Thank you so much for this and the newer Fortuner vs Pajero sport video! Pajero sport is clearly the best car in this segment, Thanks again for making my choice much easier 👍
I live here in the Philippines. I checked and watched some of the reviews of this SUVs. Base on what I saw and realized, all of these SUVs has pros and cons. Its just the matter of what you need and contentment. All of them are 7 seater. All of them are capable off road. But if you look closely to their fuel consumption, reliability with the engines, owning them in the long run, you must be very careful in choosing one because there's no perfect car or SUV in the world. Anyway, when I chose and bought our SUV, I chose the Isuzu MUX because of pricing, practicality and reliability in the long run.
I agree with your comment. I am looking for an SUV for the Philippine climate and condition and found out that Isuzu is practical choice. My other SUV in California is Lexus RX 350. Nothing can beat Lexus when it comes to luxury and reliability.
In 5 years time they will all look dated but not the Patrol it has this timeless classic look. And by the way there is a newer version of the patrol. But still nice video 👍🏻
My heart is set on pajero sport. The interiors are class above all of them and the safety features are incredible in the top model. I was a bit surprised when you guys chose fortuner when you yourself said that 95% time is spent on on-road by the families. In that case, interiors, driviability and safety should be the top priorities and I think pajero wins in 2 of those categories. Anyways, it was interesting watching it.
the front of PS is very good looking (and interior is nice looking too), but i dont know whats on their mind when they design the rear side...it looks so damn ultimately ugly..
The PJ was reviewed in a later vid - once the 7seater was released - and it beat the Toyota. I have had my PJ sport for 2 months - great car on road and off.. Far greater value for money than anything else on the market
The Back Of the Pajero looks like the car is crying.. Toyota makes hard core cars and they last for long.. pajero uses all the cheap shit and pretends like it's a luxury car.. TOYOTA IS BAE !!
Popularity overseas... I guess pajero sport/montero sport wins features, safety, transmission, (design which they risk to change totally) unlike fortuner, mu-x it becomes generic I guess "play safe" except Everest...
If you'd seen CarAdvice bitch and moan about Toyotas in just about every other video you'd realise how ridiculous that comment is as well as the 19 sheep that voted your comment up. xox
+Ricky Julian - second by just one point. Read the full article for all the details - www.caradvice.com.au/431436/family-4x4-suv-comparison-ford-everest-v-isuzu-mu-x-v-mitsubishi-pajero-sport-v-toyota-fortuner-v-nissan-patrol/
To put it crudely, these 5 cars are all pickup-trucks turned SUVs. Not that it is a bad thing, it is what's underneath that gives them their off-road capability.
I think the isuzu mux is the best among the said suv's in rhe video, its confortable, it has huge space inside, it can do what others can and its the cheapest one 😁
+djp4nfa Serious? Lol I saw one the other day and couldn't stop staring not because of envy but because of how incredibly ugly it is. Don't get me wrong it has a nice interior and its a pretty great 4x4 underneath but its exterior has to be one of the most ugliest that I've seen a while.
Best channel in reviews. Trent is right, those ISUZU diesel engines definitely goes forever. Do you guys think the mu-X is better than a Trailblazer even if it is jointly developed?
the ford everest 3.2 is full off features compare to the others, it has the ff: 1.lane departure 2.pre collision warning with auto brake 3. driver's reminder 4. normal and adaptive cruise control ( very important to me) 5. auto high beam ligth ( very important to me) terain management with lock differential 4x4 6. voice command 7. very ligth steering at low speed become normal at high speed 8. ambient lighting controlled
At the end of the day it’s all about reputation of many years. The Pajero sport may have all the fancy toys and all but it’s about what will last you longer. In my opinion after driving some of the SUVs in the video I would go for the fortuner because it has the best compromise. Instead of being outstanding in just one aspect it’s better to be consistent in all aspects so as to get the best value for money. Yes of course if you get the top of the range Everest you may say it’s better but you have to make sacrifices. Where as to with the Toyota there is less sacrifice to be made.

