Just wanted to say the very first tip 1000% works!!! New momma of a 5 week old baby girl here - for her first full day of life right after the birth, I woke her up at 7:30a.m., then continued to do so every morning and she now consistently sleeps in until 7:25 - 7:35a.m. every single morning, and she has a very predictable nap schedule. ❤
@@pursuingpurity596 She’s doing wonderful!!! She is currently sleeping in every morning until 7:00 - 7:30a.m., she only wakes up once or twice after a 5 - 6 hour stretch to eat overnight! 🙌
Sounds like our babies were born around the same time! How are things going? We’ve been struggling with sleep for months and am now desperately trying to find a way to improve her sleep
Any advice for breastfed babies who need to contact sleep (naps and night time sleep)? Is there a way for them to sleep independently without momma being right next to them?
My baby is 17 months and she still needs the breast to sleep at nap time and bedtime. It's a sleep association I don't know how to break kindly (I couldn't bear not giving her my breast and have her cry for me so don't know what to do, would break my heart to let her cry). Like I can't just sit up and breastfeed her and then get up and put her down for a nap when she's done, it doesn't work, I have to lie down next to her in bed and she breastfeeds until she's done and then turns around and sleeps.
Wow. So many people going through this. I try to remember it won’t last forever. 😅Hang in there ❤️ try to think of the positives like getting to see their precious faces.
One thing I sort of intuitively did with my son when he was ~6 months+ was as soon as we woke up we'd look at the morning sun 🌞 (not *directly* of course) but to set our circadian rhythm and he has always been such a champion sleeper! ✨ It might be worth a try for other mamas
My observation for good sleep is to have a transition routine not only for night sleep but also for naps. I started putting my baby in the crib with a quiet music toy above her before she has started showing signs for being tired. She would continue to play with it for a while and than fall asleep with no additional help or sucking anything. My baby is exclusively breastfed but I never use that as a way to calm her for a nap.
We did this with our now 15 month old & seeing a video from you is so validating!! I had PPD & PPA and was the only mom in our circles who didn’t sleep train - I had many awful moments of intense self doubt and anxiety so it’s so nice to watch this video and feel the extra peace of mind that I still did right by my baby! (First time mom).
This seems much more realistic and less draining then sleep training. I am a second time mom, my son is 4 weeks and my daughter is 6. With my first I sleep trained her, letting her cry it out... it worked but it was hard to do mentally and emotionally and everytime she got sick it would ruin the whole training we did. And she got sick a lot (mostly after vaccinations) so we would have to sleep train again and again. This time I'm doing it different. I'm not to worried about sleep training, I know my son will get on a schedule eventually and besides they grow SO fast, I'm embracing it all much more this time around.
Currently in the beginning stages of very light sleep training because I couldn't commit to letting her cry for a long time, this video couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you!!!
Amazing advice! I feel validation that waking up my daughter at 7 am is OK and necessary after watching this with her approaching 6 months in 5 days. Everyone would always say LET HER SLEEP, But I knew as she gets older it would effect her wake windows and nap schedule.
I've probably watched all your sleep videos and been taking your advice. For the first time today, my 5 month old fell asleep on his own. You're brilliant. Thank you for all your help.
I cannot thank you enough for all the videos! My husband and I constantly keep checking your videos to ensure we are well informed and doing the best we can for our first baby! Love from Canada. ❤️
Great video, Emma! Do you have any recommendations regarding sleep regressions? My daughter was sleeping well and is now having difficulty even with a routine. Any tips would be wonderful.
Gawsh, i enjoy watching these videos. My young adult kiddos never slept. I nursed till almost 2 years and co slept. Now that i nanny, most of the families sleep trained and what a difference this makes.
