Hi Everyone! A reminder this is my personal experience and what I chose to do with my baby. I had suggestions from both a sleep trainer and our pediatrician, but I still adapted what worked for me. I find hearing other people’s stories and tips can help shape what you decide to do. Wishing sleep and happy times for all of you! ❤️

My tip is to follow your baby’s lead. They will let you know what works for them. The standard sleep training method do not work for everyone. Adapt and make changes. My baby needs to be comforted so i pick him up and help him stop crying and calm down. While it is taking much longer, it is working for us

Hi there! I have a 9 month old son named Logan! & I’m also currently expecting our second child! We live in Ocean Grove, New Jersey!
The best tip I can give is to get your baby on a schedule!! It makes the biggest difference!
Some other tip I’d like to share is remember to take some time to stop & look at your child & just soak it all in. Getting them to sleep can be a very stressful time! Sometimes it feels like it’ll never end & you’ll never sleep again! But this time will pass, & soon enough your baby will be sleeping through the night all on their own! You’ll look back on those sleepless nights. So just take a minute or two each night to reflect on how precious your child is & how quickly they grow.
    Best wishes to everyone! 💖

Some tips I have for sleep training based on watching Susan's sleep training videos and reading sleep training blogs from taking cara babies and the baby sleep trainer..
sleep training to me is one of the best things we did for our child and family. Sleep and rest are very important for our baby's development and for us as parents. I highly recommend 1) put your baby on a schedule. Don't be afraid to wake them up during the day when their nap time is over. Then, let your baby sleep for as long as they want at night. This helps them distinguish night and day. 2) set up a SAFE SLEEP ENVIRONMENT. Babies sleep better in their own space wether you are bed/room sharing or not. Make sure their crib has nothing on it besides mattress and a fitted sheet. 3) black out curtains/ blinds. Make sure the room is dark. This would help increase their melatonin. 4) white noise machine. This will drown out the noise around so we can go on with our lives while baby sleeps. 4) swaddle blankets/ sleep sacks. This will help them understand that it's bed time. 5) night time routine. You can give your baby a bath, feed your baby, read a book, say a prayer then put your baby down in his/her crib. Say goodnight then walk away. Don't pick up your baby if she cries. Give her some time to learn to self sooth before you check on her again. Do it in increments. Maybe let your baby cry for 5 mins before you go back to her room. Then 10 mins next time.. whatever you are comfortable with. But never pick your baby up. They will eventually get it. They are way smarter than what we think. 6) DISASSOCIATE FEEDING AND SLEEPING. After feeding your baby, wake her up if she falls asleep. Try to do something else after feeding her, like reading a book.. then put your baby down, DROWSY BUT NOT SLEEPY. This will teach your child to go back to sleep on thier own if they wake up in the middle of the night. 7) baby monitor. It is very important for me to be able to check on my baby everytime i want/need to without interrupting her sleep by getting inside her room. 8) temperature. The room should be cool. Babies do better in a cooler environment. I keep my baby's room between 68-73° F 9) make your research about sleep training. Try to apply everything you have learned before you sign up for the sleep training classes. That could be expensive.. this is what I did and it worked out for us. A lot of sleep trainiers have blogs and ig stories full of tips as well. 10) make sure your baby eats enough during the day to keep them full through out the night. That way, if they wake up, you are confident that they are not hungry and thier sleep cycle has to start again. 11) remember that it will be hard in the beginning.. but think that this is just one of the MANY things that we will have to teach our child. It will be all worth it in the end.

Just to diversify the comments here in case some mothers are not sure whether they ‘should’ sleep-train: whatever works for you. Our daughter was exclusively breastfed, did not take a pacifier and was never left to cry. She was rocked, breastfed and hugged to sleep through all regressions, sicknesses etc. She woke up less or more often…Both me and my husband have co-slept with her. She is 3.5 years old now and sleeps just fine and we don’t regret how we did it. And just like this, a few months ago she suggested to her play date that she should sleep over at their house. And did with zero crying or wake-ups in the night, we picked her up happy in the morning…Between this and the extinction method, there is a variety to pick and choose from… and remember, next thing you know they will be demanding sleep-overs ;))

This is my second baby and I did a more gentle approach to sleep training (we did CIO for our first). My baby is 9.5 months and my tip is to work on their nap schedule first to make sure they are tired enough and ready for sleep. This helped us so much because the nap schedule made her night times easier.
We are based in Los Angeles, California.

