Thanks for watching. This Poulan trimmer was fixed about a year ago and unfortunately they replaced everything except what was broken.
For lack of power/compression, one thing to check on any 2 stroke is the exhaust ports/muffler/spark screen. They can get clogged up. Clean the ports, if necessary and take a propane torch to the screen to burn off the crud. If the muffler doesn't come apart, set it on a camp stove or throw it in a campfire to burn the crud out.
I still have this one so I'll definitely have to check that. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
That style of carb with the 2 barrels is referred to as a “strato charged” engine. The top barrel is for fresh air only and has it’s own transfer ports to the combustion chamber. This is for emissions reasons and uses a sort of air buffer between the fresh change coming in and the exhaust going out so that less unburned fuel escapes out the exhaust. There are some vids on TH-cam demonstrating the concept. It is very common on newer 2 cycle outdoor power equipment.
thank you for informing me about it. I appreciate it
I would stop using it. I have 3 acres and a week trimmer only bring more headaches. But I appreciate your video.
that's a good point thanks to the comment I appreciate it
We have the same exact one and it starts then died again right away and this video showed me how to go about it but im gonna take it in since I'm not a mechanic but i know now what's wrong great video i really appreciate it man
No problem. Thank you Vinny Pinatelli for the comment I appreciate it
No problem
If it performs, I'd continue using it. Considering the unit may not have had the best care, I would recheck that compression after additional use on the possibility the rings were stuck and became free and look for other contributory causes of low compression.
thats very well said. Thanks again for the comment.
replacing the piston rings on that motor might help with compression increasing and possibly changing over the fuel line that looks perished for optimal flow etc
thats a good idea
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE no worries mate
I got one like that and the only way I got it to run good was to disable the top butterfly by removing the link. then the mixture adjustments seemed to work normally.
Does that mean not as much air was getting to the engine as normal then?
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Maybe a air leak into the lower channel from the top channel?? It looks like the upper channel air enters in a different part of the engine.
@@jimyguitar3177 yes it does. it supposed to let more air into the engine thru a different port, sorta like dual plane intake.
Appreciate the video!...I have this same model...has been sitting for a long-- time...I'm attempting to get it running again to use the chainsaw attachment...anyway, I'm at a starting point adjusting the carb, how many outward turns on both high and low should I begin with?
Thanks. I would start at 1.5 turns out to begin with.
Good deal! Thanks again.
Hey how do you remove the trimmer head from the shaft does it have a set screw in the center of the head
Is it this trimmer in this video? If so, I don't have this one anymore. Some you just turn the bump head which holds the bolt that keeps the head on the shaft. Others have a locking point you need to stick a small screwdriver in and then turn the whole head.
How to adjust the carborator from scratch ! How many turns do I turn in or out each one if they are turned all the way in clockwise
I do not know what the factory setting are but if your asking where start, I would start at 1.5 turns and begin tuning there.
Great video. Mine is nine years old and finally having trouble starting. I'm going to get the parts and follow the video again. My question is where did you get the carb adjustment tool? I'm afraid mine need adjusting being as old as it is.
I ordered them on Amazon. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Or you can take a small tube and adjust your carb
You can get an adjustment tool in a few ways but all from Amazon you can prefer to order a set a single tool or when you buy a new carburetor they sometimes come with an adjustment tool. But all from Amazon so get an Amazon account and order you some tools
Hi, I have poulan prolink trimmer pp 330
First, start few second and die then I reset the carburator tur n clockwise all away down on L and H then idle control too. And I turn counter clock on idle three times, L side 1 3/4 and H side two times,
I cleaned the carburator, fuel line and carburetor looks good but still no start
Did I missed something?
I don't think so, did you follow the starting procedure, in the owners manual?
Piston rings... pretty cheap. Even if you buy a new head... i have the p330... trying restart it now...
good luck with it. Do you know what's wrong with it?
This is now a running gag on the channel. If you need Poulan parts, I have salvaged some from two of the model 330.
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
Idk if you still have but I need the whole back to my husband's weedeater hes been trying to get it going bless him, he dont have a starter Paul? Or the special back pull cord starter or mount plate
I just came across a Poulan Pro string trimmer at my local carwash (27cc) I think. I'll check it out on Monday and use your videos for guidance.
absolutely do it and let me know how it goes
I would keep her going. Unless your weed whacking a large prairie she's still has life. Mabe downgrade the line a size or so. Enjoy your videos!!
Thank you Thomas Roche for the comment I appreciate it
I don't have any spark on my poulan weed eater I have checked the start switch it is good still no spark at plug how do I get plastic cover off a poulan prolink 31 cc PPB 150E trimmer to get to spark plug wire base
I don't have a video on that, but what I can tell you is that it's not easy. It requires you to remove the clutch assembly. I wound't try without watching the video on it .
I have a weedeater just like your my weedeater when I start it have the choke button up when I put my hand on the trigger choke button go down to run why is that
its automatic. when the trigger is pulled the choke isn't needed anymore.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE thanks I figure it out on this do not have to hold the trigger to start it that's the first time I seen one just like this one thanks again
If you run line longer , change to 0.080 line
That's a good idea. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Great that you got that weed eater running i would buy a new one one question where are you located i see that you are in a warm place
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it. Actually this was filmed last Oct. That's why the grass is green.
What's the possibility of doing a video about comparing different makes of trimmers, mowers, etc...
there's a good possibility, however, I would have to come up with good points of comparison. After that, I would then have to figure out the best way to present that information.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I was thinking more on the lines of dependability,, longevity, price and part's availability.
oh yes, those are also very good point. Thank you for the idea.
And the trimmer 4 years old only three times used until now
I used it three weeks ago runs good but today not at all
mix new batch of mixed fuel.
Im just nervous to do it without experience
No problem. Let someone else like a friend or a relative do it using this video.
I think i could but its my landlords so i might do it with him just to save him the money but i dont wanna ruin something that's not mine
Thanks 🙏
No problem
Want to fix primer bulb on same saw
remove air filter base, pinch tabs, on bulb, and push it out, then swap the lines, one at a time, to the new one, and snap it back into place.
Sound good going so that now let u no what happened thank you
no problem.
Hi how do you know the compression for each type of engine? great video
Hello, are you asking how I know what the compression is "Supposed to be" for each engine? I don't I'm just assuming 50 psi is bad, 75 is okay and anything over 100 is good.
Generaly for 2 cycle equipment anything below 60 psi is bad and anything above that is ok
Your pinky finger moves when you prime the bulb
thanks
Use a thinner line.
thank you for the comment I appreciate it
I wish i knew the right question to ask.
me too.
Turns out, I just needed to clean the carb and change the plug. Only took me two days and teen thousand pulls worth of trouble shooting.
good work. at least you got it going
Let it do it's job till it can't do it anymore. Then it can become a parts unit!
Very good idea. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Sell it for $10. Buy a new one or replace ring and hone cylinder if not scored from lack of oil in mix.
I'd probably re ring the engine !
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it. Yes that's a definite possibility.
If it's not good for y'all grass then what's it good for I'd trash it and buy a new one or I'd even donate it to a kid just learning how to use a weedwacker
now thats an idea
Use it until it's no more then get a new or used one.
that's the plan so far
Keep it till it dies then get a new one
Thank you Daniel Padgett for the comment I appreciate it
its blowed up
it sho did
Hi
Hello Dora Escalante.
I'd run it until it dies
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
air leak
Very possible
Junk it and buy a echo
echos are a great brand
Quick fix...throw in trash and buy a Echo or Stihl!
Absolutely
Sell it for 20$.
That's a great price
Dumpster food
probably
