Just to add extra tip incase people didnt know, if you're in S mode and you want to force the car back into auto (ie stop using the paddles) , click and hold the upshift paddle for about 3 seconds it'll upshift a gear then you'll see the paddle icons dissappear around the gear number (this actually works in all autos with paddles, did im my bmw, does in my mustang) it also works in D mode too but since D mode will return to full auto anyway its not too important (but handy if you accidentally click the paddle)
@Red5oh The other day I had it in Drive and was toggling lower through the gears when approaching a stop light and wasn't paying attention and mindlessly hit the left toggle switch while I was already in first gear. I looked at the dash and the Gear indicator on the console blinked to tell me "You're already in First, dumbass". But then when I started back up, still in Drive, I didn't shift manually and the car didn't shift until I did myself. Is this normal? Did I kick it into Sport by trying to downshift in First gear? I don't remember how it went back into Automatic but it started shifting on its own eventually. RPMs went high but not very. Gear shift never moved, of course. Thanks! (2022 model year.)
That’s a good question. Yes it will still change the gear as it would still click the paddle though it’s not as firm of a press as you’d expect it. Ideally closer to the middle part of the extension the better
My 2015 mustang gt , was in sports mode hit the paddle for first gear , light turn green forgot it was in sports first gear took rpms in the red and with the stereo up loud did not realize it till 15 seconds later i figured the computer would’ve took over ? I hope my engine survives
Yeah I wouldn’t worry about it. The computer should have hit the rev limited and pulled your rpm Down until you shifted to 2nd gear. Rev limiter is there to protect engine. I wouldn’t worry about any engine damage if you did it only once
Your tutorials are very helpful. thanks a lot! i finally get it.. i was a bit stressed out, buying my first car with paddle shifters but not as cool as yours of course, (a toyota yaris ts 2009).. does this tips apply for all semi automatics? mine have's E for Drive. could you switch in between them while driving?
Thank you I’m glad I was able to help out! Toyota yaris are great lightweight cars and using paddle shifters will make it more fun. This does apply to semi automatics as well by using the gear selector. What do you mean by E for drive?
If you select S on the shifter then you have full manual control. Once you engage paddle shifters it will be full manual mode vs sport + mode will disengage paddles if you don’t use them for few seconds and will revert to auto shifting.
So I was in sport mode using the pshifters , and I was getting home from work and I was in 1 gear in the neighborhood street and a truck didn’t see I was cruising about to arrive to my house and backs out I was in first gear and hit downshift cz I paniced is that bad for the engine mind you I was prob going like 10 mph and hit down shift already being in first gear is that bad
Nope that’s fine as you were in first gear already. Since you can’t really go below first gear. As long as you didn’t try to speed in 1st gear and hit rev limiter

That’s a great tip! I actually didn’t even know that lol. I tried it today and it works perfectly. Thanks for the tip!
Can you shift back and forth between Drive and Sport while cruising down the road or do you have to be stopped? Thanks. Enjoyed the video!
Nope you can shift it between D and S without a problem. I do it all the time!

Why is your check engine light on just asking lol I have a 2022 GT coupe
Lol no the car wasn't on it's just in accessory mode. No CEL once the car starts
The information that is missing is if you click on the top part of the paddle shifter extension is the gear changes?
That’s a good question. Yes it will still change the gear as it would still click the paddle though it’s not as firm of a press as you’d expect it. Ideally closer to the middle part of the extension the better
@@Red5oh So... extensions have visual function mainly?
@@kregonPL yeah it’s mainly visual mod but also helps reaching the offers quicker for track days as they are more visible
To be in Sport mode, is it putting the shifter from D to S, or is it using the toggle switch to go from normal to Sport+?
Sport mode is switching the gear selector from D to S

@@Red5oh Instead of D (drive), i have E.. but that's not important will figure it out. thanks for the reply !
Another excellent video, I'm subbing
Thank you so much! That means a lot. Stay tuned for awesome content
First Comment... 👍.. Very Nice
Thank you! Love the paddle shifters extensions
nice vid! whats the difference between being in sport mode through the shifter vs being in sport+ mode from the toggle on the head unit?

@@Red5oh ❤🔥sweet, thanks for that quick reply!

how to launch a paddle shift mustang for drag ?
There’s no launch control so just leave it in S and use paddles. Car would probably be faster in automatic shifting mode
@@Red5oh how can you rev while driving on road
It doesn’t let you go in to neutral to do that unfortunately