Ive been doing a schedule since month 4 and he sleeps great. He is like mama, likes consistency lol and once our routines became really consistent then he felt comfortable in the space and that mom would respond, then i was able to set him down and give him a kiss and then leave the room. But if he cries at all then i stay with him and i think that creates a sense of trust. He is 5 months. And naps 3 hours total. I can be more flexible with the two morning naps 3-45 min naps, 1 -1.5 hr nap then 1 -45min nap in either order. But I noticed that the last nap is key for a good bedtime (in the case that i have to have him in bed by a certain time so i can work) he goes to sleep easy if he is awake 2.5 hours before bed. Any shorter than that he will be nursing for like an hour. Also if he sleeps in for somereason, like til 7am instead if 6:30 then i count it out from one of his naps of the day. I try to continue the other naps as similar as usual. It seems to work. I know the wake windows work for him. It was a weird transition at first but after a week maybe his body was used to it and suddenly he was taking 1 less nap
Dear Emma, your videos are really precious, maybe you could give us a suggestion to solve our problem: our little love falls asleep only if we hold her in arms, if we put her on the bed she cries desperate and it seems she could do that forever! She’s 4 months. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! I haven't used sleep training with my kids but we do all 4 of these things. Of course each kid is unique, some sleeping better than others, and there are phases like teething or travel that mess us schedules. We just don't stress and the kids seem to do the same!
I keep having family pout at the fact that I've trained my baby to sleep in a dark room with a noise machine during the day for every nap. It's been key to extending those naps and avoiding an overtired baby. It obviously means we always have to leave early and stick to a schedule. They say that I should train my baby to sleep in noisy and lit up environment but it never seemed right to me.
It’s Your baby. Do as you please! It could be worth exploring “why” people are making suggestions for your baby as it may have merit but while you should remain open minded, it’s ultimately your decision.
This upload was more than timely as last night was a very rough night for baby and me. Seeing this as today’s upload made me chuckle a little bit because I literally thought “does Emma live near me and heard us get up hourly??” 😂
Perfect timing for our 3 month old thank you so much!! 🙏🏻 question though if I follow baby‘s tired signs and let him sleep too much during the day won‘t it affect his night sleep causing early morning waking? Thanks for your advice ❤
I love your videos and it’s refreshing to see that a lot of it is how we granmas now people had such happy content babies. Your advice is just put into a new term. For me my babies were born in a rime that meant they were on a sleep schedule by the time we came home. It was recommended to feed every 3-4 hourly and from first real feed once my milk came in it just worked for me. And I followed this when we went home . Following it with all my babies wasnt hard, night feeds were quickly dropped and day feeds were predictable..these days young mums struggle to see how this could possible work with breastfed babies and yet…both of my daughters did the same thing and also had very settled and content babies.
If the cycle is reset every morning, from where do we start to count the total hours of sleep per day? From the night when they fall asleep until the next night or from the morning they wake up until the next morning? I am asking that because you had explained in an other video how important it is to count the total hours of sleep per day so we know what to expect at night. Thank you! 😊
My sleep trained baby who just turned one still takes very short naps 30-40mins Wake windows- 3/3.5/4 Wake up at 6:30 Sleeps at 6:30/7 He is nap trained Only trained for bed time
My baby never took naps longer than 30 minutes despite trying nearly everything! Finally when she was down to 1 nap she started taking longer naps. She wouldn’t sleep longer than 10 hour nights. And now she’s 3 and will take 2 hour naps if she’s in need of more sleep. So it could just be baby is getting enough nighttime sleep. Even if it seems low, baby may just be a low sleep need child. As long as they are happy!
Where do you get all these gorgeous video clips? Unless they are AI-generated, I really admire the huge work done by the video operator! So many parents and children, and grasping such different yet equally precise illustrations to the narrator's speech - in one word, is just awesome.
Hi Emma! Thanks for the amazing videos you put up every week! My 6 week old only naps during the day on my chest. I’ve tried many times to put him down in his bed, or bed or the couch but no matter how deep he is asleep as soon as I put him down he wakes up and start crying. Do you have any advice how to make him nap during the day in his crib or any other place but my chest? Trust me I love those moments but I cannot do any housework or even go to the bathroom! Thank you!
