I would charge a half hour. It’s your time and tools to diagnose and fix. That way you make a few dollars on an easy repair and the customer goes home happy with their equipment running good.
It depends because no matter what it is at least half an hour to one hour of your time you will never get back, this is from the time they make contact until the unit has been returned fixed or not. I would have no issues paying $20 after you let me crank it up from a cold start, and if it is running great, 20 bucks with a smile on my face. Otherwise, if I did the work I would consider what I need, to determine the cost. Such as a price of a tool, a tank of gas (1-2 gallons,) some 50:1 oil, and maybe a primer bulb, fuel lines, a carburetor, or a combination of such items, you know things I need or would keep in stock and use. $20 bucks will cover most of that. If you are happy with just a tank of gas or the price of a chainsaw chain go for it. Thank you for the vid.
