I was out at Clear Lake, CA the last few days and I threw a strike king jig with a craw trailer that a gentleman at "Clearlake Outdoors Tackle shop" suggested, and I hooked more bass in 2 hours than in my entire life. Thanks for the great videos.
Dude I had to pause to make this comment. I’ve been fishing for years but recently got into the bass game. I’ve watched tons of videos and you’re the first angler that has really broke it down for us to understand how this bait works. I’ve really learned a lot from this one video. Thanks man, keep up the great content!
Very first time in 40 years decided to use a jig bc of you guys. Threw a 3/8oz strike king swimjig shad color with a 6thsense black bongo3.5 trailer from a rip rap bank into about 20 ft of water in the middle of the day last week … my very first cast ever using one…. 5lber on the dot choked it immmeditely. BTW this is in NY mind you so a 5 is alot harder to catch ! Instant new favorite bait. Thanks guys!
Come on fans, over 5000 views and only 500 likes?! That’s ridiculous, you know this is the best information out there. Support them, give the like, give the comment, and subscribe. Matt and Tim, your passion for the sport goes unparalleled; especially in the realm of instructional videos! Thank you for another great one! ~Jerry
Matt I believe that you were born to do instructional videos for fishing. Everything to teach comes out so natural and sounds like you put a lot of time into your passion to give us the best content you can.
I like most about your videos is that you take the time to break it all down to where anyone can understand a apply the techniques that you use. Thanks Matt, you guys are the best.
This is the best instructional video, of how to fish a particular category of lures, I've ever watched on TH-cam. Even though I'm a bit late finding it🤣, still worth the watch. Matt, you've quickly became my favorite fisherman to learn from. You do a fantastic job. Keep up the great content!
Wow, Awesome Videos. Better than any other TV Fishing Shows and or Magazines. I like the detail explanations. Many other sources leave out that last little bit of information. Matt Allen goes the distance explaining so anyone can understand. I’m learning something each time I watch.
the knowledge ive gained from this man since ive started bass fishing a little over a year ago is incredible! really appreciate taking the time to make these for us peasants 🤣
About eight years ago I got back into bass fishing. Where I'm from it's spinnerbaits, crankbaits and plastics all day long. I would go to places with thick vegetation and get annoyed I couldn't fish because the slop was in my way. Then I found your channel and learned about swim jigs, punching and frogs. Completely changed my bass fishing experience. I fish cover 90% of people avoid and pull fish out. When I'm asked what lure I'm using and I say, "a swim jig," I get a puzzled look and they just move on. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and experience. Because of the information you shared with me on your couch (it was an OLD video) I am a much better angler.
You are 100% correct Matt, my swim jig game went up 100x once I figured out the trailer deal. I make 3 styles of swim jig and each one has its own type of trailer that works the best with it. Fishing the Mississippi river often, a strong swim jig game is a must.
Dude this guy has been an awesome resource to help me gain the knowledge of bass fishing. I’ve been a trout fisherman for my whole life. Bass fishing is intricate but tac bassin has made it understandable. I’ve subscribed and if you want help you should to. Thanks gentlemen!!!
thanks Matt ...I fish Guntersville and like to fish a swim jig. This will improve my success with this technique. Glad you came and fished here wish you could have visited a little longer.
Went out today and caught 40+ bass including 30+ over 2 lbs in about 4 hrs using a jerk bait after figuring out a pattern, starting with burning and pausing a chatter bait and switching over to the jerk bait...I 100% owe this to you guys and your teaching! Thank you so much for the knowledge you share!
Over the years I've learned to really look forward to these types of videos, where you're just sitting down teaching. Your experience and knowledge shows, unlike so many who are just selling baits.
I haven’t used the swim jig yet but theoretically the versatility it offers is second to none. And when you think where you should primarily be fishing. Which is in cover. This has to be one of the best moves
Yes it makes a very big difference swimming the pointed head versus the rounded head. I had an experienced lately where I didn't have a swim jig and tried to use a jig with a rounded head not-so-good through the grass
I seriously sat here and watched this whole video.. it wasn’t boring. It was informative and I’ll def be using these swim baits more often now. Side note: I can’t believe you filmed this video without a screw up. You were flawless on your video. Great job as always. Thanks guys
I finally broke down and bought a heavy rod specifically for my jigs. Why I waited I’ll never know, because the quantity and quality of fish had really gotten better. This video gave me some ideas I really want to try. Really glad I found your channel!!
Sounds like it's better for ripping the jigs through the brush and then pulling the bass out of that cover... I can't speak from confidence though. I caught zip yesterday 🤦♂️
Funny thing is that’s what I use when I’m going craw pattern. As far as a chatterbait, I use a zoom super chunk. For some reason it’s jus different enough to get a few more bites.
Ever since subscribing and following you guys I've learned about seim jigs and I've fell in love with the versatility! I learn so much from you guys and you've helped me to catch my #1 and #2 PB's this year! Thank you!
I think Matt and Tim are listening to us through our Alexa. Even though I unplugged mine three weeks after we got it. I’m trying to pick up swim Jigs too. When did I buy my first swim Jigs? Friday. Matt/Tim are watching.