Do you use binkies? That helps my baby so much. I lay down with her until she’s mostly asleep then I leave the room. She sleeps in bed with me though not a crib
@@ChloeLukich I do, but he drops it all the time! I hold it until he falls asleep but after a couple minutes he wakes up. I’ve tried so many times for him to fall asleep on my chest and to put him slowly in his crib or couch and again he wakes up right away. I guess I have a difficult baby! 😣
My daughter is 5 months old and barely sleeps at all. I’ve tried so much to train her into a routine and I fail dismally. She's hyperactive but fussy. She can't sleep without being breastfed, even while napping. Her naps are usually 30 minutes in a space of 3 hours. At night, I bathe her at 19:00 to prepare her for bedtime but she'll only wake up in an hour then she'll sleep around 23:00 and wakes up at 5 am for her "snack" then sleeps again. I'm constantly exhausted because of this inconsistency. Any tipps would be appreciated.
Emma I really needed this video we were up all last night and many nights before. My toddler is up at 5 am every morning-any tips how to help her sleep a bit later? Thank you for this video and giving me some encouragement 🙏🙏💖💖💖
My bg would wake up earlier if she slept at around 9pm. Having started teething she now sleeps later, around 11pm. That makes her wake up later actually. From 10am to even 11.30am
Hi @Dana it can be so hard and tiring waking up frequently during the night and then starting the day at 5am. I have a video on early morning wakes which breaks down the steps to helping your little one move their wake up time to later. Here is the link in case you want to watch it: th-cam.com/video/jYDWlCc2308/w-d-xo.html Also if your little one is 2 years or older a training clock can be extremely helpful. These clocks visually show when it is time to get up. So for example, at night the clock face might be a picture of a star and then at 7am (or whatever time you set the clock to) it changes to a sun. This visual representation can really help toddlers understand when they need to go back to sleep and when it is ok for them to get up. I hope that helps!
Like us kids only need a certain amount of sleep. My daughter is nearly 2 and only has 10.5-11.5 hours of sleep in 24. She wakes at 8am and has an hour and a half nap and falls asleep at 11-11.30pm. Maybe your little one needs a later bedtime.
@@Dana-mb1hd yeah I wake my daughter after an hour and a half but she would sleep longer if I let her. Doesn't hurt to try shortening the nap a little.
What age do you recommend to start things like waking at a set time etc? First time mum to two week old and struggling with sleep at night times but didn’t think babies this age were meant to have routines etc, and things like waking them up from naps isn’t appropriate yet?
Hi Emma. Thank you for this video. We have constant nap and bedtime schedule and routibe, my 14 month old falls asleep very fast, but is having very disrupted sleep. He wakes up all the time, really often crying. Also he is really seeking me, he needs to feel me physically, touch my hand or skin. I am exhausted...don't know what to do.
Ehm i had the exact same problem!!! And im still being depended on but i can happily say that it will be much better after 20 months! Hope you survive little yet. I have no disturbing time for 7 hours . When its coming 3 oclock my sweet baby still need me lol
@@klorinmo thank you for sharing. Didn't have that kind of issue with my first baby. So now I am thinking that I should somehow train my baby to fall asleep in his crib, rather than my arms. Maybe that will help...
Same with my 8.5 month old… He needs me a lot during the night… He don’t want to sleep alone even during the day naps… I don’t know what to do…. I always wonder how some people are lucky to have babies that can sleep own their own…. I find everyone is lying when I see through the baby’s eyes…😅😂
@@harmeetkaur921 i keep reminding myself to enjoy this tough period as well, tell myself that my baby is this little only today and soon enough I will be crying about wanting him to need me this much. Yeah...but it doesn't help when you've been sleep deprived for months :D Hold on...we'll get through this!
Been there, done that. Actually we do everything that is said in the video, yet our 6 months old baby won't nap for over 30 minutes and wakes every 2 hours at night. Probably because he had severe reflux as a newborn and got used to sleeping on top of us as well as eating small amounts very often. Amyway, I'm in hell. Not being able to sleep is torture
@@СветланаБайгерова thank you for asking. It has changed a bit. Now he is learning to fall asleep without being held and sometimes naps for 1 hour but the night is still the same. It isn't easy
I'm so sorry 😞. New dad here just reading through the comments also navigating trying to get my new born to sleep through the night. I truly hope it gets better for you soon 🙏
@@jthetunes1 it does get slowly better. Now my son is 17 months old and he naps once a day for 2 and a half hours and at night wakes to feed every 3 hours. I know it doesn't look like much but it's a great improvement. Around 9 months he began to nap for 50 minutes 3 times a day and it progressed to the current situation. Hang in there!
