    Love the fact you would rather save the bike where most people would part it out or sell it cheap. Good to see keep up the good work mate.

    Very impressed with your production. I understand the effort that it takes to provide content. I've always been a 2 stroke vintage guy but have recently ventured into the 4 strike world. Have two YZ250F in the shop at the moment. Your timing couldn't have been better. Thank you for your effort. Ken

    Would like to see you get some 80s-90s XRs/CRs into the mix. Know with that kind of attention to detail and determination, you’d have no issue resurrecting them either

      My sentimental bikes…I want an 85-87 CR125R or 250R to restore for my collection. Very nostalgic for me. I did an 83 XL600R full frame off restoration years ago (before my TH-cam days). It was amazing looking.

  • @travisr896

    I agree on bringing a dead bike back to life.
    I bought 3 bikes that guys told me were “They had the top ends rebuilt but all they needed was something small”
    Long story short both bikes needed complete rebuilds, motor,shock,forks and all.
    Cost me $5600 to have a shop do the first one and $5300 for the second one.That was a a complete rebuild on the motor that was already pulled out and top end ripped down by me.
    Only reason why I didn’t do it myself cause i was going to replace the top end till I seen it needed a crank.
    So didn’t have a case splitter plus in a hurry got the shop to rebuild it.
    Probably cost me $7000 to do that one from what I paid for the bike.
    People tell me “$7000 to rebuild an old bike? For $4000 more you could of just bought a new one”
    I always tell them “True but that’s still $4000 more I would have spent and it’s a different feeling when you bring a dead bike back to life than it is when you just go buy a new one.Plus I have an older bike that’s rebuilt back to new that will last me another 5 years or more depending on my riding.

    • @restoroosterohv

      I appreciate your comment. I see it all the time “just rebuilt, lost receipts”. Also, the “just needs a new spark plug to run” is laughable. If that was the case, they would just put a new spark plug but I guess it works for their sale. Another one I like is when they say “just needs a little work I just don’t have time to ride anymore. Will trade for other dirt bikes”.
      Off of Amazon, you can grab the splitter and installer tool for under $100 and do your own bottom end builds. It’s not difficult at all.

    As a tech I always feel bad for bikes when they get to this condition. You can just tell when a bike has been neglected and not fixed correctly over the years. Missing bolts...incorrect bolts....band-aid fixes....oil leaks. When I get bikes like this in my shop most customers never even want to fix them because the estimate to get it running is as long as the estimate to get it road/dirt worthy.
    I have a CBR600RR in my shop now that simply needs a fuel pump to get started....but also needs like $2k in parts and labor for non engine related issues (tires, fork seals, brake pads, chain and sprocket also oil pan is bad)

    • @restoroosterohv

      You are right. It would certainly not be worth it if a customer had to pay all the labor and parts to restore one of these bikes. Thank you for watching and for your comment.

    One positive about this particular bike is that you have a black tank on it. Most people want to run black plastics on these bikes but still have the stock blue tank on it. Now, as for seeing any indication iof your fuel level in that black tank...you're outta luck.

    • @restoroosterohv

      I actually hate black plastics but went with black for new because of the tank being black. Cool thing about these is it has a reserve option on the petcock.

    • @restoroosterohv

      I would venture to say that you probably should replace your timing chain and tensioner if you don’t know when it was last done. That is just for preventative maintenance and could potentially be your issue but without hearing the sound, it’s tough to tell whether or not it’s a piston, slap, wrist pin noise, or something from the valve train.

  • @adammcdivitt9516

    I'm guessing piston hitting the valves.

    • @restoroosterohv

      I use black RTV and a hard roller. This spreads the sealer evenly and eliminates excess squeezing into the cases. Here is the link on Amazon.

    • @restoroosterohv

      Jetting is a trial end error process and some factors need to be observed. You start with base jetting for your machine (2003 YZ250F Main 178 Pilot 40 Clip 4th Pilot screw 1.75) and adjust it for your altitude and temperature test riding and plug reading to get it right. I would start by checking your valve clearances for hard starting.

    My 2002 yz250f has a really bad sputtering problem at 1/4-3/4 throttle. I went through the carburetor and cleaned. It starts and idles perfectly and still has a ton of power do you know what could cause this problem?

    • @restoroosterohv

      If the sputtering is at cruise throttle, you need to adjust your needle that is in the slide. It’s a bit of trial and error. Raising the clip will lower the needle essentially leaning out the mixture in the range you are having issues. You may have to play with that adjustment until you get it right.
