  • In this clash of the two U.S. counterparts, one could speak on paper of a comparison at eye level: Two water-cooled V2 engines with over 120 hp from the U.S., weighing about 230 kg and equipped with an expansive license plate holder. But is that enough for a comparison?

The foot peg position and overall stance on the FTR is way better. I don't know what Harley-Davidson was thinking with those stupid forward pegs.

Youll be happy to know that Harley offers a Mid-Foot control kit that can be installed by the dealership for like a few hundred bucks. I tried one out at Daytona Bike Week and it ROCKS. I also hate forward footrests, but the mid-control kit makes it perfect imo. It was more comfy than the FTR, accelerated harder, but didnt like to turn like the FTR

Because everything you'd want on a Harley is something extra.

Harley but really both are equal in almost any comparisons...HD aftermarket is tough to beat

What about that Buell?? 186 hp, over 100 ftlb of torque, it blows em out of the water with its power to weight ratios, (but it's real close to the FTR)

The INDIAN FTR’ is a evocation of Indian’s dominant, FTR 750 flat-track racebike, Sharper and sportier chassis geometry than the Sportster S .- The FTR is a real step toward Indian holding a significant slice of the sport standard segment. It will have to be the INDIAN FTR for me. If I were to choose a more cruiser-like performance bike, it would be the beautiful Indian Scout 101. Sorry Harley.

$21,995 for a 2023 Sportster s (16,900 + $5,000 in HD Blue sky mark up with no finance deals so 12% and up) VS $13,059 for a 2023 FTR Sport @ 1.9% 36mo ,4.9 48mo or 6.9% 60 mo ... 5.10" and the sportster felt tiny and cramped. I have an 08 Vrod and it feels better than the Sportster S for comfort, power and size. Bought the FTR due to handling, better riding position, better braking, sport bike feel and better service and dealership experience. The $8,000 cash I saved buys a lot of fuel and hotels this summer. Done with Harleys Pride pricing games.

I threw a leg over the FTR and hated the ergonomics. I ended up with the Sportster S and added a bar riser to take the bend out of the back. In truth, the FTR would handle better but unless you are looking to really push through turns at speed, just go with the one that suits your riding style.

Love my 2022 FTR 1200s. Quick shifter kits are available aftermarket. Take a minute to tweak the suspension settings and longer rides are a lot more comfortable. 🤙🇺🇸
