of the skirt? I really want to make it but i’m new to sewing and not very good at adjusting things. ❤️

    • @PaperStxrs
      @PaperStxrs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Hi there! I would suggest to adjust the skirt you measure your waist, divide it by 2, add an inch of seam allowance, and that’s how big the top of your skirt should be. It’s also always better to make it too big and to take it in on yourself later than to not have enough fabric to work with! Then from the waist you can draw a diagonal line down to the bottom of the skirt (the bottom of the skirt should be bigger than the top, and you can really make it as big as you want). It’s important to make sure that your skirt is symmetrical, so you can fold it in half to make sure it’s the same on both sides. From there you should be able to follow the tutorial like normal! I really hope this helps, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask!😊

    ok I used to work at joann's and that specific fabric I have such terrible memories of bc I was *constantly* having to reroll it onto the bolt bc it would always be slipping off. Idk why this fabric in particular it just DID NOT want to stay on that goddamn cardboard no matter how we tucked it or how many clips we used. I remember in one shift I had to reroll that fabric 13 times

    Hi! Thanks for this tutorial it’s amazing!! I was just wondering (i am a beginner), do you think i could do this same skirt (but as a maxi, and to make it a dress in the end) with a slightly see through fabric, if i add a lining skirt under? I am wondering how to deal with the lining + slit...?

    • @PaperStxrs
      @PaperStxrs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that could totally work! For the slit, you can sew both layers together if that is the look you want, or you can do them separately and just line them up when you put the lining underneath☺️

    Hi!! I’m new to sewing and your video is by the easiest method I’ve seen but I’m still confused. Is there anyway you can explain more about the measurements you used and how you cut with the measurements; like how many inches you added for the zip, how many inches you used for the joining of the side panels and all that.
    Thank you!!

    • @tosanbegho4251
      @tosanbegho4251 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh and how you made the curve at the top and bottom of the skirt.

    • @PaperStxrs
      @PaperStxrs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha I’ll do my best! For the seam allowance around the sides I use 1/2 an inch. This means that each panel has an extra inch of fabric. Same goes for the zipper! The curve around the top is to make the length even all around the skirt. It doesn’t have to be exact, but a slight curve will help the shape of the skirt when you wear it. If you are unsure of how this skirt will go, you can always make a tester skirt out of a cheap fabric before using nicer fabric. This will help with sizing and any adjustments you might want to make ☺️ I hope this helps a little!! Good luck!✨
