    I’m still iffy with using the paddle shifters on my 2017 mustang after watching this 😭 it’s looks so simple but I can’t afford possibly damaging my engine

      You got this! After few attempts you will be a master! Great thing is that Ford has put safety around it so can't unintentionally over-rev or cause any damage

    Great video. I was driving in sport the other day & accidentally hit the paddle shifter & was wondering why it wasn’t automatically shifting back like the manual says but this video explained that it only automatically shifts back if you forget or accidentally hit the paddles in Drive not Sport. Thanks.

    So what if I use sports mode but I don’t use the paddles and I takeoff from a red light with sports mode without paddles do I have to downshift or anything when I’m coming up to a stop

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you don’t hit the paddles then it will be just sport mode. You don’t have downshift or anything else manually

  • @Yosemite23
    @Yosemite23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So when your at D it’s way easier to use the paddle shifters than on sport mode ? & when you up shift do you let go of the gas ?

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are both same the major difference that D is more forgiving so if you forget to upshift it will shift for you while in S you could hit the rev limiter

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For upshifting you don’t need to let go of the gas

    I recently traded in my 2007 GT manual for a 2015 EcoBoost automatic. I use to shift more by sound in the GT so it’s a little adjustment with the EcoBoost and paddle shifters. Does the EcoBoost in this video have a stock exhaust? Do you have a video that shows the sound of the active exhaust?
    Thanks
    PS: I owned manual Saab 900 SPGs for almost 30 years, first was a 1987. They were also 4 cylinder turbo engines. Whopping 175 hp! 0-60 in a day or so 🤣 I loved the style and engineering but couldn’t get parts anymore because so few were made. So after 30 years had to find another love, found the manual grabber orange Mustang GT 😍
    In a couple of years I’ll trade my EcoBoost in for a manual orange GT with active exhaust. ✌️

      I have a 2017 GT premium and before I bought it I test drove the ecoboost and it's pretty cheezy sounding compared to the Coyote engine and there was no way I would have bought a 4 cylinder

    • @cosmo9362
      @cosmo9362 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheNuzzman I hear you. It was a difficult decision but my GT was needing work and my neighbors knew when I was coming/going, it was loud 😁. My EcoBoost has more hp with 4 cylinders than the GT with 8. I definitely miss the sound and the manual except when I’m stuck in traffic 🙄

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the video has stock Ecoboost exhaust with no active. I have videos on my channel for my 2019 mustang gt with Corsa extreme active exhaust. I used to have 2006 mustang gt, those 4.6 3v sound amazing. How do you like your Ecoboost in comparison?

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah mustang Ecoboost is a great car but the sound really kills me. Even the Focus RS with similar engine sounds better. I personally have 2019 mustang gt with Corsa extreme and I’d say sounds is a huge part of the experience. Although Ecoboost are still great cars they suffer from being called mustangs

      @@Red5oh I’ve had it for about 2 months now. I like it for what it is and feel it’s a great car for the price. It has the premium and performance package on it so has 335 hp/390 lbft torque which is more than my 2007 GT. It also has a lot of modern features my 2007 GT did not have and I really like the interior. My GT had long tube headers and off-road x-pipes which sounded great but was very loud. My neighbors and wife appreciate the quieter EcoBoost 🙄 The gas mileage is better and at $4/gallon is very nice. I miss the manual in my GT, hurst short throw shifter, most of the time. Trying to get use to paddle shifters.
      I will most likely look for another GT in a few years but will enjoy the EcoBoost until then. 😁

    how to you turn the paddles off?

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can hold the paddles for 3-5 sec and it will revert back. If you’re in D mode then it will automatically revert if paddles aren’t used for a bit

    • @karlzhao314
      @karlzhao314 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Red5oh Just bought a base Ecoboost as well, my guess is that it's literally a cash grab. Ford knows some people would legitimately take paddles into consideration when buying the car, so for those people only including paddles on the higher trim levels makes them more likely to spend more and opt for those trim levels. The minimum trim level you need now is 201A, which is a full $7825 than the base 100A.
      That said, the bright side to this is that it's actually very easy to add them back. The entire car is already pre-wired and preprogrammed for the paddles, and the only difference is that the steering wheel physically does not have the paddles installed (this might be the "manual" version of the steering wheel, and manual obviously doesn't need paddles). So all you need to do is to find some take-off "automatic" steering wheel with paddles, which can be found for $150 or so, and install it to your car, and you have full functionality back. I added paddles back to mine a few days ago. You could literally do it in a couple minutes if you get the right wheel.
      (The fact that the entire car is already wired and programmed for paddles is why I think it's a blatant cash grab, and not some legitimate reason like supply chain issues or cost savings. Adding those buttons couldn't cost more than a few bucks.)
