  • Well I did it again, same spot as the EFlite F-16. But not signal loss this time it was brain loss from the fat Guy. Maiden and crash of the freewing 70mm vulcan 6s. That hurt!! Completely my fault, not the plane.
    Thanks for watching and staying up to date with Fat Guy Flies RC!

    I can honestly say I’ve never crashed
    between the hours of 12-5 am.
    The feeling you just had I’ve experienced on my birthday once. A BD present of a .45 Super Sportster I got a week early, assembled, flew on my birthday and looked to my wife as I pulled vertical to show her the performance. I looked back just in time to see it go in straight down at full throttle burying up to my wrist into the ground. I never cuss either.
    Between the hours of 4-5 am if I happen to be asleep. Let’s just say I was awake and it was daylight.
    I hate to see it but you’re a good sport! Ya have to be to enjoy this addiction.

    Don't know how I missed this one - sorry man - this is a good example of why I do almost all of my maidens with a SAFE/AS3X RX onboard, then after several flights I might replace it with a standard RX, When I first saw the crash I thought well thats toast but then as you walked up to it I thought umm should be easy to repair, then as you told us what you found, your right get a new one and keep this one as spares... althought I never trust servos etc.. once they have had a bash like that ... Really did feel for you , towards the end of the video I felt as if you were talking to yourself and convincing yourself these things happen - if it helps I feel for you - I had a A10 last all of 3 mins on a maiden and that even had SAFE - I failed to secure the battery and it shifted into the nose in flight and - SPLAT..... so yes It does happen it is all part of the Hobby , a hobby with highs and lows. literally LOL .. stay the course my Friend ...

      Be sure to have a lot of aileron-rudder mix. The adverse yaw is tremendous because of the full length and fully flying ailerons. In the full sized kitfox you fly using rudder and coordinate the turns with aileron. If you use only ailerons when you bank left the airplane will turn to the right. Very confusing..... Rudder man rudder, lots of it in the mix.

    EDF’s have a high wing loading & higher speed which gives it a wider turn rate. When you put in control it’s best to feed in input and wait for the response rather than ending upsides down. Orientation tips leave gear down & eye tests

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      True I just made a rookie mistake and got disoriented. I should have never tried an inverted cg test on this plane and certain atley not on a plane I am unfamiliar with.

  • @canadianrcpilot9048
    @canadianrcpilot9048 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well - lessons learned are just that ! Personally I would never fly a new maiden model beyond at least a few batteries through it - getting used to how it flys , how it looks in the air , how close or far can I got before orientation becomes an issue. After I have established that particular planes boundaries with me as a pilot - then and only then would I attempt any advanced maneuvers .. just food for thought - Safe is fine - but flying beyond good line of sight depending on the days flying conditions is always a risk. Cheers

I threw the Safe switch, and even heard "safe on" but it was still too late. I'm still trying to figure out what happened. My timing was similar to your Vulcan crash. I still think you wouldn't have had time.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well you have to weight , repairs vs new parts vs replacement. Then make a decisions as to what is the best path. In this case I am going to harvest the parts and put into a ARF jet and then practice repairs on the fuse pieces to start showing how that is done.

    Hi Fat Guy…are you sure this wasn’t a signal loss situation? After the first flight your Flight Log showed 275 Fades and 3 Holds! This is unusual for a 1 minute and 49 second flight. And you said that the same thing happened to you in the exact same spot with another plane. So I’m not convinced that this was completely pilot error. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      It is entirely possible but not the spektrums fault many of my club members have lost planes in that exact same spot and there are futaba , frsky, jr and spektrum and other that have lost planes there. To close to the power lines and the right combination of moisture in the air it seems in that spot.

    I honestly don't think Safe would've rescued that. She was coming into the ground too quick and see her high speed stall as you tried to rescue it. Think switching on Safe would've had the exact same effect. Good luck with the repair 👍🏾

    Not the cause of the crash but about those easy lights: I would toss them or save them for the Christmas tree. They are chunky and induce what is called parasite drag.

    Crash and the comment to view rate goes up. Maybe a chance to cover how to repair foam planes..... 160 F to 165 F water dunking the crunched parts under for several minutes to expand the foam to near original shape. Then dry the parts and glue together. What to use for filling divots, what glue to use, what paints to use. Repairs are part of the hobby unless the $ is unlimited. Crashes are good entertainment but hard on the owner..... sorry man!

      @@FatGuyFliesRC It happens. I framed up and maiden'd a Dynaflight .40 size P-51 and put a total POS Fox .61 on it back in '89. Doing last minute adjustments to the ailerons (one servo for both) I ran out of room on one of the rods so took the horn off the servo to jump over a tooth. Failed to put the servo screw back in. Horrific crash after half a pattern after it vibrated off. On Maiden! Had it but didn't even get to trim. Big first. First low wing, tail dragger and unforgettable mistake. Repaired and re-wrecked several times. Got 6-7 seasons out of it. Shrug it off hah! This hobby is a cold hearted bitch. Happy landings there Large Guy Flies RC.

    Capita ..... Però usare un sistema panic o giroscopio su un modello del genere non ha senso.... Essendo un jet trainer che perdona tantissimo tra le altre cose... Lo stallo é qualcosa di inesistente nel vulcan come gli atterraggi sono tranquillissimi anche senza utilizzare full flap