Good day! We're expecting our baby in May and I have been going through all your videos. I had a question about naps... I see how you're saying make a suitable environment for the baby to nap in but i was curious for a newborn can they nap in their own space? I saw that 6-12 months of age should sleep in the same room as the parents to avoid SIDS. Does that apply to naps too.?
Hello! Just wanted to say I LOVE your videos and keep sharing them in my New Mom's group chat. I can imagine your baby is born by now so congratulations! I don't know how you find the time to keep posting videos with a newborn and two older kids so BIG THANKS!
Thanks Emma for sharing the tips! My 18MO used to be the best sleeper up until a few months ago when she suddenly decided that she didn't want to be alone at night. I had to sleep next to her ever since but I felt like we kept waking up each other at night.. I didn't want to try crying out again because now she knows everything and I don't want her to feel super insecure. I also heard from all my other friends with toddlers eventually ended up with bed sharing because they just climb up to your bed at night 🤣. Posting here to see if it's the same story for other parents and any tip to improve sleep quality 🥲
Thank you for this video, could you make a video about different approaches for baby sleep? I dont understand the difference between sleep training and this approach. Thank you! Your videos Are very helpful!
My son is 8 months old, and he gets extremely tired but will continue to keep playing if he's being engaged with. Also, he tends to only have 30-minute naps or just won't nap at all even after showing tired signs. Also, whenever he wakes in the morning, he's happy, but whenever he wakes from his naps, he's quite upset. HELP!
I don't know how to improve my baby's sleep... She will wake up every night many times. If it is good night, she might wake up only 5 times, if it is bad night it maybe 20 times. I have had constant 3 hour sleep last time maybe begin of December. Constant 5 hours, I think never. And my baby is now 5 month old. I am sooo tired. I have watched your every video about sleeping. I tried so hard... She sleeps during the day 30 min in the morning (bed), 3-3,5 hours during mid-day (outside) and 30 min (bed) in the afternoon. She will go to sleep 7.30 pm and unfortunately wake up before 5 am. So the bedroom is dark, it is colder than rest of the house (below 20 degree), she has white noice, bed time routines have been the same/almost the same for last month and she will go to her bed as sleep but awake. Her night time routines includes bath, diaper change, clothes change, eating, being up for 20 min (because of reflux), baby massage, going to bedroom, pacifier to mouth, holding her until she feel sleep, putting to bed, holding hands top of her until she is almost a sleep (she will continue "talking" after I remove my hands) and leaving the room (she is sleeping in the same room as us). But still she will wake up many, many times. And usually she will wake up 30 to 40 min after falling a sleep. Sometimes crying and sometimes screeming. Usually I wait for a moment before going to bedrooom and but the pacifier back (it usually helps but not always). I really don't know what to do more. I would really, really need that even 3 hours of constant sleep during the night.
What do you recommend about nightlights or the moving ones that light up the ceiling, do these help or prevent sleep please. I have a 7month old and his sleep is awful
Hi Emma, in another video I think you said babies naturally have a later bedtime, can you please explain why that might be? Thank you ! I find your videos so helpful and am currently following the thrive program as well as the exercises program :) Cheers !
It was a nightmare when my son went to daycare and could not fall asleep since the environment was not "optimal" like home (dark, cool, noisemaker). I am doing differently with my now 5 months old because I cannot set her for "failure" of not being able to sleep at school once the time comes. The teachers have very little patience with the kids who do not nap and expect them to stay in their cot for the whole 2 hours nap window. Tell that to a 2 year old.
Wake them up at 7am, I wished for that. My two both woke at 05:30 very day like clockwork. No matter what I did that was the time they woke and one is still, to this day, an early riser.
