If you plan on adding power to the engine, build it yourself with the right parts. I wouldn't trust an OEM short block that you would find on the internet.
$7k for shortblock gets you a stock bottom end. Build what you got with "insurance policy" stronger rotating assembly. It's good to have a little headroom.
Wish I could help you out as far as tuner shops go. I use to know shop owners in the Springs and Denver. I’ve been out of the tuner game for a while. Why not just buckle down, focus on your business and buy the parts that you want for your build when funds come available? I know that you want it running now, but doing more research into what you want to accomplish with the car will payoff.
@UnWrecked you're right, but I do feel like you atleast have an idea of what to expect with that. You can set yourself up for winning, as opposed to a motor you didn't maintain yourself and has obviously been ran hard.
Get your heads inspected to see if they are good. I would prefer to built my engine you'll have warranty for a while and you'll know it's solid vs buying used you never know how it was treated even if it takes a bit longer unless you come on some really good deal o get it sucks having your car down but better to do it right to prevent it from being down again good luck and keep the content coming great stuff
Damn...I had to check to see if I missed some videos this last month. Nope, nothing new.
Working on securing a motor still 😅

NO car is worth your baby & that is your biznizz. Be Patient. Name of the game is always patience.
If you’re planning to keep the car spend the money and build the motor. If you’re gonna sell the car eventually just go oem and enjoy the car
In the short term an OEM block may be the most cost-effective way but in the long run a matching - numbers car is always worth more & easier to sell.
If your going to be beating on it I would get the motor built. May cost more money but I think you'll be more happy in the long run.
This is exactly why I can’t buy a gtr. My money isn’t that long. After I go back to school maybe lol.
Build the block you have with upgraded rods, pistons, ETC
Get that new block....scratch that lol.
Get the friends full engine, that seems like it would be the smartest move
Let's be honest though, you could end up with the same issue you're currently having buying a short block second hand.
No guarantees with a built block either. It's basically how much money you want to spend and what your main goal is.

Speed costs money...how fast do you want to go? Let that sink in for a minute.
I would keep matching numbers block and buy another block to build up.
Jaks uses Rocky Mountain machine he’s awesome and knowledgeable! Go talk with him about it.
Get the OEM short block
Bottom line - you don't know
Build your bare block. Lots of content there even though there will be downtime
