I own a 2014 Kia Soul with what seems to be a steering coupler noise. I have purchased the coupler wheel recommended by youtubers. However, on stripping the steering, it seems to be of a different design to what the youtube guys are showing, and I cannot remove the motor body to put a coupler in. Is it possible for me to send you a photo of the assy for your comment? Many thanks!!!

Guys in the club running different filter setups. Mostly custom because it's cheaper here. Personally, custom s steel ram pipe, hks intake filter, k&n breather filter
Great Vid! what sort of play were you experiencing before? Got a quote from the dealer to replace the coupler and steering rack for my cerato hatch.Dont wanna replace the rack if just replacing the coupler will solve the issue: slight play in steering and steering feeling slightly light at high speeds.
I had play at hight speeds but others experienced a knocking noise when turning. It's a bit labor intensive but if you're willing to accept the challenge it will save you a bunch of money. Easier when you have 2 hands but can be done by yourself
Hey man, i just changed the coupling, the inside was kind of like a gooey substance which was a pain to take out, also now that i have installed the new one, it sounds like a bit of friction, is this normal until the new coupling 'wears in' etc. also once i had everything reconnected, the buttons on my steering wheel do not work, do you know possibly where the problem might be? have looked two times now and cant find any problems. thanks for the video
Hey pal. According to me, what you're describing does not sound normal. I experienced the feeling of the coupler settling in for about half a day, but no sounds. Buttons worked immediately. Sound it may be that the coupler isn't seated properly and or a wire/ connector around the top of the steering has been severed or disconnected by accident. Unfortunately my recommendation is to retrace your steps and do it over. Remember to realign the steering wheel before tightening the Bolts. Else it will remain skew. The other problem you may have is that your clock spring is damaged. That requires getting a new one. Disconnect battery and remove airbag. Requires a specific tool to loosen the steering wheel on the side
Good video. Have a 2014 Koup which is also RHD like your one. But how did you reach the back 14mm bolt? It seems impossible to get anything back there as there is no space??
You need to get upside down and use an extension
@@Koup_TV_ I tried this for 2 hours brother. And there just isn't enough space to use a extension? Is the 2014 much different in this area? The process seems similar for all hyundai & kia
@@ericj4774 did you remove the air vent which blows air to your feet? That does block your path a bit. Also make sure you move the steering column up/down/ in/out as needed. If you're doing it on the 2nd Gen Koup... I'm not entirely sure if it's going to be a copy and paste procedure.

Howzit man. After replacing the coupling, did you experience any steering alignment issues? I had a guy do mine and the steering wheel
Is way off centre. I thought it was wheel alignment. How do I fix this?
You'll need to loosen it again and move the steering wheel to centre before you tighten it again. I fixed it off camera. Don't remove the steering wheel and airbag. This is not the correct way to fix such an issue

Follow step by step and you'll be fine. If you're not confident, rather pay someone
Sounds expensive.
The part costs R37. Labour at Kia cost around 5k. I honestly don't blame them for charging that much.
