One major reason why McDonald's is so successful specifically in today's age is because they have mastered the Drive-Thru. When wagecucks drive home from work (please note the importance of *driving* culture), they are often battered from a long day of hard day of work and also a long drive home. Cooking is the last thing they want to do: And thus the Golden Arches bring comfort and convenience to solving that one great task. Moreover, the actual drive-thru system itself was engineered and mastered by McDonalds; to which every other fast food restaurant has copied thereafter. While I cannot comment on Vietnam, I think it's not a stretch to say it's difficult implant American-style "Fast Food" since it isn't synonymous with South-East Asian consumption habits.
@@TravisTravelsVN100% agreed fast food in Vietnam is different and better than in the States. Chicken is juicier and moist. I had Jollibee and KFC they were also much better. Fast food in the states, the food is old and oily.
Traveling overseas with my wife and kids for the past decades, I would make a point of it to visit a McDonald’s restaurant due to being influenced by The Economist Big Mac index. PPP via a burger. Alas, I am now a vegetarian and not too interested in fast food. Bon appetite and still, another good video, dude. Cheers.
@@brownpunk1794 I think it's because it's cheaper. He mentioned he pays $1-3 to eat locally at any corner restaurant. In the US, if you stop in at any restaurant, it will easily be 3 times as much as fast food. You can go to McDonalds and spend $6-8 for a meal or you can go spend $15-30 any where else. Something needs to be done there. That's a huge cause of obesity in US. If everyone had access to $5-10 for a REAL FOOD meal, then obesity would plummet. He could spend $2 for pho where he is. Here, it's closer to $15.
The healthy factor is not much of the turn off in vietnam. Mostly because pricing, for 1 Mc meal we can get 2 phở portions or 3 cơm tấm, so we eat Mc when we feel like a rich person. And in the past, 20 years so, 1 Mc meal equal 7 phở. So that is why we don't do fastfood as much.
Great job just sticking to the meals you like vs the gimmicks. Your own Google map guide is a great idea and choosing a non-adventurous meal was very thoughtful. When I was training as a Chef my instructor deducted marks from my menu project because all my items were adventurous without a simple or basic selection. So full marks for you. Cheers
Hi Travis, for the very first time I watched your shows, I enjoyed them very much. I left Vietnam 37 years ago. The last time I went back to visit was in 2003. Which means 22 years now. But after watching your shows, I was impressed by how Vietnam has developed a lot. I wish you all the success in Vietnam! Plz keeps making more videos. I love it! I hope your channel will grow to 2 million subscribers or more. Peace! All the best, Travis! ❤❤

Very cool video when we lived in Vietnam in 2009 2010 there were no McDonald’s. There were a ton of KFC and other fast food but no McDonald’s and you’re absolutely right everybody loves eating street food because it’s faster it’s ready it’s fresh and it’s cheap bonus for westerners is it’s healthy, great channel
Yea cuz american food is trash and most international food are dumbed down quality unless youre in the major tier 1 city like new york or chicago. 90 l% asian food in the states price are ridiculously hiked up and taste nothing genuine. Besides italian, its ridiculous hard to find a good french, german, spanish food. And the sushi in the states for the love of god.
Fast foods doesn't work in Viet Nam cause you can find freshly made dishes in every corner. But people do like McD's there. It's sort of a novelty, something different.
The secret of McDonalds product is that they not taste much. Somethings that taste like nothing can not taste bad. Think about burgers, fries and so on and the taste. The food has no strong or special taste. The quality is allways the same and consistency is good, but.... In vietnam they have so much tastefull and different options american fastfood isn´t that attractiv for the locals.
Mcdonalds has never been worse in North America. Food is grotesque, service is horrible, prices are higher than ever. I only go for coffee there as it is the only thing that is not going to kill you.
Some more points that McDonald's failed ( from a Vietnamese perspective) 1. 99.9% of Asians (Mongoloid) never use cheese as ingredient to cook their food. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Laotian....etc 2. McDonald's foods lack spices. 3. More expensive and less appetizing to Vietnamese taste. 4. McDonald's foods are dried foods that's why it's accompanied with soft drinks.
I'm eating Vietnamese food here at home in San Francisco while watching you eat crappy American food over there. My small meal is delicious and healthy but costs $16. I can't wait to move over there and eat better healthy, tasty food every day for just a dollar or two.
Sitting down at a small restaurant , a shophouse on the street, will get you food in ten minutes. This is still fast food, without the poor nutrion from Amerrican style fast food.

It sounds like you haven't been home to the United States in about 5 years because the price of fast food is more than eating it a good restaurant or cooking yourself😂
I might eat fast food here in the U.S. twice a year. It's a plainly unhealthy habit. I specifically stopped eating at McDonald's over 30 years ago, because the McDonald's corporation gives money to anti-gun organizations.
Damn i thought this would be at least a 200k channel by the quality of the video. I'm sure it'll grow into that in no time! Nice video man

A double Quater pounder with cheese, larger fries, and large coke is $13.00 US in Oviedo, Fl.
It’s not cheap in the states anymore it’s gotten so darn expensive for any fast food

MacDonald’s French Fries 🍟 are total sh*t . If you don’t eat them immediately as soon as they cool down they turn into coffin ⚰️ nails.

Yes they will use cheap oils for frying at local vietnamese places, I try to avoid too many fried things

USA is 30 times larger than Vietnam. To put it in perspective, Texas is twice the size of Vietnam. Vietnam is almost as large as California.
My mistake
No chicken and rice like that . Wow

Yo you got me, totally messed that one up
McDonald's in the Vietnam is actually good
It’s too expensive for locals that’s probably why too
Mcd is in competition with the good tasting and cheap vietnamese food in the area, so they have to up their game and make higher quality food there
i will be using your likeness in a video
Can you elaborate?
I got to McDonalds for a large diet coke because it's cheap at $1.50 lol

All good points, especially about cheese. Cheese seems so common most places in the world but barely exists in Vietnam
Korean street food has lots of cheese
No fried chicken 🐔 😂 and super $pendy now… like $15 average for large combos Screens are now in all MickieDs
The fried chicken actually not bad but you can get chicken rice at a local joint for about $1.50 much better
