The Sportster S has that Revolution engine which is similar to the Revolution Engine that comes from the V Rod only it is dressed up a bit differently. If you don't need a dedicated hi-way machine and have the resources to own a touring machine and want a bike to roar about on and for quick overnight rides I think the Sportster S would be perfect. Did I mention the Revolution Engine?????

I have a 320 mm single disc on the front of my NC750X and it weighs roughly the same as the Sportster S. The braking power is very good on that bike and I have no complaints. Considering the FTR makes a bit less horsepower per lbs and a bit less torque per lbs and runs 11.32@120mph I would assume the sportser s could possibly bang out high 10's with a pro rider and a hearty launch. But I forsee seeing a lot of riders running 11.0-11.2@ 120-122mph with the Sporster S. I guess we will see when production models start dropping.

It seems like the Sportster S is in a hard to devine class of its own ATM.
Handling is more of the cruiser. Thou the engine leans more to sport, the frame, low ground clearance and very short suspecion travel is not.
The BMW has much more of the sport DNA. It lacks the Torque but has buckets full of Hp and handling belongs to a 100% sportbike.
I would love to see that Harley Bronx with this 1250 revolution engine. (tuned to 140Hp and nice torque range)

Thanks Peter. Bang for buck, good idea! I'll see how I can work that in for the next one (it looks like it's happening). The Trident will be featured in that one. 👍

everyone pays for different items; so hard to do as one buys bikes for different reasons/comfort//power/fun . Todays comparisons above are a good example as many not even in the running for a sporster S.

power to weight using torque makes no sense. they make their torques at very different rpm`s, making 1ft lb of one bike be way more potent than the same 1ft lb of another bike that makes it at lower rpm.
Always use HP, the HP calculation is invented to portray real world performance, where torque numbers arent very relatable to what you feel and hear from the vehicle itself.
Torque numbers are irrelevant without stating at which RPM they are, HP numbers are always relevant since they are calculated with RPM in mind.

To 60 diffrenc really come to weight distribution and tire and clutch work rather than to power and torque in such powerfull bikes 👌🏻 diavel is no slower 0-60 than rpcket 👌🏻 and 1/4 mille you predict good 👌🏻 bmw ,ducati, rocket, sportster sand last 48 👌🏻 bmw above 130-140 eat them alive 👌🏻 or even sooner anyway as son as wheely would not anymore limits power delivery and driver be able to use peak power without end on hees back 👌🏻 from this point bmw leave them in the dust 👌🏻

All of these vs this and that is really a mute point. Harley Davidson was merry show casing their new engine, technology, and the new direction they are going in moving away from big primary, pushrod, hot air cooled motorcycles/engines.
