That was more entertaining than I'd expected, seeing the Sportster S against some heavy names. Hoping for a part 4 and more unexpected comparisons! Z900rs hopefully!
The Sportster S has that Revolution engine which is similar to the Revolution Engine that comes from the V Rod only it is dressed up a bit differently. If you don't need a dedicated hi-way machine and have the resources to own a touring machine and want a bike to roar about on and for quick overnight rides I think the Sportster S would be perfect. Did I mention the Revolution Engine?????
agree; but look at cost of parts, maintenance vs others; after you have it. If i want a passenger seat, pegs, sissy bar; forward pegs on it; I pay with my right arm !
I like the Sportster S for what it is(“sport cruiser “?)and at it’s price point.It’s very competitive at a lower price, but there is still something nostalgic about the older evo sportsters that can’t be ignored.They are raw and primal.And now cheap!
@@jayboorum4524 Sporties have always been cheap. A dime a dozen. I like the real old stuff, the sportsters from the 60s That's some real rawness, but the look sharp and they were simple.
I would love to ride them all but that's not possible in Australia nowadays. Most manufacturers and dealers expect you to just buy the bike without test riding and as such don't keep demo bikes.
All I have to say in the long run who wins over all cost warrantee coverage repairs and reliability time down let us now it's all in the game of the future and down the road LEMAY

I have a 320 mm single disc on the front of my NC750X and it weighs roughly the same as the Sportster S. The braking power is very good on that bike and I have no complaints. I'm not seeing any reviewers complaining about stopping power. But having said that, the Sportster S also has double the HP of my bike. Going to be interesting to see what the consensus is long term.

I should've mentioned. The times were sourced from sites like www.zeroto60times.com/ where times are compiled from actual drag strip runs and various credible sources.
i had a 900 xr sold it; cant compare to sportster as those who buy are older; want to sit lower; ride for comfort wtih a passenger. I'd never do that on a 900 XR ; Its a great bike for sure for single rider; but rides higher; heavier.
Considering the FTR makes a bit less horsepower per lbs and a bit less torque per lbs and runs 11.32@120mph I would assume the sportser s could possibly bang out high 10's with a pro rider and a hearty launch. But I forsee seeing a lot of riders running 11.0-11.2@ 120-122mph with the Sporster S. I guess we will see when production models start dropping. EDIT: I see you pretty much came to the same conclusion I did after watching the video entirely. Glad we are on the same page lol
Great video. How does HD add a passenger seat and a 120mm front tire and wheel? I rode the VROD Muscle in the past. I ran it up to 150 mph on the speedo. Wish I could have verified it with a GPS.
No pillion seat or luggage available. Harley doesn't want you to have everything. I'd say Triumph is the only one of these that gives you the best of all worlds.
yes the selection is out of range or style of the sporster S. I would have the vulcan S as the closest for passenger riding. other sport bikes here ; well S1000 is not near it. any sport bike triumph 900 gt pro is a stretch also but not same style; at all. anyone can compare power specs; its not the point !
Sorry but just comparing dead data on paper of motorbikes is the most useless thing you can do. Nothing you say will feel the same on a street and comparing those bikes life.
That's true. But this is all I can do I'm afraid as we don't have the luxury of test riding bikes in Australia. This is how I alleviate my frustrations.
This comparison is for somebody who needs science understanding. I own a Rocket 3R and is easy to run 10.5 seconds. This bike is highly factory restricted. Without any mod you can easy catch 220 Hp, simply change stock maps. Now, riding this bike with 220 Nm imagine the reason why 6xt gear is only for relaxing engine...
These are all good points. It's probable a Sportster S with a FuelPak could run low tens or even match the BMW with a small rider. Somebody will do it.

It seems like the Sportster S is in a hard to devine class of its own ATM. Handling is more of the cruiser. Thou the engine leans more to sport, the frame, low ground clearance and very short suspecion travel is not. The BMW has much more of the sport DNA. It lacks the Torque but has buckets full of Hp and handling belongs to a 100% sportbike. I would love to see that Harley Bronx with this 1250 revolution engine. (tuned to 140Hp and nice torque range) The Bronx would be much more the "Sport" in the name Sportster, if you understand what I mean.

Entertaining, but clearly biased and rigged -- cgi doesn't expose FACTs. The Triumph Rocket IMO is clearly the winner not just in shear RHINO power but true sculpted elegance from head to toe while you're riding on the smoothest turbine feeling engine in the production world. I gotta get a Rocket!

power to weight using torque makes no sense. they make their torques at very different rpm`s, making 1ft lb of one bike be way more potent than the same 1ft lb of another bike that makes it at lower rpm. Always use HP, the HP calculation is invented to portray real world performance, where torque numbers arent very relatable to what you feel and hear from the vehicle itself. Torque numbers are irrelevant without stating at which RPM they are, HP numbers are always relevant since they are calculated with RPM in mind.
To 60 diffrenc really come to weight distribution and tire and clutch work rather than to power and torque in such powerfull bikes 👌🏻 diavel is no slower 0-60 than rpcket 👌🏻 and 1/4 mille you predict good 👌🏻 bmw ,ducati,rocket,sportster sand last 48 👌🏻 bmw above 130-140 eat them alive 👌🏻 or even sooner anyway as son as wheely would not anymore limits power delivery and driver be able to use peak power without end on hees back 👌🏻 from this point bmw leave them in the dust 👌🏻
All of these vs this and that is really a mute point. Harley Davidson was merry show casing their new engine, technology, and the new direction they are going in moving away from big primary, pushrod, hot air cooled motorcycles/engines.

On Ducati's site Diavel 1260s for Europe market has 1.62 hp and 2.5 0-100 kmh.

The diavel is faster than the rocket in 0-60 and 1/4. It hits 2.5ish to 60.
For sure. Not even in the ballpark to compare!! Why not triumph speedmaster. As its a foot forward cruiser, and also not cheap

Now that some ride test videos are coming out, I’m still concerned about the single front disc and fat tires.

The triumph has an engine nearly twice as large so it's not in the same category try a 1200 speed twin against the 48 it's more equal.

I see no reason that Harley Davidson could not have released this bike 10 years ago!
They did, it was the VROD, but they failed to take the VSCR motor and apply it to other bikes beyond the VROD.
