    I am surprised that Sig stopped making the P225 A1 since California and some other states only allow 10 round mags since this only takes 8 plus 1.

  • @ChristophKohring
    @ChristophKohring 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    A few corrections... The P220 was first made in 9mm Para & 7,65mm Para & only later was it made in .38 Super as well as in .45 ACP (a few .22 lr conversions were also made by SIG-Sauer). The P220 -and not the P225- is the pistol of the Swiss armed forces where it is known as the P75. The P225 is known & was always known as the... P225! It is only among the (West) German State police where it was issued that it was known as the P6 & so marked.

      Thankyou Christoph for the correct info. The P220 is known in the US as a 45ACP but it was originally a 9mm when first introduced as a single stack full size sidearm in Europe in 1977. The P220 became a dedicated 45ACP when the double stack 9mm full size P226 was introduced in '83 I think...

    It's such a nice gun, but 9 rounds of 9mm out of a pistol that's the size of a Glock 19 and 30 ounces. IDK.

    Very Nice Review! I enjoyed watching. We will be doing our own review on this Sig P225-A1 sooner then I thought, as my local Gun Store was able to order one for me yesterday! So 1 to 2 weeks is what I was told, and Keith's Sporting Goods has always been good to us. I look forward to reviewing The Sig 225 and the question I am already asking myself is..... Will it be a Glock 43 Killer for me, since I really did not like the Glock 43 very much. It just did not fit my hand very well. Is The Sig 225 A1 the choice for me? Time will tell.
    Keep up the great work. BERETTA9mmUSA Sr.

    Nice review, Justin. I picked up a used P239 in 9mm 2 or 3 years ago and it is my carry gun. I put the SRT on it, which I think Sig should put on every gun they sell. My 239 isn't as smooth as my 229 in .40, but it's not bad. Looking forward to the GA review. See if you can put a picture of the 239 next to it so we can see the difference in the two. Thanks!

    If you are reviewing a P225 A-1 Why not call it so? Some people will be confused by you calling it a 225 when in fact the 225 A-1 is an improved 225. Always remember your audience may be new to Sigs and if you want them to subscribe try not to confuse them. BTW I love my Sigs all of 'em including the 225 A-1.

    Had A German P225. I loved it. Bought the new P225A1 even before Sig even had it on its site. 27 pound DAK Mainspring is way too strong. Had the Sig Armorer do a trigger job with QRT and a 21 pound Mainspring. Gun is now a joy to shoot and dead accurate.

  • @jklphoto
    @jklphoto 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Seems like the direct comparison would be with the M11-A1. Only apparent difference would be twice the capacity-15 round mags.

  • @metzden
    @metzden 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent review. I have the new P225-A! and find its accuracy to be exceptional. Have owned a couple of double stack Sigs in the past and found the trigger reach for me was a problem. The slimmer design of the 225 has solved that problem and I agree the SRT is a delight for smoothness and quick shots. Still getting use to relearning the initial DA trigger pull but it definitely has been in my carry rotation. The checkering and G10 grips are a nice improvement from my old Sigs as are the improved night sights that work well in daylight better than most I have experienced. FYI I was able to get extra mags quickly from Sig. Keep the vids coming.

    I also saw your review of the P229C SAS. You commented that the P229C was very smooth and shot like most 9mm in your experience. Having said that, which of these two would you prefer as a carry pistol? Given your time with each firearm. I have no experience with the .357 sig round. If there really is no measureable difference in the "shoot-ability" of these two firearms, I believe I may want to give the P229C a try. Thank you for your videos.

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      P229C is indeed a sweet shooter in both .357 SIG and .40 S&W. The reason I felt it shot as smoothly as most 9mms is due to the ergonomics and weight, and well chosen recoil spring. For carry though (even though that's what the "C" stands for, it has a couple of challenges: Thickness and height. It has a full height grip and magazine, which can be a printing concern. But the P225 is not all that much shorter.... If you have a chance to shoot them both you should. But I consider them both excellent guns (and both are overdue for more range time!).

