    Would like to know if you have measurements that compare the 6112 extended length and travel compared the stock Badlands ESV Bilstein?

    • @ShockSurplus

      They are about a half inch longer than the stock Sasquatch parts fully extended and the same length fully compressed. So a touch longer than what you have no in both avenues, but not much. If you are looking to gain travel get the Icon 2.5 EXPs instead

    I have a procomp leveling kit and now my truck sways from left to the right when I hit bumps. I did have the alignment fixed and it's better, but will 5100's eliminate this horizontal sway?

    • @ShockSurplus

      The Bilsteins are digressively valved so they should offer a lot more stability in those conditions, however it sounds like their could be some funky geometry at play if you are getting a little yaw over bumps. What kind of vehicle is it?

    I recently bought the 5100 for my f-150 2015 RWD and for some reason the control arm would hit the strut. What could be the reason for this ? I’m on 33s with 18inch rims

    • @ShockSurplus

      This really would only happen if you added a spacer on the 5100 or you were running a 4WD spec 5100 on your 2wd.

    Question: should I always zip-tie the shock's boot to the tube?

    • @ShockSurplus

      It depends on the shock but most shocks that use an accordion style rubber boot will come with or need a zip tie to retain the boot to the body

    Rod size is bigger on the 5100, most applications at least.

    • @ShockSurplus

      Maybe that is something they used to do, but on most applications they use the same shaft 14 and 18 mm shafts. The 2.6" body 6112, 8100, and 8112 struts, shocks, and coilovers do get larger shafts though.

    I have a 2023 Ram classic.

    Which one will be better for daily driver, not off-roading at all. Is it worth to install the Bilstain, will have improvement over the stock?

      4600s would defintiely be the way to go if you are keeping it stock height and on the road. They should offer may better handling, stability, and comfort over stock.

    I have a stock 2014 gmc sierra. It has a stock factory ride height with stock suspension. Only mods are the 17” rims and 33” tires. Will I be fine putting on the 4600 or do i have to go with the 5100? I dont plan on lifting the truck at all.

    • @ShockSurplus

      With the larger tires it would likely be better to run 5100s however you do not have to lift the vehicle to use them.

      I put 5100s on my pickup (video in my profile), I have 17" wheels with 33" tires, the ride is about as perfect as I could ever need it to be. 2008 GMC Sierra, these pickups go really well with Bilsteins.

    Why do bilstein the number as name of the model between 4600 and 5100? Is 4600 represents the 46mm piston?
    And 5100 represents 51mm piston or as lifting applications?

    • @ShockSurplus

      No that is it. The 5100s struts are ride height adjustable and the shocks are longer and designed for lifts. They are tuned a little firmer as well but outside of that and the zinc plating the internals are identical

    • @toyotabrony

      @@ShockSurplus so my question is, why bilstein add zinc plated shocks? Instead of paint.
      A protective paint last longer than zinc coated.
      Why not paint silver gloss for B8/5100 instead? They did on rav4.

    • @ShockSurplus

      Zinc plating will far outlast paint when maintained. If you occasionally spray them with a light lubricant like a teflon spray, the Zinc will basically last forever. It also is a stronger coating that is far less likely to chip when hit with debris. Vehicles that use strut suspension like the RAV4 do not have the same concern about being peppered with debris or getting hung up on a rock, so they went with paint on the B8 Terrasports.
