Scadutree Avatar feels like Living Failures in that it didn't get much love upon release but more have come around to it. Such a good track but in a very different way from most of the rest of Bloodborne.
@@happymaster19felt the same way I beat the boss so fast I didn’t get to hear the song fully after I beat the game I listened to it and the build up to the second phase is so good
There is one aspect which elevates some Bloodbornes OSTs to a whole other level: lyrics. Looking up the lyrics to The First Hunter always makes me emotional.
Im just realizing that pre-ER music sounds so much better outside of the games because the phase transitions are not tied to a pause between them. They aren’t separated but instead one big piece with a transition precisely arranged inside of the music itself. Of course in game thats not ideal but listening to the music alone its way more enjoyable.
Ludwig's and Laurence's themes actually have meaningful lyrics in Latin, unlike most other Fromsoftware themes that just have random chanting. The channel Antonius Tertius has lyrics videos for them with translations.
This one is my favorite Bloodborne soundtrack! It's telling a tragic story, if you know the content and the lyrics make this 10 times better😂 I always got emotional during the Cello solo. I like to picture this part as the last moment before Laurence turn into a beast. You could almost hear the pain and regret of Laurence for what he'd done.
@@grimmarielle7205there is a person called Ninjabox who uploaded the entire OST in its original format and in way higher quality than the other ones out there. He should definitely listen to that one. Those original versions also don’t fade out at the end.
I'm glad i'm not the only one. It's the combination of sadness and majesty, that paints the story of a man who wanted to save the world but ended condemning it, and himself. This song is how it felt. It's the feeling of your grandiose dreams crumbling down.
I'd argue it to be one of the most beautiful musical pieces I've ever heard. Especially the climax of the song, knowing the lyrical and lore context. It's Laurence himself, literally howling to the rafters begging for forgiveness, to a god who has clearly stopped listening. And then the song ends with a reprisal of the Cleric Beast theme- for all of Laurence's efforts, his hubris in thinking that he would do better than Loran and the sins he committed to keep the Church in power, he's nothing more than just another cleric beast, and he never _will_ be anything more than that.
This track always gets me . I can’t even explain . And once you know the hole story is just even more significant . I always get the goose bumps . This is peak from software music . Just perfect. Great video man . I will see all the other ones .
I mean, if you start going down the DS3 rabbit hole where do you even begin or end, starting from the Main Menu, Vordt, Abyss Watchers, Yhorm, Pontiff, Aldritch, Dragonslayer Armor, Twin Princes, OCEIROS???, Champ Gundyr, shit even Old Demon King for being such a lame boss has a pretty cool theme, Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, and then don't even get me started on the DLCs with Friede, Demon Prince, Midir, Gael. There's probably a bunch more I forgot but just off the dome that's an insane list of tracks that, for all of them, I would unequivocally say is one of the best themes in any game EDIT: I FORGOT DANCER! See I knew there were gonna be some I missed and that's a big one
Si discite tibi vis sacramentum, erit praemium sanguine sanctum. Erit praemium sanguine sanctum absconditum; pervenio humanitas splendor perdere. Sanguine sanctum. Omnes cavete: Sanguine est nectareus de blasphemia; respice intra mysterium, te respice intra et bestia; omnes cavete sanguine, est nectareus de blasphemia, quamvis credo possumus; quam-quamvis credo po-possumus.
The part at 13:07 sounds a lot like the ‘and so he spoke’ part of rains of castomere which is quite interesting. Maybe it’s just a cool melody but still.
If anyone remembers the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End, the music playing when Beckett has that moment of realization before his demise that he massively miscalculated. This has a similar feel of a determined force realizing how it has horribly miscalculated. There's intense tragedy and regret. One of my absolute favorite pieces by FromSoft. 😢 Bloodborne features a host of well meaning but misguided characters, none more consequential those of Laurence. Great analysis highlighting the powerful male vocals and religious tonality of the piece. Thanks, Rob.
New to your channel, love what I’m seeing, would love to see the rest of soulsborne as well. Gwyn LoC and Artorias from Dark Souls 1, Sir Alonne and Burnt Ivory King from Dark Souls 2, basically almost every track from Dark Souls 3 bangs, specially the dlc tracks, (but avoid Soul of Cinder and Nameless King till after Gwyn), as for other series, I would very highly recommend some monster hunter tracks, perfectly encompasses masterful composing to really fit the vibe and feel of whatever monster !
Unlike Elden Ring, where the vocals are all some vaguely Latin-ish made up language just to set the mood, Bloodborne's vocals are actual Latin and often tell the story of the bosses (although the musical language From's composers speak in is often enough as-is to piece together their stories)
@@lynackhilou4865 He's just another Cleric Beast on fire with a boring second phase. You can't even hear the music through his loud screaming and sound effects.

They missed a HUGE opportunity not releasing official lyrics.

Not ashamed to admit that no other from soft song has made me cry more. "The part" just hits that hard every time.

Look up the lyrics video by Antonius Tertius. Those are the legit lyrics revealed by the composers and they actually tell laurence's story pretty well
@kixakii436 I personally know what the story is, I just meant that even listening to it with no reference it's a powerful piece.
To this day, even after elden ring DLC, i still think this is THE BEST theme FromSoft has created.
I feel like the impact of this track is lessened by not hearing “Cleric Beast” first. It’s a companion piece.
LIVING FAILURES P L E A S E
Its time for some ds3 music, my recommendation is Slave Knight Gael - 3 incredible phases with the second one being my favourite
I agree but he should listen to the ds3 menu theme first
They use latin in this OST
Sad that the original video for gael and pretty much all the ds3 songs have been taken out by copyright, only a shitty audio version remains