+kybron irjames there are only couple of differences like 8 gears which montero has and panoramic sun roof but nonetheless they are both great no need to state things which is wrong.
I did my research in Montero and Fortuner, because last week i was planning to buy a SUV. My comment was based on my observation and dealers testimony. And I'm comparing their (basic) base or entry level not the 4x4. FYI. There is no panoramic sun roof on both entry level or basic level of Fortuner and Montero.
I was going to carry on a bit but I knew any Toyota product was going to win , they could show up with a 20 year old Camry and still win , obviously getting some kick back boys ! The rest of us know the Mitsubishi is the best mid size wagon going for touring and the mighty Isuzu the most reliable and toughest tow vehicle here . Most of us know it , considering the small amount of Isuzu dealerships , their sales figures are exceptional and had the Sport have a big T badge on the bonnet , it won by miles .
Great review but I wish we could see the uncut full length discussion and off road videos. Would have been long but really interesting. Shame you didn't include the Toyota Land Cruiser, I would have thought the lastest model would have been the benchmark to go with rather than the old Patrol especially given the lack of safety and modern tech features of the Patrol.
Guys go and see the top spec ford everest ! Amazing car , and for load haulers , it has tow assist , Terrain management system , all sorts of toys that you get in higher segment vehicles ! Sad you are comparing low spec everest with other top spec ones !
MuX may not have the strongest or fastest engine, it may even have one of the loudest engine while idling and running. It may not even look cool or elegant. But I value my MuX. And WE value our rides. Because its features like space, reliability, relative ride comfort and ease of maintenance matter most for us.
Australians reviewing Toyota. If the Toyota was a big piece of steaming turd, they'll still give it the thumbs up. Conclusion is Australians love brand loyalty here.
Yes - but the point of including it, as noted in the written comparison, is that the Y61 Patrol is potentially owned by a lot of viewers/readers looking to upgrade to a new car. So this way it highlights where improvements have been made - and since the car is still available new, where it may still suit some buyers. Plus Nissan don't offer a pickup-based SUV at the moment.
Why not Compare their Entry level AT for those who can't afford the high end level - Ford Everest, Isuzu MUX, Mitsubishi Pajero Sports, ToyotaFortuner and Nissan X-trail.
I own that patrol and it's supposed to be the best it's comfortable at the back and it good at towing and off road I did some towing some off road and everything is awsome and flawless
I noticed a line on the article. It says: As you might have guessed, all of these cars are made alongside their ute stablemates in Thailand. In other countries the Fortuner made in Indonesia is exported to many countries including the Philippines except for Australia. The Fortuner should be made separately from the Hilux in Indonesia. Because it will cost cheaper than Thailand-made model. Also just ask Toyota Australia if they have plans to import the Fortuner from Indonesia rather in Thailand.
Pajero sport has a very nice interior!! Quite a surprise. but i'd probably also chose the fortuner because i like the interior and also exterior along with the way everything is laid out on the interior. It also drives very nice too!! If i had the money to afford one, then i would most definitely buy one but with a bull bar because it just makes the car look that much more aggressive.

Maybe because Toyota Fortuner is typically design for South East Asia market which similar to Australia 🇦🇺 off-road situation, don’t blindly compare with others regions off-road review, that’s totally different environment, this review is very reasonable
Patrol is the true off road king that can just about go in every single terrain...while most of these can do rocky-off road...Patrol is the only one amongst these that can lap up the desert sand with ease.
Even at factory stock spec, the Mitsubishi would make mince meat of all other pickup-based midsize SUVs on- and off-road. Hauls arse, handles like a car, good towing, amazing off-road capability, costs a lot less even at the top spec, at par with if not the one with the most toys and safety tech and with reliability down pat.. only a sod would choose another. 😁
can you guys do a 2016 Lancer review? (preferably the LS with leather interior?), remarkably difficult to find a good review online of an AUSTRALIAN option, hoping the exterior and interior changes this year are as significant as they seem. Thanks.
+CarAdvice.com.au funny, but some of the changes to this year's model are more than what was done with some of its competitors e.g. mazda 3, subaru impreza, Hyundai i30 making it quite intriguing, and we're still seeing new reviews on them, would be good to see a good Australian review on a 2016 lancer LS (leather) :)
Try the top spec 3.2L Everest. No way anyone can even "compete" with it. A little bit of PS. But it's the rear design of the new pajero which will affect its sales.
+Ivan Delos Santos You are right, I would get the MU-X, but not for the interior lol. I don't think buyers in this segment pick the car for its interior, i pick it for reliability, fuel economy and off-road performance.
My point of view. You guys did well with the review. Thanks. I would never buy a Toyota or any of these newer updates. Over priced by $10k $15k. Why. Just to get the extra gadgets. To me it's a car. Not a PlayStation lol. Sorry but patrol hands down for me. Tech don't last for to long. And I differently don't like the alien look of these new tin cans.
Been using a Pajero for the past one year - it's a 2016 3.5 liter Platinum Petrol model. I live in the UAE. You can't get a better judging of the off road capabilities of a car than in the middle of the desert. The Pajero wins by far in many tests I have put it through. Even elevated roads - it wins quite smoothly where many "4WDs" struggle. And for the price you pay you get more car!!
he just said the top specs pajero sport is the cheapest among the bunch and also missing the seven seats ......i think the pajero is a well engineered ,brilliant car....but the rear is a bit of dampener to me ..rest features are great ,a great cat there.....
Thank you so much for this and the newer Fortuner vs Pajero sport video! Pajero sport is clearly the best car in this segment, Thanks again for making my choice much easier 👍

