    The first thing I noticed was the $100 difference in price. However, the landing gear on the red Yak looks much better.

    The FMS model is great, fast, the turbine sounds nice, with the 3300 package you can fly for up to 5 minutes without saving gas. It flies nicely on the flaps and goes vertically up when necessary. It's really fun to fly :)😎🤙

    I have both, the freewing is way more accurate to the real world counterpart when it comes to the nose, intakes, canopy and the tail. for me i find the freewing flies nicer than the fms.
    I in my 40plus years of r/c never went with hype, and all the big boys (those with very deep pockets) always buy fms just because they could... just like people that buy apple products, for the hype/name/clout so for the Yak my first was was FMS just not to get heckled, i soon after buy the freewing and fms sits there hardly ever used.

      2 of my fav birds of all time are the T45's and Yaks.. so i have a collection of both.

      I dont think fms sells a 90mm yak do they? not that i would buy it anyways LOL

(sorry Captain, couldn't help that !!!) ; as an aside, your video productions (graphics / intro / background music) are just superb !

    I heavily researched these two. The outrunner motor in the Freewing gives more torque initially, but the inrunner is more efficient. I prefer the gear on the FMS, and so it’s my favorite EDF of all time. $275 we’ll worth it.

    I believe you take off on a hard service and land on the grass as it make for a softer landing and this is better for the undercarriage ? or maybe you have no reason which it is 😊👍👍 great looking planes and superb speed✈️👍

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I land planes on grass because landing on gravel is dangerous. As soon as you hit a rock or small hole the plane bounces and often goes back in the air a bit causing a greater chance of a wing tip hitting the ground.

    As of late July 2024, the price spread between the two is approx $100 (Freewing Yak 130 PNP is $239.00 via Motion RC vs. FMS Yak 130 is $339.99 via FMS store). Somehow I think that counts a little more than "a little less expensive" and is a very powerful argument in favor of Freewing. Assuming of course the flight characteristics are otherwise similar.
    Both aircraft seem to have good reputations for being stable flyers. The speed difference isn't enough to quibble about... 101 mph vs 108 mph is not that much and there are any number of factors that could make up that difference like the battery used for example. Dimension-wise, the two planes are extremely similar... I won't say identical, but so close to each other they might as well be.
    I already own several FMS products, mostly cars, and I can and am willing to vouch for the quality of their models overall. The FMS definitely does back-flip well, don't know if the Freewing is as capable. The FMS does have a better landing gear and indeed also seems to be more efficient in power use.
    So the question becomes is that worth $100 to go with the FMS? For the hardware alone? No... definitely not. For the ability to do kulbits? Maybe... It depends on a few things. More in a moment...
    The Freewing is more to scale, roomier, sounds better, and considerably less expensive. Supposedly it can fly a little slower as well. To me it's really a no-brainer. If I knew for sure that the Freewing could do the back-flips, then it would be no contest or debate.
    The reason the FMS Yak can do the back-flips is because of the thrust-line angled slightly upwards. I don't know what the thrust-line on the Freewing is. There's not a lot of info available on the Freewing outside of Motion RC either. Even at that, I've only run across the one content creator on TH-cam that has actually performed this trick. Assuming that the thrust-line is 0* straight, is this something that could be easily addressed like shimming the motor/fan assembly? Logic says that has to be it because the two planes are so very similar like I mentioned above.
    Then there's also the question of how important having that kind of agility is to the pilot. My primary interest in r/c planes is doing 3D, so yeah agility and capability of doing those kinds of stunts is important.
    Yeah, I'm shopping around for a new plane, and are looking at this one rather intently. I do thank you for this video as it has helped put a few things in perspective.
