    Thanks. I caught my 1st chatterbait bass yesterday 3½lb smallmouth and my 1st wacky rig bass 2lb smallmouth. That jig head wacky rig with your finger on the line using a spinning reel is the bomb. I could have gotten more but I gave a guy the spot I was in because I had a appointment. Seriously thanks.

    I live up in Cleveland Ohio & that 47F is the warm part of the shoreline surface temperature of Lake Erie right now; that's also with an average depth of 13 feet out 20 feet from shore. The rest of the Lake is still fairly cold it's still like 40f at 30 feet down. The smallmouth bass are already heading up into rivers to spawn.

      Water still in the 40s up here in Michigan, we’ve been smoking them on blade baits. Did a video a couple weeks ago. th-cam.com/video/eDdMGHLOMFk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=18c4e4jw8uF-sVA1

    While I have a 30 year old Bangalure tied on to one rods my all time favorite is a Lucky Strike super soft black neon lizard. No other lizard on the market today compares. Fish will just hold on to them.

    I really like a swim jig all year long. There are few other baits that are as versatile, in my opinion. It is certainly a bait you rarely have to change out for something else because it does so many things so well!

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like I got into the swim jig game so late compared to others. But since I figured it out it has been a staple for sure!

    Thanks for another great video Steve. I have never tried a floating worm or a floating jerk bait in the spring. It makes sense to throw those over cover. I have a bunch of laydowns in the lake I fish. those two presentations may do the trick. I am loving your Bass Behavior Bundle. Have a happy Easter Steve.

    I love April here in Colorado. The smallmouth will be starting as soon as the water warms a bit more and we kill them with Ned rigs, tube jigs, senkos and jerk baits.

    Well Steve, another great video… that said, I’ve switched gears, hung up the bass gear and started dusting off my saltwater gear… out here in Southern California our small ( poorly managed lakes ) get a ton of pressure during spring and summer so I typically fish for bass from October through March and start surf fishing here and in Mexico… I’m looking forward to your early fall videos 🏄🏼‍♂️🎣🤙🏻

    Here in West Virginia the water is just starting to warm up, I’m throwing a lot of glide baits, big soft swimbaits, chatterbait, spinnerbait, and swimjig. I’m not really concerned with numbers of fish, I’m looking for the biggest fish in the lake. I would rather catch one 7lb bass as I would seven 2lb bass so I am quite familiar with the skunk.😂

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors

    How do you know how much shad or blue gill are in your water?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question. Most state DNR agencies will do a electroshock fish survey every couple of years for most waters. They will have listed the population results for most of the species. If you are on a smaller body of water or private water that isn’t surveyed then it is a lot harder and lots of hours watching while you are out.

    Roughly where do you mean by "way up north "?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was generally referring to the upper border states with Canada. A lot of my friends in MN got pounded by snow and more freezing temps last week. Great question.