    My "First 8" Review
    I bought this handgun based on this review- the trigger broke after the first 8 rounds. I'm serious- I took the pistol out of the case for the first time, loaded the magazine with SIG branded ammo and fired it at a local gun range. Somehow after the 8th round this gun fired the trigger would no longer reset or drop the hammer in single or double action. I don't think I can stress this point enough- this was after the 8th round of this brand new pistol. 8, not 18, 80, 800 or 8,888 rounds. 8 as in 2 less than 10. 8 rounds of new factory manufacturer recommended ammunition fired under normal conditions turned my 1,000 dollar SIG P225A1 into a paperweight. Making matters worse, because this is a new model pistol no gunshop or gunsmith has any replacement parts so I had to send this gun back to SIG Sauer for repair. Adding insult to injury, SIG Sauer treated me like some sort of criminal and jerked me around on the phone for 30 minutes before giving me an RMA # and didn't even guarantee that they'd be able to repair the gun (I literally can not wait to find out that I have to pay for service due to my "negligence"). I used to have a SIG P225- now I have a FedEx tracking number and a SIG work order number neither of which shoot very good groups.
    Needless to say that this will be my last SIG handgun and there is no way that I could ever trust that this gun would be reliable when I needed it the most. In summation, I still have 92 rounds to go before I get to my "first 100" with this particular handgun but my advice would be put your money and time into another gun. Like any other gun- a slingshot would serve you better.

      @JustinOpinionChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jack Irby Wow. Very sorry to hear about your experience. I haven't had a chance to shoot mine again since filming the video, but it is one that I want badly to take back out. I understand (only too well) your frustration and disappointment. I hope that this ends well after the pistol comes back repaired. I hope you'll post a follow up comment - either way it goes. I love SIG products, but I have no affiliation with the company and owe no allegiance. I have purchased every single SIG Sauer pistol that I have ever reviewed. Most are gems - some are not. Again, sorry to hear about your experience, Jack. Hang in there!

      +Justin Opinion Well the gun came back from Sig all fixed up- took it to the range and shot 100, I'll be a little more confident in the gun after I put 1,000 or so through it without an issue.

    I believe a better comparison would be the M11A1/P228 vs. P225A1. Why would you choose a single stack vs. a double?

  • @protectiverailroaddad7541
    @protectiverailroaddad7541 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As much as I love this gun and all p22x sigs I just can't believe the suggested retail of a 30 oz 8+1 single stack 9mm is $1200. Somehow sig could have brought this gun to the market at a suggested retail of around $800 but they would rather be greedy. You can get a legion p22x for $1200 and I think you would be getting way more gun for the money. All that said, I really want this pistol lol

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jeremy Jones LOL, I get it. But considering your own comparison, the MSRP of the Legions is over $1400 and you indicated that $1200 is a realistic price. I think once these P225s start sitting on shelves a similar reality will exist. THAT SAID... it's still steep. Is it worth it? Something I plan to opine on in my full review. I enjoy and appreciate the feedback, because it helps me prepare a more rounded perspective.

    • @protectiverailroaddad7541
      @protectiverailroaddad7541 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Opinion fair enough. I'm seeing legions here and there for around $1100-$1200 so hopefully these can be had for $300 under msrp eventually as well. It's not like this is the first single stack $1000+ handgun created, I'm just mad I can't go out and buy one right now lol

    • @jonnychiro
      @jonnychiro 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jeremy Jones I agree with your comments but I just picked one up on GB.com for $860 (w night sights.) Love my 226 and it's hard to justify the need for the 225. Still, after handling it I just had to get one!

    Its a very nice DA/SA pistol and I'm sure that people that are well off financially will buy them. Good thing for me I was able to buy a Bersa 9mm Ultra Compact for a third of the price. Has just as good of a short reset trigger, holds five more rounds, 4 ounces lighter, all metal, Decocker, shorter in length and height, has a picatinny rail, and every bit as reliable. P225 is a little thinner, night sights and has a better finish. Better pistol to brag about owning. If you can afford to pay more for a pistol than the manufacturer deserves .... Good for you

    A mistake not to use a 10 round mag like the one the Shield Plus uses. Could have been a big success in states/nations with a 10 round mag capacity limit. That said, I prefer the bigger trigger guard on the original P225 that's better suited to use with heavy gloves, for which use the variant with the heel butt mag release is best as it cannot be accidentally released by a gloved finger/thumb and is easier to operate with such gloves.