Good video but lets be honest, toyota probably paid caradvice or gave them a fortuner outright for a win in this segment.
exactly
Yah actually Isuzu win...
i agree with you,, everest must win,, but they dont use the 3.2 titanium
Emmett Hudson agree...else the pajero would have won, if honesty was a factor

All the cars are price matched. Everest base is the same price as Pajero Sport top - etc
i agree with you , they pick the low en variant of everest not the 4x4 titanium
Its a base model on 4x4 line

Both the Everest and Pajero Sport come in 7 seat spec now. I wonder if this would alter the result.
Great comparison!
Honestly you should upload a video of the complete offroad session you had with those 5 cars
I was going to ask the same thing.
ford ranger 3.2 is the best SUV 4x4
Pajero sport 👍
The only bad thing about Pajero Sport is when you rev hard it will blow out black smoke like an octopus but nonetheless worth the buy.
Off road test with different road tyres, quality testing right here
the patrol is a class above the rest. a full size SUV as opposing the mid size pick up based SUVs.
Yes - but the point of including it, as noted in the written comparison, is that the Y61 Patrol is potentially owned by a lot of viewers/readers looking to upgrade to a new car. So this way it highlights where improvements have been made - and since the car is still available new, where it may still suit some buyers. Plus Nissan don't offer a pickup-based SUV at the moment.
except that the patrol is 500bc old
Definitely isuzu for value, prices, and reliability.
That Pajero look hideous from behind. Put a Ssangyong badge, it wouldn't look out of place.
Richard Joash Tan Why so?
great review 👍
Mitshubishi Pajero is the best....
Why not Compare their Entry level AT for those who can't afford the high end level - Ford Everest, Isuzu MUX, Mitsubishi Pajero Sports, ToyotaFortuner and Nissan X-trail.

So is the pajero sport basically a challenger thats been rebadged with a bit of different bodywork ?
+allan grey well yes and yes again. Different body because new model. New chassis.. not sure.
Even if the patrol is old its job is fabulous

I was listening to this comparison with the sole interest of off-road capability and unfortunetly what I've been given is a tick.
CX3 (agility) ...Sportage (comfort)...Pajero Sport (offroad ability).....buying a new SUV in 2016 under $50k requires some serious decision making...
I think i might be the Everest or The Pajero Sport
ford Everest for me is one of the thoughfest SUV....
unfair they dont use the everest titaniun 4x4,, the choose the low variant
hahahah are you fucking kidding me?
well you really are certified keyboard warrior :P
they had to to keep the pricing even. which is understandable they are trying to keep the everything the same and judge that way.
Heard of the Ford's transmission issue?
"Transmission malfunction.. service now.." -- LOL
Do you see any negatives in the 18inch wheels on the Pajero Sport for off-roading? Are AT tyres becoming more common for that size wheel?
Pajero sport has a very nice interior!! Same here :)
superb review dear all
Toyota Fortuner all new is a great suv.. you said it
These look like SUV that are capable offroad, unlike the crap we get in the United States. We may as well call our SUV's minivans in the US.
Nissan Patrol : Mother of All SUV Kings!
Nah. Its landcruiser
Brian Jake nahhh, Nissan Patrol ...it set the baseline......
The patrol is tough but softer than the landcruiser. It doesn't have front diff lock.
And Nissans are not known for their reliability. No offence
Brian Jake you keep your landcruiser, i keep my patrol.
Nice one! Nice JUDGEMENT!! Toyota is the best of all SUV's! Godspeed! :)
nope.....pajero is faster then fortuner lol
magnifico...good review...
Maybe because Toyota Fortuner is typically design for South East Asia market which similar to Australia 🇦🇺 off-road situation, don’t blindly compare with others regions off-road review, that’s totally different environment, this review is very reasonable

If price is the issue then Mitsubishi wins but every thing else I’m not convinced
Being based on Hilux probably contributed towords the decision making quite a bit. But is that just a good enough reason? I guess it is in this case.
+No Way they are all based on their utes ie hilux ranger dmax triton
+wax333 yeah I agree. but hilux is the class leader in sales. that's what I ment.
he just said the top specs pajero sport is the cheapest among the bunch and also missing the seven seats ......i think the pajero is a well engineered ,brilliant car....but the rear is a bit of dampener to me ..rest features are great ,a great cat there.....
Yes fortuner is the best
Should include Chevrolet Trailblazer as well.
Hooray for the Fortuner!
Montero or Pajero sport looks more luxry than the other Suv
