I worked with Dave Crower to design a reciprocating assembly for a 10,000 RPM 310 cu inch dry-sump SBC. I spent a year developing a twin turbo setup with cockpit adjustable boost. The engine made 660HP normally aspirated and 1450 HP at 14 lbs boost at the rear wheels. I really appreciate how you apply an analytical approach to testing a car before seeing what it can really do. Looked like a fun ride.
Hell yeah Craig and Misha, that's a drive to remember! People don't realize the physicality of a car like this, the efforts of the manual steering and pedals. You can see it in Misha's arms as he tries to hold the steering around high G corners. Also keep in mind many of the other cars on track are full throttle and trying but the Ultima passes all of them with little effort. The Ultima is every bit a thinly disguised race car for the street.
Thanks for the great camera angles, including the pedals. That was like watching Nureyev at his peak. Absolutely delicious treat. Spot on with the LeMans type car. I used to LOVE watching LeMans from the late 90s to the early 2000s. This car he has made is basically a McClaren F1 Sports car that has been dressed up with Aero. Loved everything so much I watched it twice. lol and this part 9:56 is hilarious. It basically is a gocart on steroids. I built a similar car but much less expensive and no carbon fiber back in the 90s and boy did it get me in trouble but it was soooo much fun. Eventually someone t-boned me and totaled it. I'm thinking I probably need to build another one in this style soon. Hopefully we will get to see this car again someday.
The scene where the suspension picks up fine undulations on the track and the field of vision is shaken in detail was exactly the same as my own field of vision when I drove a racing kart. This is literally a hard-core drug with no ABS or TCS. And if I enjoyed it correctly, I could legitimately see a great car running with adrenaline bursting in my brain. And I was very lucky to be able to see it on the Nordschleife.
Please find out about active noise cancellation, as I'm sure you're aware, with this technique you are able, literally at the flick of a switch, to dramatically change the sound and volume of the exhaust note. Given all the efforts put into this wonderful car, surely the little extra would be of serious benefit even if only to allow a few extra laps for testing, all that time invested in getting the lap around the ring and only getting one when you really needed more to get accustomed to the characteristics of the car. Great job as always, lovely to watch.
This was a blast from the past. I remember Ian taking me for a lap around Bedford in his Westfield. And later around Northampton in his E30 M3. What a cool car he has now!

You got the hang of it towards the end. This was my dream car until I discovered the superlite. It has better geometry according to F1 engineers who have compared both. Either way they are absolute beasts and IMO the ultimate driver car. You can't buy something better than this type of car for doing this IMO. Been in a full carbon Radical RXC600 and it was mental. This looks/feels similar stupid fast and it's not even being pushed.
I remember doing at Trackday at Brands and a guy came in a white one with a twin turbo ls7 one of these , he asked to test his exhaust, 1 rev shook the entire paddock and blew dust out the ceilings , the noise tester laughed him off 😂. Everyone was chatting to him for the rest of the day. These things are absolute beasts.

There's a reason why Gordon Murray picked two Ultima mk3 (Albert and Edward) as test mules for the F1 project. And did it again for the T.50 with another Ultima EVO Coupe nicknamed George.

This is why I really enjoy watching your videos. While you may like to take risks and push cars and yourself, you know your limits and are a true professional when it comes to implementing risk mitigation. Pushing a car to its limits is one thing, but pushing a car you are not familiar with and on cold tires, is something a fool would do.
I love hearing Misha's comments on the car. He's driven so many performance cars at a high level, his opinions are legit.
9:56 i have never heard Misha making that sound before!
Thanks for the great camera angles, including the pedals. That was like watching Nureyev at his peak. What a beautifully choreographed dance it was with the dynamics of the roaring petrol orchestra accompanying those elegant moves across the asphalt stage. Beauty indeed. Too loud? Not bloody loud enough!
Always been in love with Ultima. The best part is that you can build it yourself👍

@@DaEVOthefreak From Ultima's website: "Is the Ultima RS road legal?
Yes, we have gone to great lengths to design the new Ultima RS in a manner for it to be deemed road legal in many countries, which is a hugely time-consuming and skilled task compared to simply manufacturing a track-only car. The beauty and ethos of the Ultima is that it can be enjoyed immensely on the public roads at sensible road speeds as well as on a race circuit where it can deliver devastatingly quick lap times. Driving an Ultima RS on the public roads is a wonderful event and is the kind of experience every true car enthusiast should savour and enjoy."
It says "many" countries. Not sure how many of those are in the eu because many of those have very strict regulations and I struggle to see how this beast would make it through the red tape. I don't think ac will suffice 🤣
I had to put 9:30 at .25 speed to see the BMW using an indicator. Nürburgring truly is a magical place.

This is a Kit car that you build at home, search for Ultima GTR online you wil find them.
I know of one driven daily.
Ultima GTR is the car Gordon Murray used to design and prototype the drivetrain and chassis of the Mclaren F1 and his new GMA fan car.
This was the supercar destroyer in the 2000s, had quite the reputation. Especially after they started putting twin turbo V8s in them LOL. Falls somewhere in between an Ariel Atom and a Koenigsegg.
The Mosler MT900 is a very similar car/concept from the same era(with a similar reputation) as well, that one being designed by a Corvette designer.
I’ve watch quite a few of his videos but this particular car pretty much takes the cake. It’s also the only time I haven’t seen the passenger scared even just a little bit. He was as cool as a cucumber because he knows the car well and obviously trusted Misha who has no fear and he’s a very experienced bad ass driver.

Good video. You can tell they are being super cautious with it too. Much much more performance available from that car.
if this car is as hard to drive in real life as it is in Automobilista 2. you are a genius for not having crashed it
Assuming the simulation is accurate, I expect even the scariest cars are a little easier to drive in real life as you can feel what's going on at any moment so much better.
My immediate thoughts were that this thing looks really sketchy to drive. Pretty much anything old with heaps of power and no ABS is a handful
@@StephenDeTomasi I've heard they'll bite you *hard*

By the time that you realize you're naturally countersteering out of muscle memory, you should already be pointing the wheel straight or it'll whip around, big aero and sticky tires don't let you fishtail at speed you just crash instead lol
