I literally bought this same fabric and got an idea to make a midi skirt with a slit on it and came looking for a tutorial on youtube, I clearly didn't remember I watched this video a year ago haha
I love that you support your patterns with these pattern hack videos. I'd love some tutorials on some Rosery-ed basics, like cute versions of t-shirts and tank tops from knit fabric, if you can, or a turtleneck 2.0.
I have just moved house so all my sewing supplies are packed away right now but the Hannah wrap skit is next on my list! Definitely going to give this skirt a try too. Thank you so much Janelle for sharing these hacks/alterations of your patterns - it makes them such a versatile purchase and also a learning experience to see how you adjust the patterns to create different designs x
I used to cut around the notches when cutting out my fabric which I always found a bit awkward but quite some time ago I started just cutting a small slit into the seam allowance where the notch was marked instead which I found a lot easier x
Amazing as always Janelle. I wish I had seen this a few weeks ago when I was trying to put an invisible zipper in. Got there in the end but with much confusion haha!
this is so pretty janelle!!! true story i was actually at spotlight the other day and saw this fabric and went 'huh i'm pretty sure i saw that in a rosery apparel video' now i wanna go get it and make this gorgeous skirt!!
Stunning Janelle. ..love the colour too...thank you for sharing this amazing video. ..your tutorials are always soo easy to follow...look forward to the next one....remain blessed xxx
Great idea and pretty result. 😊 I may have missed something, but it looked like seam allowance wasn’t added to the newly created seam that created the slit. I would add seam allowance so 1 1/4 inches isn’t lost in the width across the skirt front. Otherwise, very nice video!
That is a wonderful skirt and I especially LOVE the fabric. I know it is winter in Australia but wondering if you can pair the skirt with tights and boots. Might be cute and warm enough
What a beautiful skirt! I really want to try this. Do you have any advice on how I can make it with a little more compression around my love handle areas? Or what fabric material I should use to conceal a little more? Thank you!
Hiii! 😊 What fabric did you use? Can I use poly Cotten? Can you make a video on how to measure yourself for the patter of the skirt? Is there a way to sew an overlock stitch with a normal sewing machine (mine is Janome 4400 hobby craft) Thanks 🥰😊🤗
I love your videos ! You explain everything so well !!! I have a weird question, but I’m obsessed with your lipstick 😅 can you tell me witch one is it ?
I wish your patterns included plus sizes as well. I love your content and your style, however I am not able to purchase your patterns due to sizing. I’d love to support smaller companies and businesses, hope to be able to in the future! ♥️
Thanks for the feedback. I’m currently talking to someone who will potentially be able to help me extend my size range (I don’t have enough experience with plus size pattern making personally, and I want to make sure it’s done right!). It might be a while off, but definitely something I’m working towards 🧡
Hi, I have just started sewing when challenging myself during our recent short lockdown to make masks with my mums old machine. I ended getting so into it and my perfectionist me ended up making a few different designs to find the right one! Now my curiosity has landed me on your channel and I'm intrigued and tempted to try my hand at a skirt or two. Lockdown has just lifted today so I plan to go out and find some fabric. I have some questions before I do... is overlock necessary for this project as my machines does not have it? You mentioned a zip peddle? is that necessary? And also, are patterns one time use or can you reuse them once they've been cut up by sticking them back together? Thank you and looking forward to watching you some more in my spare time :)
Just bought this pattern and haven't sewn in years, I'm excited to get stuck in! Out of curiosity, do you not add seam allowance to anything? (Sorry if this has been answered below already!)
No sorry, with an elastic waistband it won’t be able to go on over your hips. For an easy waistband skirt follow this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/Ma7HLPjbvAU/w-d-xo.html&si=NBeUdzmFvJQ0uzMb
I started on this skirt today and I don’t know what happened but it started to turn out waay too small for me so I added another 4inch little panel to one side 😅 I don’t know why it ended up so small
I just watched this video...when cutting the skirt from the dart to make the slit, seam allowance should have been added to that newly made seam. Maybe I missed something, but I didn’t see an addition of seam allowance. It was just cut, and therefore 1 1/4 inches was lost in the width across the front of the skirt. That may have been the cause of it being too small. (One of the causes, anyway.)
Does the pattern already include seam allowance? I didn’t see you add any space when cutting out, and I also didn’t hear you mention it. I would love to know before I start cutting my fabric :)
I'm really short, so could I place the two hannah pattern pieces less than 45cm apart? Or will this mess up the hang of the skirt? I'm 5'1 for reference x

This is beautiful! I’m new to sewing but I definitely want to give this a go! The instructions and video were so clear, thank you 💕
It’s a great project for beginners! Have fun making it 🧡
I love it. And the way you stitched the zipper and flipped the fabric is genius!! The pattern fabric and style are beautiful. Thanks so much Janelle

Aw you’re welcome! I’m glad you like these pattern hack videos, and have fun making the Hannah 😊 x
I've been waiting for this video and have been wanting to make a skirt similar to this.
I used to cut around the notches when cutting out my fabric which I always found a bit awkward but quite some time ago I started just cutting a small slit into the seam allowance where the notch was marked instead which I found a lot easier x
Yes, that’s how we did it in fashion school!
It's a beautiful skirt and the fabric too!
Lovely skirt 🎉🎉😊. It reminds me of what i wore to uni in the 90s.
That is a beautiful skirt. Very well presented too.
I love how adaptable this pattern is. Your fabric is just perfect for this project.
PS: Hope you enjoyed your holiday!
I had such a lovely time, thanks for asking! Happy to be back home and making videos again though 😊

So beautiful! 💕 beyond excited to try this pattern hack out. It turned out so well!