Angeli Gette for the nap schedule, if I want my baby to sleep around 6-7pm! When should her last nap end? Because now she sleeps around 8:30pm and it’s quite late because I need extra time at night for me (I sleep around 9pm)

I want to discuss sleep and general “transitioning” for my second baby coming in the fall.
With my 1st, I coslept and breastfed for 2 years. I liked having her near me because I wanted to encourage that instinct and bonding especially after she was literally part of my body for 9 months... However, I struggled with knowing when to “transition” to the next phase and I found each transition was SO agonizing for all of us.
    Examples:
    > when to transition from being with mom (co-sleeping or bassinet for example), to say a CRIB + if baby is right next to mom in whatever capacity and they dry or wake are you grab right away or put arm on them right away doesn’t this make them dependent on you for that instant response (not saying it’s bad) just posing question of - does it make that later transition of them self soothing etc more difficult when you suddenly aren’t responding and what does this all look like. I mean at 3am I wasn’t into letting my 1st scream and scream when she woke so that my hard working husband would then also wake up.
    > when and HOW to cut off night BREASTMILK so that it’s easier and HOW/ what to do to get them to sleep and no longer be dependent on those night feedings? I felt like there was yelling and arguing because my 1st was a toddler when I finally took the milk away at night(2yrs). I couldn’t handle not getting any sleep after 2 years of giving my first my all. 🥹
Things I have been told so far:
    > I have learned/heard that not letting a baby fall asleep ON you if you’re breastfeeding so they don’t associate “I only sleep if I am on mommy” is a good place to start
    > putting them in a crib when they are tired but not yet asleep so they “fall” asleep in their physical space (crib)
    > that using crib for naps right away when they are a newborn will more easily develop the habit as opposed to car sleeping more than a crib or a side sleeper more than a crib..
    > keeping a lot of noise so they can sleep deep in noise as opposed to being a 👻 when they are asleep. My first is such a light sleeper and we never made a peep!
Sorry this is long winded. I don’t even know what my exact questions are. I just need a better flow and plan to be confident in this second time around that May have worked for several others. So please help! I am more open minded than I used to be! Any little nuance you can share I’d love to hear!!

One tip I give my friends and other moms for mothers to help your baby sleep, is to create a calming environment. Wether that means blackout curtains, soft music, or a diffuser, just find a way to make getting ready for bed and getting in bed feel like self-care. Even babies pick up on that stuff lol
My boys loved massages while getting pjs on and they also loved rainforest noise playlists.

More than a training sleep method, the video shows how your baby can keep sleeping on her own, but knowing beforehand how to selve-sooth. You could explain how did you manage to make your baby sleeps a 2 hours nap for example. I don't think it just happened magically...

I have wanted to start sleep training my 10 month course old. We sleep trained early on and it worked, but she hit a regression and learned how to sit up on the crib, then all the training went straight out the window. She is on a schedule, but every nap and bedtime I have to nurse and rock her to sleep. She take 1-1.5h naps and sleeps 4-6 hours straight then wakes up for 2-3 feedings at night. My biggest issue is I put her down and she stands right away. How can I use a gentle sleep training method with her so she learns to stay down in her crib?

I didn’t particularly care about the naturium drama. But I have a baby the same age as Ayla and have been closely following susan on insta. You have posted so many times that your baby has been awake since 5 am and refused to go back to sleep, and that you have struggled with her development stages in general. This video is very dishonest if you claim that that is her normal schedule without mentioning that babies wake up at 4,5,6 sometimes and that that is ok. You are making a new mom feel bad about herself saying how great you and your baby are with your perfect schedule. Unsubscribe

    • @SusanYara

Babygenderreveal I’m not at all saying she doesn’t wake up at times. I actually said this method takes a lot longer because we eased her into it. She definitely still has moments. The schedule during the day has been a game-changer for me though. We only implemented it about a month ago and I’m really glad we did.