My six-month-old son wakes up at about 5:30 - 6 AM too… I tried to put him to sleep by 9:30 or 10 pm but still he still wakes up very early… what to do? Any advice? He still has five naps about 3-4 hours of napping every day.
I cosleep with my little one until they were about 6 months. And started to give them time in there baby bed. And when they’d be ready for a nap. I’d hold them till they were asleep or tired and put them to bed. And go to them when they wake up. Typically I’d count the yawns and eye rubs. It’s definitely hard. But even when they’d sleep in there bed. And woke up I’d soothe them over the bed. So I’d sit or stand near by and pat them back to sleep. I did mine I guess hard way. Which I wish I started earlier rather than later but yeesh. I’m just happy he sleeps through the night now. And takes naps. At least 2 a day. Which have finally reached an hour 30. It’s changed a bit lately since he is now almost 11 months old. Tends to stay awake longer.
Would you wake up at the same time regardless of what time they go to sleep? My little is normally asleep by 10pm, up at 8am. But during this four month sleep regression, she sometimes doesn’t get to sleep until 1:30am! Would I still wake her up at 8am??
@@Emily-bp7ol I do, but sometimes he is distracted when out and about or gets woken by noises beyond my control. It would be handy to see what she recommends for 'on the go' naps.l, especially as she says to follow the same pre sleep routine
Thankyou Emma for this video. My 6 month old is breastfed and we have recently started her on purees a couple of weeks ago. She normally does well with her day naps..sleeping usually between 1-3 hours each time. Her night routine has gone out of whack the last week though! :( no matter what I do, she still gets up like a newborn every 2 hours...she went from sleeping up to 6 hours through the night to honestly just not sleeping. She has been teething...but ironically seems to sleep slightly better when her teeth hurt. I don't understand how to get her sleeping through the night again. Please help! XD
My daughter is 4 months old and hasn’t slept good at all for over a month, almost two. She wakes every hour to 2 hours and sometimes it’s only 30 minutes. She’s always slept alone and does not like to take naps. She cries all of the time at night and nap time. Her doctor suggested to start to sleep train her already but that is not working either. Any advice?
What happens if I have to go to work and take my baby with me and then in the afteroon her older sister has activities. How I ensure a dark and calm environment for sleeping?
My daughter in law does sleep training. Im with my grandson all day and after 6 months of trying to following ever step, its a nightmare. My grandson wakes up once during the night or early morning. Once! And its always my fault and something i did wrong during the day. I love your video's im not a regular watcher, being im an Oma, not Mom. Anyone doing sleep training appreciate the grandma or whomever is doing their best while you're not there. I absolutely love having my grandson instead of him going to daycare, for me and him and the cost. Im not even that old, so im going to say, sleep training sucks!
Hi Emma, my 8 month old has discovered how to stand now and constantly wants to stand instead of lay down in the cot which obviously makes bedtime difficult. Any tips?
My baby is 11 months old, he usually sleeps well at nine o'clock and wakes up once in the middle of the night to feed, but lately he's been sleeping very late, like midnigbt and so on..any advice
I know my baby’s early tired time but is so hard to put him down for nap! I carry him, rock him, you name it so from early tired till he is really tired he will cry and finally sleeps but woke in 30mins….send help!
Is there anyone who can help me? I can’t make my daughter to take naps during the day 😞 I learn to walk with her to make her sleep and when I put her in her crib she wakes up 😢 or she “sleep” for 5, 10 or 30 minutes max. At night she can sleep better. For example from 10 pm to 5 am most of the days. I’ve heard from a pediatrician that we need to put her in her crib and just talk to her until she falls asleep and if she starts to cry, we just have to talk 🤷🏻♀️ or if she’s crying for 10 minutes we can calm her down and star over again. But my heart breaks seeing her crying for seconds💔 What can I do? I’m desperate here 😭
Hi,Emma! My 10month old won’t take a nap in the stroller/car seat when we are out and about but sleeps soundly when we are at home. Any suggestion? 😊 Please. Thank you!