    I keep trying to talk myself into buying this gun; without success. My heart says yes; but my mind says, NO! It reminds me of what my buddy said about a mutual, female friend. "So much to offer; yet, so little." I bought a TALO Edition, Glock 43, and a Walther PPS M2, LE Edition; for a combined cost, less than this pistol. Even taking into consideration, the great ergonomics, features and Sig quality; it's hard for me to see how this would replace either of these two guns, in my carry rotation; or my Colt, Lightweight Defender, and Ruger LCP II. Really nice gun, though. Thanks for your review(s)!

I want to send it back in, but can u complain about a loose slide?

    Love this new release, but wow... the price ridiculous. I've been eyeing the old p225/p6 for a year now, and I guess I'll have to go that route instead of getting the latest version. The old ones are listed at $400 in my area, but I can probably pick it up for $350.

    Very nice single stack 9mm, I opted for the P-239 gen two all the same features. It has gone through the Sig custom shop and was designed for CC and has the best trigger of all my SIG's or any other DA/SA triggers I've fired. I'm sure the 225 offers 10 Rd as does the 239 as one would expect it's a shooter. I'll be looking forward to a range review.

    With a safe full of "more modern" choices, how can I justify this pistol except that I wanted it the moment they reintroduced it. The older I get the more I'm gravitating towards single stack not so tiny pistols and not giving a rats butt what experts and younger more arrogant people say or think.

    Hey, just received my P225. I loaded the mag and chambered a round. I went to eject my mag to top it off and it stuck. In fact it sticks every time I try it. Tried both mags and does the same thing. It seems the next round in the mag moves forward a bit preventing it to fall freely. I am wondering if you had this issue?

      @JustinOpinionChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LOMROB Guide rod is hollow steel. Envy you the Legion - my sources are completely dry.

    It sure love me like SIG could have made it a '9+1'. As is, I'd rather have a P239.

    P/U my P225 A1 and put a couple hundred rounds through it. Wow! I really like it. Bought the model w/the contrast sights but had my LGS, I purchased the gun from install a set of the new Sig Xray night sights. These are the sights Sig is putting on the Legion series guns. They are made by True Glo and are a great sight. Very comparable to Trijicon HD's. I love your reviews and thoroughness of them. Please keep them coming.

    it's a cool gun but for how gigantic it is the capacity is piss poor at best! so many other pistols that are much much better for the same roles as the p225 (aka the p229 / p320)

    • @gordongreeson6923
      @gordongreeson6923 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the trigger. Tender is all I can describe it. It draws back like a knife through butter and you don't pull you're shots. The reset is unreal. Hopefully Sig will come up with a 10 or 12 capacity magazine.

    You are correct. Some say the DA shot is a "throw-away." That is an idiotic statement. If you cannot shoot a DA shot well, you need some practice. I've only been shooting 3 years, and for me, I'm estimating there is less than 1" difference in the DA and SA.

    • @jonnychiro
      @jonnychiro 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Snowog183 That's not an issue at all, as say, for the way it might be in a P938 or P238. The grip is full size. It's amazing! Best ergos on any handgun I've ever held. Even better than my P226 w Houge G10s and that's saying a lot!

    I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on this gun. I know it's a bit large and heavy for 8+1, as you discussed, but it's a shooter. Mine has been great and I've been cc it daily, it's the rotation. BTW, excellent review!

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bunk Man Thanks. I do know one very high profile writer that has one, and I'm sure he'll do a review at some point but it has been oddly quiet. Timing may be part of it, but also because it stands outside the mold. But you and I know better, eh? Shooter is right! I can't even look at it without picking it up and holding it. :-)

    • @jonnychiro
      @jonnychiro 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Opinion Give it time. Reviews will come filing in. There's a lot of forum chatter and comments that are largely upset for it not being backward compatible (mags etc.) and the price tag On paper it's somewhat hard to place where the reissue 225A fits best. I felt conflicted as it didn't make "sense" to place in my line up next to my 226. But after handling one I just had to get it!

    I shoot like you do all over lol. I went through about 600 rounds in DA only a couple of years ago in my 226 and I've gotten to where I almost prefer the DA. So I agree that's nonsense to suggest the first shot is a throw away. For me my first shot is very often one of my best.
    Enjoyed the review, you need to show off your collection some time as it seems you've put together a very fine one.
