I got rid of a glock 19 and got the 225a1. After using the sig, you couldn't give me another glock. It carries easier and safer.
, and shoots and groups better. I feel safer with a hammer fired gun as apposed to a striker fired one.

Welcome to the dark side, I also have a Sig 225 A1 but the Classic edition (wood grips) love the gun, wish the capacity was better but honestly 8+1 will do. The trigger on mine is better than my M11A1 and both of my 229s. Figured I got lucky lol.

Thanks for another great video. I just bought one in 2024 and it goes for $635 to $685 on Gunbroker. The 225 A1 is a nice CCW and range gun because of the combat accuracy and recoil impulse. I agree with the baby Legion reference.

West Germany used the P6, the P225 was for export and had a lighter main spring. Then Sig dropped the 225, and brought out the P239 in1996-2018 chambered in 9MM, 357 Sig, and 40 S&W. Also the P239 was single stacked.

I watched several videos on this gun and fell in lust with it. Took it to the range and fired 100 rounds of 124 grain then 400 rounds of 115 grain. My right side grip came loose around the 300 round mark. I hand tighten it, but it came loose again. I hate the 10 lbs trigger in DA and will replace the spring. However, I do love the gun. It's super accurate and feels great in my hand.

Yup I know they work, but it's like going to the fanciest Supper Club in town & taking thee ugliest date hanging on your side,... ain't happening with me. Having carried alot & still do carry 8 +1 round 1911's with a couple spare mags, when the flannel shirts come out, I've certainly never felt lacking for firepower in any way, and find that sweet single action only trigger a dream to behold, just like a beautiful date !

Why would I pay Sig Sauer for a P225 A1 single stack 8+1 round, 30oz., 5.2 inch high, almost 7inches long gun, when I could have a P239 in 357sig? {7+1} much smaller & still easy to control. Sig made a BIG mistake taking that gun out of there line-up. The other argument would be there are way too many high quality 9mm on the market that hold at least 10+ 1

The date today is October 4th, 2022. I have finally ended my search for my 225 A1 since I just found a brand new one! I always wanted a Classic Edition but that I did not find. This was a very difficult gun to find but I did and being a Sig lover, those all metal, hammer fired, DA/SA's are simply unbeatable. The A1's SRT is awesome. I'll be sure to let you know how it performs and then I'll reveal where I found one new and unused. I'm now going to begin a search for the Classic Edition wood grips. 😋

Good review. The P225/P6 was actually the first iteration of the P225a1. The a1 is a remake of the P225/P6 but with improvements, even though there are few similarities. The P225a1 is intended to replace the P239 in that size category. I like both the P239 and P225a1 and own both.

"You can get twice as many rounds in gun that's the same size, and weighs less--I don't understand why anyone would buy this gun." .....says the guy who's target looks like it took a negligent discharge from a sawed-off shotgun.
I have a P239 (same gun, mechanically, as you pointed out). The DA is super manageable and in SA I can pick off the numbers on a silhouette target at 10 yards. Groups are tight. Ergos are right. Maybe someone can wring that kinda performance out of a G19/M&P... but I've never seen it. Not saying the G19 doesn't have its merits, but there's a reason guns like this still have a place--and cost more. Thanks for the insightful video.

The original P225 (P6) is better suited to use with heavy gloves due to the larger trigger guard. A huge mistake not to incorporate that feature into the design of the P225-A1 and not use a semi-staggered 10 round mag like on the Shield Plus... they used a P239 mag with a ludicrous extended baseplate. Such a pistol with an accessory rail for a white light would arguably be the perfect civilian police service handgun.

I’ll stick with my original p6 ( manufacturer date 11/80.) yes it my be under rounded but look at all the sub compacts when they came out. 6 7 8 rounds where what they came with. Weight wise it weighs the same as a loaded g19 and is roughly the same dimensions ( lxh ) as a g19 ( yes had both) double action was really heavy, put “ lighter “ spring in it doable. P6 is my carry gun, as well as steyr m40 and rock island fs 1911 . Weight really isn’t that different between them. So that’s my take.

It’s a bloody shame the P225-A1 is only purchasable in the USA. I live in Switzerland, across the pond in the centre of Europe and the only version available is the older P6 version of the P225. I hope that the P6 will perform as good as the newer A1 version despite the age. :-/

Over the years of shooting DA/SA SIGs , I like to shoot 1 shot DA & 1 shot SA , then de-cock , do it again & again .. I have found No Issues ( No 2 impact areas ) on the target , when shooting 2 different triggers . I have found if you shoot slow double action , it's harder than if you smoothly pull through at a faster pace , just keep the sights lined up as you do it .

