  • My Poulan Pro gas trimmer wasn't starting, so I cleaned the carburetor and it's FIXED! I show how to remove the carburetor from the trimmer and then take it apart and clean it. If your trimmer doesn't start, the carburetor is probably clogged.

    If your gas trimmer is not running right after the cleaning, or doesn't start, check out my carburetor adjustment video: • How To Adjust a Trimme...
    The trimmer in the video is a Poulan Pro PP025 25cc, equipped with a Zama Carburetor, Part C1U-W19.
    👉 I show step by step how to remove the carburetor from the trimmer and how to disassemble the carburetor. I then clean it with my Ultrasonic cleaner, I have a video review of the ultrasonic cleaner here: • Cleaning a Carburetor ...
    👉 If you are re-using the old carburetor gaskets and diaphragm make sure they are in good condition and completely DRY. If the bulb is stiff it's a good idea to replace it, because it will leak soon. It is common for the bulb and fuel lines to get stiff and wear out causing a gas leak after a few years.

    These video are among the best that I have viewed for working on the Poulan Pro.,or other small engine repairs. The instruction is complete, the voice is clear and easy to listen to, and most of all when you follow as instructed your machine runs very well. Highest marks , this is really first class.

    I have had limited exposure to the walbro carb but this video is very good. In my opinion, the assembly per factory specs is counter-intuitive. The key is to place the gasket next to the carb body on both the fuel pump and the metering side of the carb body. This moves the diaphragm - on the metering side, and the pump valves away from the carb. body. This is not intuitive in my view, but I didn't design the carb.

      I stand corrected on the pump assembly. After watching the video a number of times it now appears that the pump diaphragm goes on next to the carburetor body and then the gasket goes on top, which is opposite of what I said above

    Where can I get the shaft with the big red plastic lever? Mine has snapped at the lever. Shaft broken just where it goes out of the carburetor...

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have updated the video description with a link to where you can order a brand new carburetor + adjustment tool and a bunch of other things. So you can either use the new carb, or take the lever off and put it on yours.. nobody sells just the lever unfortunately.

    Kinda funny how the carb kit is more expensive than the entire carb. :)

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes the carb is some very cheap brand, and the rebuild kit has higher quality parts. It's tempting to get an entire carb, but I've got a few that did not work at all, or they will work but not very well and clog up more easily. I prefer keeping Original parts if possible. Same goes for all engines, especially Hondas.. a Honda carb will cost much more than a no name carb that also fits on, but the Honda carb has higher quality parts that resist corrosion.

    v good video. I had to switch fuel line positions(opposite config to this video) for bulb to fill. I had no luck fixing the carb so after 4 attempts bought the www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZFTSYK4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share which worked.
    Thanks

    Ordered carb rebuild kit. Disassembled carb, cleaned carb, put back together following this video. Now waiting on 21 tooth splined tool to adjust L side if idle. Trimmer starts but will rev up then die. Just ordered tool tonight.

    Why didn't you take out the high and low idle screws and clean the orifices out. Would seem to me that would be a very important part so that the adjustment screws would be nice and clean along with their seat. Just curious in all the carburetors I've ever rebuilt I've always taken out mixture adjustment screws and clean the offices with compressed air to be sure there is no contaminants.

    Ok, here is what’s happening: it won’t start and when I tilt it to the side a little it leaks fuel out of the carburetor.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't try to start any gas equipment that is leaking fuel, it's not safe. Fix the leak first, it's likely the leak is the cause of the no-start also. You may need a new carburetor or to replace some fuel hoses.

    Hey OP, I’m cleaning mine via your video and had a question, In the event I’m getting good fuel flow without the filter, how do I clean the filter?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which filter? The one in the gas tank, or the screen in the carburetor?

    Can you clean the rubber pieces in your solution?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've done it and it was OK. There is a small chance Pinesol may affect rubber, but from my experience I've never had a problem.

  • @jogmas12
    @jogmas12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine primes ok but it will only run for a minute or less.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess is that there's a clog or the gaskets are worn out. Full rebuild with new gaskets and ultrasonic cleaning should fix it.
