Thanks a lot for this. Just gave birth last month, baby just turned 5 weeks. I need positive reassurances that its absolutely ok to mix bottlefeeding and breastfeeding. My baby is feeding very frequently and it just seems that he is not feeling full, and still fussy after BF so i decided to top up with formula and he seems content after that. Listening to your video helps a lot, helps me feel like im not a failure as a mum for not being able to exclusively breastfeed. Now im not gonna stress out anymore. Thanks 😊

Wow you are telling my story!! I have a 1 month old boy and this is our situation. I gave him formula today and he actually slept and seemed full. I’m also happier to feed him in the evening because I got a break from BF during he day.

Absolutely loved the video. More mums should talk about the perks of combination feeding. I was pushed with my first to exclusively breastfeed and that's why our journey ended so quickly. This time I'll be doing combi feeding and I'm glad to hear that it can go well.

My mother had trouble producing milk & I wouldn't latch on, so she formula fed me the whole time. (I grew up healthy & happy). I am now pregnant with my first & I am thinking of combi-feeding :)

    So relatable!!
My baby is 4 weeks and i am also giving him combination feeding. Its a blessing!!
I dont feel tied up and can easily go out by leaving him behind with any of the family members.
I feel i still have my space and dont feel pressurised about his dependency on me exclusively!!
    I hear you!!💖

Thank you for this video! Its really nice to hear from someone where this was their first choice and not someone who wanted to only breastfeed and couldn't. That can be helpful for people but it makes combo feeding feel like a back up instead of a real option! I'm due in a few weeks and I'm hoping to combo feed!

Breastfed my first 2 boys exclusively. Loved it had its pros and cons. On my 3rd baby she is currently 3 weeks today and had to go on formula because I had to go in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Had to leave her for 3 days. I was distraught because I didn't know what to do because all she knew was mommy's milk. I was relieved that my sister got her on the bottle and she ate. My first 2 was not successful on bottle and kept me from alot of handling business.

Love this video my baby is a week old and I want to introduce my baby at least one bottle a day. It’s mentally exhausting just breastfeeding feeding and like you said if you are not around or something happens. My son does not seem to be confused but I just felt pressured to exclusively breast feed. My baby does not seem to have nipple confusion either

Love your videos, so down to earth.
My 'baby' is 11 now and I breastfed her for 5 and half months - I wish there was more information back then about combi feeding as I would have nursed for longer. I chatted to my health visitor about feeling tied to baby, like you described, and was told to wean her onto bottles of formula! No tips or guidance on easing that feeling.

Well done for breastfeeding for 5 & a half months! That's a shame you weren't given more advice. I think it happens alot unfortunately. This was really helpful as I only want to breastfeed for 6 months and think a bottle on an evening will help. Thank you Amy, fab video, I could listen to you talk all day, such a beautiful soothing accent! Xxx

Yes, there isn’t a lot of info on this. I exclusively breastfed for a year with my first and got pregnant with 2nd a lot sooner than expected and I just can’t go through it again so I want to do both so she can still get the nutrients of breast milk. Good point about them being able to get the vitamin D, ect… from formula without the drops.
I’m scared to wait on giving a bottle and such because I feel by not giving my daughter a bottle or pacifier quickly made her not care for it which was frustrating. It wasn’t because she didn’t know how.

Hi Amy, thank you so much for this! I've been struggling to find any information that clearly explains how to introduce one to two bottles of formula/expressed milk per day. It stressed me out quite a bit because I had so many questions and uncertainties and I was worried that it would be really tricky. I am 36 weeks pregnant, my past two pregnancies I breast fed 100% of the Time and it was overwhelming. I would try to give them the bottle and my babies would reject it. This time around I would love to do a combination feeding so I could include my husband on the feedings I am going to try this technique

Do you suggest to formula feed in the day or alternate maybe and/or breastfeed at night only ? I need more time to pump every time i wanna pump he wants to eat so I don’t end up pumping and I’m trying to pump as much as I can to store more. Is it okay to stop the formula once I get more milk saved ?

Such a lovely informative video. When I had my first I was very rigid about breastfeeding. Like didn't even own a pacifier or bottle or formula. It was horrible. I was riddler with anxiety the first month. My son was also 2.5 kg so I felt immense pressure to feed him. I went on to breastfeed him for 2 years. However now I am expecting again and I am definitely keeping some bottles and formula around. I am more relaxed about my approach and I agree with you it helps the process to breastfeed. It's such a person experience for everyone you really learn so much. ! Did you mix your breast milk with formula first when you introduce formula or was it a direct bottle of formula.

    • @AmyBeingMum

Thanks for sharing your experience. It really is so different from person to person & there's no right or wrong approach as long as baby is fed & mum is looking after herself too.