Hi Jen! For some kids they can be more sensitive to noise, movement, visual input or touch (this is normal as we all have sensory preferences). If they are showing you that they are tired, you can try and make it easier for them to fall asleep by reducing or masking these sensations. So for example lowering the pram shade might help to block some of the visual distractions and help them fall asleep. If you think this might help your little one, make sure you don't cover the pram completely and there is some air flow as covered prams can become very hot. With my daughter it was the noise of the busy environment which stopped her falling asleep in the pram, so I would take our portable white noise machine and put it on when it was time for a nap (making sure the volume was not too loud and the noise machine was in the bottom tray or the handle of the pram and not right beside her). I hope this helps.
My 7 1/2 month old is mastering crawling and pulling self to standing. He is really having a hard time napping and sleeping now. For past two or 3 weeks he seems to go back to almost newborn sleep schedule or worse, waking up at leadt every two hours but sometimes every 30min to hour and won't fall back asleep unless I nurse him...I am exhausted. How to i break this cycle or sleep regression and get back to point where he only wales once or even twice a night?
Doesn’t the first tip contradict the other other one? How can I wake the baby at the same time every day if I follow her cues for when she’s tired to go to bed?
I have a slightly different issue. my baby likes to be held to fall asleep, but does not necessarily want to be held to stay asleep. however she Does not like to be lowered into a playpen or bed And wakes up instantly. I don't know what to do
I think I’m the problem instead of my baby ): I struggle to wake up lol as an exclusively pumping mom who has to pump overnight as well, it’s tough to do 😥
Yeah it is. & so little comes out. Hearing overcompensating males act like boob masters bc they know so well about all females... is just like u really don't help somexs, plz shut up. I pump whenever I can. But only a couple of weeks the amount in, it still hasn't progressed. I was told bc I dont pump enough. So, it confuses my brain & body. But I also heard any is better than none at all. It's a little odd but fascinating too. Stuff specially formulated for her helps her build immunity & then some. I told my hubby my firsts dad got ahold of my milk & put it in his coffee. He said ugh. I said uve done worse. Somexs no... lol, somexs yeah
😅whenever we put our baby down during her “early sleep signals” she screams bloody murder. She hasn’t gotten the memo that it’s easier to sleep when exhibiting those
See, ours was doing that too. You know how we fixed it? We slapped a return label on it and sent it back to the manufacturers. They sent us a new one within 8-9 months..... Don't worry y'all, it was a joke.
Okay so when they are ready for their nap do you just lay them in the crib and walk away? Cause mine I have to rock FOREVER and when I set him down in the crib he just wakes right back up, and I follow all the wake windows
But following all these guidelines I understand will help with sleeping at home in their cot. But what's going to happen if they need to sleep while we out and about? And they only used to dark and quiet room to sleep in?
@EmmaHubbard Thanks I understand. I just sometimes find with my little one that she struggles to fall asleep when not at home or in her cot. Then she will get so overtired and sometimes even skip a nap entirely. What can I do to assist my bubs in sleeping when we out and about?
I’ve got a six week old and hates naps and bedtime . At least that’s what it looks like . I try to put her down for naps but she fights to stay away and same for bedtime . I try everything but nothing works . She even sleeps for 5 mins and then wakes up with a jolt even if it’s deadly quiet . Not sure what to do. She’s also breastfed and clearly a light sleeper . I only manage to get her to sleep and stay asleep in my bed but in her Next to Me Cot she never sleeps for long enough. Please help !
Why my 7 month old baby don't want to sleep after being awake for 7 hours in the day ? Normally she sleeps after 3 h being awake, but sometimes the schedule gets crazy...
This is fine if your baby doesn’t have to go to day care. I can’t control them putting mine to sleep. At home mine is on a good schedule at daycare she’s on their schedule and sometimes doesn’t sleep at all
I wish my baby would truly nap. She (6m) shows tired signs, I try to put her down for a nap (doing all the things) and she just doesn’t fall asleep. She quickly back to fully energized and wants to play again. I wish she would just sleep!! We are so burnt out.
