Yes, the screen does wobble a bit when placed directly under a ceiling fan. Not noticeable but during a video call people would think you're in an earthquake.

I just bought the 15" version for $850, then upgraded to 32gb RAM for $90. Great value with decent performance. I'm not a heavy gamer but not having it sound like an jet plane when I start Tabletop Simulator is nice.
Just got the Harvey Norman version of this laptop (which comes with the 300 nit screen), and if anyone's wondering - the screen wobble only happens on hard surfaces. On soft surfaces (such as your lap) it doesn't happen :)
Victus outperforming legion 5 in many benchmarks is something very amazing and surprising . Also the gaming performance is almost on par many times. Hope you had the 100%srgb screen. Its phenomenal. Best review of victus till date

You do realize that India has the msi gf65 thin with a 3060 (though a i5 10500h) for much cheaper than a victus with a 3060. And HP will give us the bad quality control models.

@@friendlyatheist9589 Dude, what? Its a 6 core i5. Basically a i7 10750h. And that processor wasn't a bottleneck for even 2080 max p's. The ONLY downside to the msi gf65 thin is blocked vents (might wanna drill some holes below the fans and slap on a grill). Hell msi even allows you to undervolt that i5 10th gen. Even the gimped 75w 3060 will still be a vastly better option than a 3050 or 3050ti. And the msi is the lightest of these 15' gaming machines.

I recently got this laptop in the UK region. It’s screen brightness isn’t an issue even outdoors and the screen wobble is no where near as bad as Jarrod makes it out to be. Also the screen feels *so* responsive and the “delay” is unnoticeable. Amazing video again Jarrod and if you are looking to buy this laptop I would 100% recommend. 👍
The victus quiet an impressive laptop for an all around-ish perspective. Tho I’m still confused why my nitro gets better thermals than this victus , better game performance and higher cr23 (12555) out of the box compared to yours (only diff is 5800H) . But great review nonetheless!

When fan is behind me, it doesn't wobble haha, so just a matter of air placement. I decided to buy this over nitro 5 and I find omen too pricey already. Looks good to me, more professional looking, surprisingly sound is great too 😁
So - for anyone interested enough to read the comments almost 8 months after this video release. I've got victus with 5800h and 3060 inside. As of BIOS F.13 CPU power draw reaches 55W in steady state and 65W for short turbo (around 5s peak). Both in default mode and performance. In Silent mode it goes down to 25W. GPU goes at 30W in silent, 80W in default and 95W in performance. All measured by HWinfo. Those differences in CPU TDP make Victus cpu performance almost on par with Legion 5 pro 5800h now. In my opinion default mode in Victus is now better than default for Legion. Though Legion still can boost to around 80-90W in max performance mode.
And come with 2x8 dual channel ram and 1 tb SSD...I'm considering that against a Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3, 5600h same 3060, but with 8 ram and 500 SSD...but cost 300€ less. I fear the latency on screen will be notable...
@@abccba5125 Well. I kinda got tired of Lenovos teribble QC. Earlier - I wanted to go for Legion 5 pro with hires screen (preffered it over victus'es one). Tried 3 times. Every time there was a problem with dead or hot pixels. So I finally settled on Victus :) Which all things considered is not perfect - but Lenovo became a big no-no for me after this. 3 Legions, all bought from different shops - all with lcd matrix defects from the go.
🤔 maybe it's a problem only for that specific model, not an issue quality of the brand...I've heard complaining about HP also...the fact is I think that processor for primary gaming purposes seems a bit superfluous? With that GPU it can perform almost same with lower CPU (5600h)...and can easily install additional ram for cheap...that said, I have an Acer notebook not strictly a gaming machine, but it has problems since early times and now I have to switch, Asus notebook also got problems, I think low/medium tier portables have something not just round tailored any case ...maybe it's time for HP 🤨

As for ram - always plan for replacement. Cause they use slow x16 shit. I'v replaced mine in victus too, it was not only x16 but also 2400mhz cl22 :)
i have it and you can go for it blindly, wobble is not a issue(also mine dosent have this much wobble as shown) , battry is amazing, but make sure to take high refresh rate one, also its a finger print magnet(black one), and 1650 also has good speakers.

The best thing about the Netflix series The Night Agent was the wobble of the Victus! On certain episodes, you can see it wobble! But nonetheless, the highest spec is a good mid-range gaming laptop.
Jarrod, for the fan speed settings issue, it will revert your changes if your profile mode is set to auto. If you want your settings to stay you need to change it from auto to manual. I own the RTX3050 victus and my region states 99% sRGB but I have no way to confirm it. Cooling is great though because the RTX 3050 is only 75W.

I found other reviews that show amazing srgb rates and brightness levels. Why is it nearly impossible to know before buying how good the screen will actually be 😭
When mux switch is not present, frames are processed by discrete GPU but have to pass thru IGPU. The IGPU can bottleneck when fps is very high like 80+. Using Mux switch or external display bypasses the IGPU to eliminate this bottleneck. But mux switch is costly to implement, so most manufacturers just connect external display ports directly to discrete GPU and native screen thru IGPU.
I promise I don't mean to sound rude, but you could just Google it. It's a pretty easy explanation to understand - think of laptops without a mux switch as a series connection from the DGPU to the display, and in the middle, there's an IGPU. The IGPU always causes some drop in performance when it's involved, but it's amazing for battery life. Whereas, a laptop with a mux switch is like a parallel connection. The IGPU route can be cut off, so the display is directly connected to the DGPU - which means better performance (~15%), but worse battery life. But you can always turn it back on, for extended battery life. Best of both worlds.

For new people, you should quickly explore MuX switch and Optimus in every video...i still dont know what it means..
When mux switch is not present, frames are processed by discrete GPU but have to pass thru IGPU. The IGPU can bottleneck when fps is very high like 80+. Using Mux switch or external display bypasses the IGPU to eliminate this bottleneck.
But mux switch is costly to implement, so most manufacturers just connect external display ports directly to discrete GPU and native screen thru IGPU.
I promise I don't mean to sound rude, but you could just Google it. It's a pretty easy explanation to understand - think of laptops without a mux switch as a series connection from the DGPU to the display, and in the middle, there's an IGPU. The IGPU always causes some drop in performance when it's involved, but it's amazing for battery life.
Whereas, a laptop with a mux switch is like a parallel connection. The IGPU route can be cut off, so the display is directly connected to the DGPU - which means better performance (~15%), but worse battery life. But you can always turn it back on, for extended battery life. Best of both worlds.
