I purchased a HP i7 Victus, even though the screen wobble is something that I expected better from HP. Having said that the laptop in general has so far worked well. I am also glad that you are a reviewer that can see positives in the HP Victus. Many reviewers are not as kind. It is a shame because in general it's a nice looking laptop and does what it is suppose to do. Thanks for your positive outlook.

I also got the i7 12 gen model and i agree it met all my expectations. As a laptop gamer one of my worries were cooling and performance since i had bad experience with my previous laptop, but not only is this thing a beast and can play basically anything, it also has phenomenal cooling for a laptop. Like i was genuinely surprised by how cold it was even after hours of gaming. The fans do make a lot of noise but that's a trade off im willing to take for good cooling anyday

I’ve been looking to buy the 4050 i7 HP Victus because my og HP omen (which is identical to the new victus) is starting to go and I’d really love to know from someone who actually has one whether it lives up to the expectations of the older omens. I’ve had several laptops bought and returned in the last year that are supposed to be the best in the market and none yet have held a candle to my little nearly 9 year old Omen. However, I hate the look of the new omens hence why I haven’t bought one. The victus I love the look of. Could you say whether the battery and cooling is any good as I’m willing to immediately buy one if you think it’s good. I’m in desperate need for a new laptop.

    • @joerinaldi5
      @joerinaldi5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Like I said in my previous post, the Victus looks and performs very well my only big issue is the wobbly screen. It is very fast, but I’m still using my old Toshiba Satallite. I haven’t yet transferred all my files to the new Victus, because my old Toshiba is still very reliable and easy to backup. I think the only real reason I purchased the Victus was for the speed usb-3 so I could play the more modern games.

Just picked up one of these for $600 at walmart running a rtx 4050. Havnt bought a laptop in probably over 10 years. I’m pretty blown away with everything on this. The screens a 144hz ips 15.6” with decently power hardware, enough to run most games at a high framerate, and if im not playing games, the battery is surprisingly long lasting. Im finding I get roughly 8 hours of watching videos on it. 2 usb a ports, usb c port, hdmi, ethernet, sd port, headphone port. Its amazing the cheap laptops are STILL the ones with all the port functionality and paying more gives u less ports 😂
For 600 bucks im impressed with todays budget gaming laptop market. No it doesnt run the most cutting edge demanding games. Battlefield 2042 in a big 128 man map with all low settings 1080p runs like crap around 30-50fps. But games like counter strike, rocket league, league of legends run like butter at 144fps. It did only come with 8gb of ram and 500gb drive. But memory is stupid cheap now. Another 8gb sodimm costed me 20$.

Lol I snagged this exact laptop for $400 on facebook marketplace cause it had a broken keyboard, replaced the keyboard it works perfectly. Also anyone wondering on random fps benchmarks:
    All 1080p
    1. Mhworld highest settings - 60fps
    2. Halo infinite med - 60fps/high - 40-50fps
    3. Destiny 2 highest settings - 60fps
    4. Minecraft textures plus ultra shaders and max settings for graphics and render distances - over 60fps, take off shaders easily 200+ fps
Vsync on for most these games, take vsync off and you get higher fps
Also the laptop is perfectly comfortable to use, I agree the screen wobbles but just put it on a table, also the fans run a bit loud on max usage but it also cools itself very well so you can use it at max and not worry if its gonna melt or burn you...

I've had two HP Pavilion gaming laptops. The first one was fixed twice under warranty for pixel failure. This occurred a third time - out of warranty - and then the keyboard died. I gave up and bought another one because I was able to stack a few discounts together and it came in very cheap for the specs and thought I must have just been unlucky.
This next one lasted all of 3 months before being back to the service centre for--pixel failure. I found HP's customer service to be torturous to deal with. I still quite like it. It looks nice, has a great keyboard and runs games very well. I don't honestly think it would survive many trips to clients' offices though, no matter how many ports it has Pretty much everything flexes if you squeeze it and the trackpad is now loose. I wonder how long that wobbly Victus screen will actually last.
Sometimes, things being cheap comes with a cost. I will probably look at Asus next time as they seem to be pretty solid.