I’m sorry about your baby, I have the same problem I fault myself a lot sometimes but I just realised she’s a very energetic girl and wants to explore a lot. If only they could go to sleep! I try not to let it stress me so much but it is hard! Shoosh!

I started putting my baby in the crib with a quiet music toy above her before she has started showing signs for being tired. She would continue to play with it for a while and than fall asleep with no additional help or sucking anything. My baby is exclusively breastfed but I never use that as a way to calm her for a nap.
Thanks for sharing! A bedtime routine is one of the most effective strategies!
Wooaah. I've been doing all of these since my baby turned 6 months and I must say, it's very effective and helpful to us new parents.
Awesome!
Glad it was helpful!
You are so welcome!
@@EmmaHubbard 🥰🥰
Great video, Emma! Do you have any recommendations regarding sleep regressions? My daughter was sleeping well and is now having difficulty even with a routine. Any tips would be wonderful.
Gawsh, i enjoy watching these videos. My young adult kiddos never slept. I nursed till almost 2 years and co slept. Now that i nanny, most of the families sleep trained and what a difference this makes.
My son just doesn't want to sleep because there's too much to see and explore, lol. I remind myself that this too shall pass 😆
Thanks for sharing!!
Do what works for you. They're your baby. You know best for your baby
It’s Your baby. Do as you please!
It could be worth exploring “why” people are making suggestions for your baby as it may have merit but while you should remain open minded, it’s ultimately your decision.
Thank you so much, I really need this because lately it's hard for my baby to fall asleep
Thank you. As a first time Nana, Things sure have change in 30 years when it comes to baby's. Thank you
You are so welcome
This upload was more than timely as last night was a very rough night for baby and me. Seeing this as today’s upload made me chuckle a little bit because I literally thought “does Emma live near me and heard us get up hourly??” 😂
😂 Sounds like this might have come at the right time for you. Hoping you both get some sleep soon!
Perfect timing for our 3 month old thank you so much!! 🙏🏻 question though if I follow baby‘s tired signs and let him sleep too much during the day won‘t it affect his night sleep causing early morning waking? Thanks for your advice ❤
This worked like a charm ...thank you so much 😊❤ been watching your videos since I was pregnant and now my boy is 10 months
Thank you! 😊
Let’s say you want to wake up your baby 7am every day but he sometimes wakes at 5, sometimes 6am by himself lol, what do i do?
My sleep trained baby who just turned one still takes very short naps
30-40mins
Wake windows- 3/3.5/4
Wake up at 6:30
Sleeps at 6:30/7
He is nap trained
Only trained for bed time
My baby never took naps longer than 30 minutes despite trying nearly everything!

Getting my baby up at the same time every morning was probably the biggest game-changer
So glad it worked for your bub!
Did it also improve on the night wakening rate?
How do you wake your baby? My baby only wakes up when I don’t want her to 😂 otherwise she’s SUCH a deep sleeper when I’m trying
Hello! In what month (week) do you recommend us to start waking our baby up at the same time frame?
How do you do this with a new born? Or do we wait till they are near 6 months.
Thank you!
Gently lay the baby legs down first and then the head as last, then pat the butt gently. Saw it in a video. Works perfectly!
@@sonsy7 I’ve so many times, but it doesn’t work with mine! 😔
Hi thx for your videos they are soooo helpful. What about sleeping position my little one always sleeps on his tummy. He s 14month.
I feel you!!
Did you get things figured out?
Here is the link in case you want to watch it: th-cam.com/video/jYDWlCc2308/w-d-xo.html
Also if your little one is 2 years or older a training clock can be extremely helpful.
@@savagecabbage7781 I think I’m letting her nap way too long during the day now that you mentioned it! Thank you for your insight I appreciate it!💖🙏
@@Dana-mb1hd yeah I wake my daughter after an hour and a half but she would sleep longer if I let her.