Amazing as always Janelle. I wish I had seen this a few weeks ago when I was trying to put an invisible zipper in. Got there in the end but with much confusion haha!
Too cute! I love the challenge of pattern hacking :)
I just made your perfect dress in this fabric. Great minds thinks alike, it's beautiful!

Once I am confident enough with moving the fabric through a sewing machine. I will definitely get one of your patterns to try out! 😅🤣

This is a cool idea. I Will definitely do it.

Great video!
How many meters of fabric will be required
lovely video! Love how the skirt came out. I was wondering what camera you are using?
the quality is amazing and I am looking for one...
It should be in the description 😊
It’s not 😕
Thanks! It’s a Cannon g7x ii 😊 Also, I’ll try and remember to leave info like this in the description from now on!
Thank you for your reply 😇

Thanks for purchasing the pattern! The seam allowance is 1cm and is already included in the pattern 😊
Wow nice😻
Hi Janelle, quick question: if I'm 5.9, will this skirt be long enough for me? How can I make it long with your Hannah's pattern? Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this video ❤️❤️
Is it possible to use velvet or satin fabric for this skirt? Most satin skirts nowadays are sheer and I would rather make it myself than buy one
Hi, why do we join two fabrics for slit? Can we cut a slash and then finish it neatly. Or does this have a technical problem. Please help
Hi! Its sooo beautiful. I would like to know what fabric did you use?
It’s a rayon and is linked in the description 😊
i was just looking this up a few days ago😭i’m 7 months pregnant so hopefully i can tweak it enough to fit right now
Is this beginner friendly? I want to start sewing but I’m not sure if this one will be too hard to start with. Thanks!:)
It’s a great beginners project (the Hannah wrap skirt is also perfect for beginners too!), the hardest part will be the zip 😊
Question: what sewing stitch do you use to get that sewing thread style ?
Hello, I enjoyed watching your video! I would love to make my own clothing! I am looking for size 00 or 0. Do you only make above size 4?
Hey the 4 is a 00 as it’s in Australian sizing. I have a 23 inch waist or about 59cm and the AU size 4 fits great in all her patterns!
I’m brand new to seeing clothing, can you add an elastic waist band to this?
No sorry, with an elastic waistband it won’t be able to go on over your hips. For an easy waistband skirt follow this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/Ma7HLPjbvAU/w-d-xo.html&si=NBeUdzmFvJQ0uzMb
I know this was a long time ago but I would love to make this. Roughly how much fabric did you use?
It was about 2 metres from memory 😊
Thank You so much! @@RoseryApparel
I started on this skirt today and I don’t know what happened but it started to turn out waay too small for me so I added another 4inch little panel to one side 😅 I don’t know why it ended up so small

I'm gonna make this one too! I'm about the same size as you, could I ask about how many yards or meters of fabric you used?
I used just a little over a metre (about 1.25) and I’m average height if that helps 😊
Hi, can i use the same pattern but without the slip? Will it still make a wearable skirt? Or i need to alter the pattern? Tq
You should be able to skip the slip, yes 😊
Does the pattern already include seam allowance? I didn’t see you add any space when cutting out, and I also didn’t hear you mention it. I would love to know before I start cutting my fabric :)
Yes the pattern includes the seam allowance 😊
I would add seam allowance to the newly made seam that creates the slit. Otherwise width is going to be smaller.
Question, about how much fabric did you need for this project?
About 1.5-2 metres x
@@RoseryApparel thank you very much!
is an overlock necessary with this project? I only have a singer sewing machine.
You can zig zag stitch along the raw edges with your sewing machine instead 😊
I'm really short, so could I place the two hannah pattern pieces less than 45cm apart? Or will this mess up the hang of the skirt? I'm 5'1 for reference x
Yes, you can customise the length completely! I just like to include the measurements I used in the vid as people like to know 😊
Thank you mam❤️😘
👍
How do you stop the zip from becoming wavy, I want it t lie flat
Might have to try this now! I am not good at zig zagging :/
Im not sure but the pattern link to buy it no longer works 😢
Does it matter if the fabric is stretchy or not?
The fabric I used isn’t stretchy, but you could use stretchy fabric and you may be able to skip the zip altogether!
Good good
💜💜💜
Wheres the pattern I need it please I can't find it nowhere
just look in the description...
What kind of fabric?
