I appreciate that this has to be drapey, but you'd almost need another skirt under that thin fabric ( which she seems to have on when modeling.). A regular slip wouldn't quite do it.

This is not the easiest skirt to start with, because of all the seams and also the thin fabric. Also, she is not using pins because she is very experienced at feeding fabric through the sewing machine. And stretching the elastic while sewing it to another layer is challenging. I suggest you try a simpler project for your first attempt.

Thank, I'm not new to sewing. I'm new to garment make. I have been quilting for a few years now. I appreciate this might not be the best project to start with for someone just learning the basics. Thank for saying something, I would not want someone who is brand new to sewing getting frustrated if they can't do the same as the video.

What an excellent easy to understand video! This is real sewing, not just followung someone else's pattern and hoping it fits! My only question: do you wear this over a dress to change the look? Or over a second skirt? Or lining?

Sorry I can’t reply in Spanish, but I was upset that this video says the skirt ‘fits every size' which it clearly doesn’t, and you got no answers. I’m definitely not an expert, but a firm believer in getting a sheet or duvet cover from a charity/thrift shop (unless you have a worn-out one already), and giving it a go! Just from standard sizing charts, I think this could possibly fit you as is, but would likely be very hard to get on over hips and very straight. I’d be tempted to try a width of 90 inches - or 45 to the 30 folded width she uses. If you take your hip width divided by six but then lose all those seam allowances, surely it would be hard to get on over your hips no matter what size you are? I might be missing something, but I’d make it hip divided by 6 plus an inch - you can always go back and take off the extra inch if it’s too big. The elastic you can just size to fit you comfortably, which I always do anyway, ignoring the measurement for my size.
I hope this might help, if you haven’t already tried it! It’s a lovely skirt and would be great to make and wear! Best wishes from Ireland.