Thanks for explaining Sleep Hygiene ❤ I think people mix up sleep training with Cry it Out (not this video of course and I personally do not like CIO)
❤️
I thought the things in the video were part of sleep training
I have exactly the same issue with my nearly 14 month old as well 😴
Same with my 8.5 month old… He needs me a lot during the night… He don’t want to sleep alone even during the day naps… I don’t know what to do….
Yeah...but it doesn't help when you've been sleep deprived for months :D
Hold on...we'll get through this!
I feel for you. Has the situation improved during the last month?
@@СветланаБайгерова thank you for asking. It has changed a bit. Now he is learning to fall asleep without being held and sometimes naps for 1 hour but the night is still the same. It isn't easy
Same here 😢
I'm so sorry 😞.
No worries at all. I will try to do a video on this topic soon.
Hello, do you please have any tips for a one year old? (my baby is 10,5 months.)
Thank you ! I find your videos so helpful and am currently following the thrive program as well as the exercises program :) Cheers !
my 15 month old sleeps through the night, except he’s dependent on a bottle to fall asleep during nap time and bedtime. any advice!
Exactly the same story 😁 I generally love Emma's advice, but my husband and I giggled at this point 😁
My six-month-old son wakes up at about 5:30 - 6 AM too… I tried to put him to sleep by 9:30 or 10 pm but still he still wakes up very early… what to do? Any advice? He still has five naps about 3-4 hours of napping every day.
I have a 2 week old. Should I start implementing these tips now?
Is there a guide for babies under 6 months? Currently have a 5 week old and having trouble getting him to initially sleep at bed time...
Thanks so much for sharing. Your tip to help soothe your little one by patting can work so well!
I need them to wake up at 9AM after I’m done having breakfast 😂😅
For me it is after 7.30am after I have had time to get the older siblings breakfast and hopefully a coffee for me!😂
any tips for newborns?
Would you wake up at the same time regardless of what time they go to sleep? My little is normally asleep by 10pm, up at 8am. But during this four month sleep regression, she sometimes doesn’t get to sleep until 1:30am! Would I still wake her up at 8am??

From which month you can start the training?
Any suggestions for a baby sleeping out and about - as we cannot stay home all day to have the same nap location every day x
Let them sleep when they need to? My baby takes his first nap on the go. Then sometimes we are home for his second nap and then he can nap at home.

My daughter is 4 months old and hasn’t slept good at all for over a month, almost two. She wakes every hour to 2 hours and sometimes it’s only 30 minutes. But my heart breaks seeing her crying for seconds💔
What can I do?
I hope this helps.
does this apply only to 6 + months?? my baby is 2 month old. is ot better to waker her up at the same time every day?
Does this work with newborns?
My 7 1/2 month old is mastering crawling and pulling self to standing. He is really having a hard time napping and sleeping now. For past two or 3 weeks he seems to go back to almost newborn sleep schedule or worse, waking up at leadt every two hours but sometimes every 30min to hour and won't fall back asleep unless I nurse him...I am exhausted. How to i break this cycle or sleep regression and get back to point where he only wales once or even twice a night?
How do you sleep train a toddler/more than 12 months old?

Fantastic!
Even the hacks who recommend sleep training recommend you wait until 5 months. How terrible.
1. Wake your baby at the same time.

Cause mine I have to rock FOREVER and when I set him down in the crib he just wakes right back up, and I follow all the wake windows
best baby sleep video ❤
Thank you!
My son is 7 months but still wakes every 2 hours. Is that normal. He is now formula fed
What does 30 minute window means
But following all these guidelines I understand will help with sleeping at home in their cot. But what's going to happen if they need to sleep while we out and about? And they only used to dark and quiet room to sleep in?
Like all bub's, when out and about they will fall asleep when their sleep pressure is high and they are tired.
@EmmaHubbard Thanks I understand. I just sometimes find with my little one that she struggles to fall asleep when not at home or in her cot. Then she will get so overtired and sometimes even skip a nap entirely. What can I do to assist my bubs in sleeping when we out and about?
I needed to watch it twice, I got too distracted by all the cute babies 😁
Erm ok so what do you do when your child wakes up on their own at 5 am or just won’t go to sleep till 9pm?
Shoosh!
