Another awesome video filled with valuable information!!! Don't know if you've heard about this but Loctite brand thread locker is actively trying to get off-road riding areas shut down. They do not like dirt bikes. So using any other brand of thread locker in your videos would help not promote Loctite brand. I originally got this information from Charles at the MXRevival TH-cam channel so please feel free to confirm this information with Charles. Charles has switched to Stuck Nutz brand thread locker, because they are a pro dirt bike company, and are now actively supporting his channel. I'm hoping you could also get a sponsorship from them. Just to let you know I don't work for Stuck Nutz and I do not personally know Charles but I hate the idea that a dirt bike hating company is getting any promotion on a channel that is about dirt bikes. What solvent do you use in your parts washer? Just picked one up and unsure. But your parts come out nice!

@PuMpAcTiOnPeTe no, don’t use diesel. A descent equivalent would be industrial strength Simple Green that you can dilute to a mixture that works for you. Also, acetone can help degrease small parts but don’t use that in a parts cleaner, extremely flammable.

Question, can putting oil on the threads of the main head bolts cause issues with expansion when you torque it down? Where does the oil go? Great video by the way.
The point is to just lubricate the threads and washer. Don’t fill the hole with oil because it will have nowhere to go and will certainly affect the torque. We just don’t want to put them in dry.
Hey quick question I saw you honing the cylinder out with the ball hone I have always been told not to do because of the coating so will it not hurt it?
Yes, it is necessary for a proper break in. Those scratches hold engine oil to help lubricate the rings especially on engine startup. There is a specific hone used (320 grit aluminum oxide). It will not damage the Nikasil coating if done correctly nor will it fix any cylinder issues (peeling/damaged plating, out of round, taper). Keep in mind, not all cylinders are honeable. Hope this helps.
I’m doing a rebuild on a 2008 rmz250 now. If the cylinder looks good, is it important to measure and match a piston? Or can you just buy the same size that came out of it?

Dude, i have a question, the person before me striped the oil drain plug case of my rmz 250 09 and i was going to retap it but if i go any bigger its going to hit the case bolt beside it. Do yoy have any suggestions maybe to fix it?
The only simple solution is to Helicoil it to the next size. Other than that you would need to have the hole welded up, redrilled and tapped (or replace the case half)

I can appreciate that. I put the time, money and effort into the mechanical. It is not always cost effective to bring the bike back to new cosmetically. The next owner can replace the seat if it bothers them. Not sure if you have seen but the world has gone crazy. People want 1500 for clapped bikes and sell values of good bikes have dropped drastically so I have to juggle what would be financially responsible.

Have you ever heard of blue Loctite failing when the manual calls for permanent or high heat locktite?

A lot of people get rid of the jutter springs in the clutch. You know why?

Looks like everything sits flatter your way. And the bolt holes are facing up when you get it together.
I’m not sure you could do it the other way. The transmission needs to be assembled in the right side of the case.
