    Love this video. one trick i employ to thin any jig skirt is a pair of barber "thinning sheers" a quick way to trim some of the strands

    great tip! I love a swim jig, I usually put a screw lock with a small willow spinner in the bottom of my trailer to give it a little flash, I seem to get a few more fish doing this maybe it's because the fish don't see a swim jig like that as much.

    Caught my first two Swim Jig fish:
    Benefits:
    1. Far more weedless than Crank baits when fishing around grass
    2. Solid hook up with that big single hook
    3. Fish don't throw them when they jump
    4. Casts well; more aerodynamic than a crank bait.

    Thanks for the tips. I have a large surplus of 3/8 oz slither rigs or “punch skirt rigs”, I was planing on using them as jigs and swim jigs with an EWG hook and a suitable Texas rigged plastic trailer. Do you think this is a reasonable way to use these “skirted bullet heads”? Thanks for the feedback.

    Hey Matt. Have you angle cut the top of the weed guard? That’s one of my mods that I do in light cover. Like you have mentioned about a fish coming up and the weed guard hitting the fishes mouth. I normally don’t start out like that big of I’m losing trailers (craws flappers) I’ll angle trim my weed guard and that seems to help me. Thanks Matt

    • @MattStefanFishing

    I know I'm literally a year late commenting on thus video. But I'm a swimjig freak as well and always have one tied on also. It's really underrated as a slow roll presentation in cold water and other situations. I also know you have the dirty jig situation going in, but Matt please try the nichols swimjig. I don't know what it is about that jig but it flat gets bit man. I sometimes use a now discontinued trailer that makes it even better for slow roll

    • @MattStefanFishing
      @MattStefanFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not like xtra fast rods for anything really, but they dont work well with swim jigs. My go to swim jig rod is a 7'3" MH fast action MHX NMB873 blank.

    • @kevinbolton5
      @kevinbolton5 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MattStefanFishing yea I agree why do we have XF action unless it's heavy Flipping , Fast actions give you enough give so the hook does not boar a hole in the Basses mouth amoung of problems.