i bought the AMD ryzen 7 5800H, RTX3050ti, 16 gb ram, 1 TB SSD model and been using it for 2 years. here is an honest review for you.
i bought it only for it's specs, not considered anything else such as brand name, case design, weight, fan noise, thermals etc.
    POSITIVE :
+It works great as expected from these components.
+no thermal issue and no fan noise so far.
+cheap price for such high end components.
    +144 hz display refresh rate.
+AMD laptops are quite rare on INTEL dominated market. HP Victus series were the only ones with complete specs by the time. Because other brands had either low-end CPU/GPU or their SSD/RAM would need an upgrade.
    NEGATIVE :
-the case has absolutely no radius corners, it hurts my palms when i'm typing. radius corners is a general rule in engineering but i guess they skipped it to save price (i still don't think it would be an extra cost tho).
-made of all plastic, it weighs quite a lot as 2,5 kg (it might be due to high end components).
-the power button is between F12 and DEL and it's the exact same size button with the others. you can accidentally press it while using backspace or DEL buttons and shutdown/sleep your PC if you didn't re-program it to do nothing when pressed. I guess this is also saving cost to not move it into top left/right corners of keyboard just like other brands always do (p.s. good luck finding the power button in a dark room).
-battery discharges at a rate of 3% per day. i disabled usb charging and fast startup from BIOS and power settings and it didn't solve it. I called the HP support and hoped that they would change the battery under warranty period by saying that it's a faulty battery. They just connected online to my PC and operated some HP diagnostics tests and verified from BIOS that my battery needs no calibration. Also said that up to 5% discharge per day is totally normal, therefore they won't change my battery.
To sum up everything, buy it if you care nothing but performance. Connect it into a monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as a desktop. However always keep in mind that a desktop with even lower-end components would outperform the laptop. And it would cost much cheaper. Not to mention that you can't upgrade nothing else but SSD/RAM on a laptop so it won't be a future proof investment.
My honest opinion on gaming laptops, due to thermals of such small casing and poor performance of components compared to desktop version, consider them as being a solid mobile PC that you can carry everywhere. Always go with desktop if you are a serious gamer.

Has anyone been able to use Softwares such as: Unity, Blender, Maya 2020, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine, Visual Studio, and Zbrush on this
HP - Victus 16.1" Gaming Laptop? If so were you able to Render 3D Models easily in the 3D modeling programs? I'm a Game Design major that wants to make the best decision to purchase a budget-friendly laptop with a decent performance.

Yep! Works splendidly. It takes a slight bit of time (keep in mind that I have the Ryzen 5 version with Nvidia 1650 and 8GB ram) but it's nothing too torturous

I have Asus budget laptop expertbook 2451FA from 2020. It can be expanded both in regards to storage, ram, and even WiFi card. It has both HDMI and VGA. High end Asus machines can neither be upgraded and many don't even have HDMI.

I'm from india! Ur review on victus is amazing! But there is no launch of victus intel varients in india. Its only AMD processor... So is ryzen 7 5800h good??????

    • @danijacob9525

ryzen 7 is obviously better . intel is still stuck making ancient processors. for example : ryzen 5 4600h from last year is almost equal to intel i7 10th gen from last year (both processors are in different price categories. so performance of intel i7 is supposed to be better. but instead ryzen 5 had equal processing power compared to i7 and it completely destroyed intel i5 )

@@shashwatshekhar6867 there will be small difference . if you are doing heavy video editing, streaming, coding, rendering etc then get r7. can do all of that in r5 also, just a few seconds slower. if you are average user r5 is enough

      @danijacob9525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@allenwalker9928 you mean intel just started doing what AMD was doing since 2020 ? the whole reason intel decided to improve was because they lost market share last year due to better amd cpu's with new architecture and more cores. Of course its the customers choice. nothing wrong with intel's new processors . if you have the money sure get it. I personally suggest getting AMD chips that are priced lower thats all. you can spend the money you save on other accessories this way

I recently bought this laptop and looking forward to receiving it soon! Thank you for the review.. Was looking all over the net for a reliable source.! First proper review by someone who's had an actual hands on experience..
I just had one question.. Can we upgrade the storage though? Do we have an extra slot or will we have to replace the current stock ssd?