Hell of a deal. I remember you mentioning it on your stream and come across one in my recent travels. Used in like new condition for $890!!!!
SRT triggers are a must for me on DA/SA sigs. As much as I love my 229s they don’t get carried. The ASE and the legion literally feel the same. Other than the legions controls being a bit slimmer. I’m sure you’ll enjoy shooting it and hopefully you can get some upgraded sights.

The Sig 225 A1 is a single stack. It has a brother in a double stack known as the M11-A-1 another brother is the P 229 Compact but it has a rail. The P 229 Compact series holds 15 +1 but is available with compliant 10 round magazines. Overall a nice pistol and there is a P 229 Legion but I believe it around $1000-$1100.

Like it. Like Sig in general .& CZ’s. Both of those are very nice by the way.I agree completely with you about having to hold a handgun to feel if it’s right for you or not. Would you happen to have any information, positive or negative, pertaining to the Chiappa rhino that you could share with me. I’m very interested in the 200 DS or a 30 DS. I have been looking for a rhino ,of any model ,to at least hold in my hand to feel it and check it out. Ideally find one at a shop that had a range on premises & shoot one . I’ve gone in about 20 or 30pawnshops & gun shops in the last two years or so. No luck. Haven’t had a chance to go to a gun show lately. I’m thinking I could find one add a show. Everyone that I’ve talked to about them has a different opinion of them. From what I hear ,and it makes perfect sense, is that the later the manufacture date the better as far as reliability and any problems the earlier models had being resolved. Figured I’d ask you even though it has nothing to do with this video. I enjoy your videos and you seem to know your stuff so please let me know if you have any info you could share with me. thank you

PS. A rhino and & a second or third run of P365 are at the top of the list of wish list -next purchases\investments. I say third run on the 365 because i’ve got a big jar I put my pocket change in. When it gets full It’s generally right around 850 to $900. 2/3rds full so Getting one of the two soon . I’ve broken that rule a time or two but try not to buy things I can’t afford to pay cash for.

I've had this gun for a few years. It is basically a "baby Legion" and yes, I've owned two Legions. People complain about the capacity, but the benefit compared to Sig's higher capacity handguns in this similar size, is IWB you barely notice that you are carrying it. I carry AIWB and sit most of the day and this is VERY comfortable. It's also a very consistent shooter and built like a tank. I have no idea how many rounds I have through it, but not one snag and it's eaten all types. The single action trigger and short reset on this make it a dream in this class.

I do not EDC mine anymore, it is stored above the toilet for JIC. I opt to carry the P320 Compact .45 now because it’s almost identical in size, feels lighter, and has one more round of .45acp. It’s not as accurate for me to shoot as this 9mm, however, I’m still quite proficient. I will always miss not having a double action trigger when my guns are appendix carried.

I even have the original German leather holster and mag pouches for it and sometimes I even open carry it on the weekends in that set up
Its not the most accurate for me, but I can put a fist sized hole in someone at 25 yards and that's all this gun needs to do
Buying a 225 now though? Immensely overpriced in my opinion and I prefer the square trigger guards of P6s over the curved one on 225s. If they made a "modern" P6 I may be more inclined but for 800+ dollars for a 225A1? No thanks

Did a lot of research and comparisons before purchasing. It was my primary carry until it was stolen. I then purchased the 43X. I love this gun……BUT…..I missed my 225 so bad that I bought another one. Never Ben happier with a handgun. It just “fits” my hand and is an extremely precision instrument. I am always most “on target” with this gun. Hard to find. Worth the search.

I did a project on an old German p226 changed out all the parts with new and i mean every part. I think it is better than my the legion
    List parts
Barrel, solid stainless steel guide rod, Trijicon night sights, grayguns trigger, short reset trigger G10 grips, new hammer spring, and a cerakote job. And probably a few other parts that I forgot to mention. It was a fun project but it was a little spendy I probably could have bought a legion and a half lol.

The PCR weighs about 24oz without the mag, the sig its about 30oz. PCR with cajun triggger is better IMO

Galloway Precision makes the mag a 9 round capacity. If you can afford $13 to $15.00.

That's cheap for a Sig magazine. If Sigs name was stamped into it they would cost twice as much.

Was a little surprised to see you cover this gun since I think you are not really a Sig fan. This gun has had my interest for a while. I really like the classic P series Sigs but the trigger reach for me is a little bit of a reach. This P225 may some that. I bet it is a pleasure to shoot!