I’ve been using swim jigs for a few years now and I love them a lot. I’ve also noticed that people are almost afraid to throw them because I never hear anything about people using them. When I ask people if they’ve ever used them they usually say “I’ve tried it but I didn’t care for it” it just amazes me because I’ve caught some big fish in them
Ever since I started watching your swim jig tutorials I have stepped up my fish catch’s 10 fold. It’s not a technique that was used much in my waters and a cpl yrs ago I used your advice and since have really done well. Thnx for all you do. 🤙🏻
Matt, not for the first time, Today I listened to you profess that you are able to skip a light jig farther than you can skip a heavier one. You aren't the only one who has said this, but I don't believe you- it contradicts what I have found. So my challange is that you PROVE it. Please make the video that proves me wrong and you right. If you give a heavier jig the same velocity as a light one, and send it at the same angle, momentum of the heavier jig carries it farther. No question, some jigs have more resistance to gliding across the water's surface than others. Some head shapes don't promote skipping, either. But ANY two similar jigs- the weight being the notable difference- will prove me correct. Go 'head. Make my day.
@Stoney Lonsome honestly the angles a boat makes is a huge difference. you can put it anywhere you want, while bank fishing you almost always only get a 45 degree angle to cast because of the tree line.
Stoney Lonsome there’s different aspects of every pond or lake, big fish are in the harder to reach spots that need a machete here in west TN. We learn to skip and flip loooong distances! And if we get hung up we are basically screwed...
I fish from the bank and these jigs are spot on.. I use a small jig when the grass is tighter to the bank.. A bigger jig in the summer to get a little deeper when its supper hot... Im in Indiana and use a regular spincast reel it has 14lb Berkley braided line and haven't been let down yet... Blues grays and silvers are your freind this time of year... Good luck and good fishing
Thanks Matt Allen I am a great bass fisherman now thanks to all your advice keep up the good work bro I also want to thank Tim little I'm watching you guys year round great stuff
I'm in central Florida where the grass gets so thick that I usually use a surface lure in those areas. I have a long extra heavy rod that I usually reserve for flipping techniques. I'm taking that California Jig for a stroll right through the grass. Great update video! I appreciate it.
I started using the rage swimmer per your guys suggestion this year and absolutely smashed them this spring! Thanks guys! Haven't been able to get back on that bite post spawn but it was great while it lasted!
After watching this I ordered up some swim jigs. threw them this weekend for the first time in a local kayak tournament. Ended up in the money. Thanks for the info.
I’m so glad you made this video, I’m new to freshwater fishing . It’s a learning curve from saltwater. I’ve been fishing jigs all wrong . Really appreciate all the info. Thanks. Set the hook brother
This is my first time on this channel.. This was hands down the most knowledgeable and informative video on any lure I’ve ever seen! I’m newer to jigs and am super excited even more about it! Thanks for the A1 video, I subbed!
I'm new to the swimbait/swimjig game and I've been throwing them for a little over a month now and I caught my personal best great video Matt !down here in South Alabama along the tensaw delta and Mobile Bay Causeway this would-be killer in the fall as well being that our summers last a lot longer than the rest of the country
I bet all the old-timers are pissed off but you know what fishing ain't about Secrets fishings about spreading the culture like I said before Matt Allen is the s*** and so is Tim
Man, Matt! When you get going on a topic, you just flooow! like nobody else, an unstoppable train. Matt "The Guru" Allen. Ho-hum, just another truly helpful video. When is it gonna stop??! HAHA. Awesome job!
This and another video by them have me fired up. Just spent a couple hundred bucks on the specific baits listed. I’m eagerly anticipating using the stuff!
Matt, thank you so much. Love love learning from you. I know this is a year old but I learned something new every time I watch you. You guys are such great teachers thank you so much for what you do.
Hi, I have been fishing on and off my whole life. This year I started again, now older I’m more patient and I have put in some time. I have gotten really good at fines with a fluke, I catch a lot of fish. I mostly bank fish and fish canals of my paddleboard. I live in south Florida. I wanted a technique so I could fish the bottom , with the fluke I can’t get to the bottom efficiently. I started experimenting with jigs two weeks ago, minor success. Dragging a jig on the bottom. I saw your video this morning and sure enough I had a few swim gigs. I grabbed one white and green and used a 360gt storm search bait as a trailer. I got 4 fish over 3 pounds and 4 fish that were around the 2 1/2 mark. No mini bass. And like you said , throw and retrieve, no jerking just setting the hook every time I felt a bump. Thanks for the video. Great info , I learned a lot from you.
Tactical Bassin is a real class act. Good job on some fantastic content. Northern IL and Southern WI the swim jig is a spring to fall kinda deal for me. Hard to beat.
Matt, Bass fishing the delta is just small bass, and little bites. Do you suggest throwing the jig, deep on the ledge in the canal with slack tide with incoming till 12:00 outgoing the rest of the day. Not the ideal conditions and we want to catch bass. Any thoughts on how you would fish this not so good conditionson the delta, or how would you fish a day like this on the Delta, if you just can only go so far north and still be below central delta........
I was just fishing a swim jig on Toledo Bend yesterday having a lot of success but wanted to do expand upon it. As always you guys put out some great content. Thanks
I sure do appreciate all the helpful information I've gone from lucky catches to Matt Allen technique catching! Definitely came along way by watching your channel!
This video is so on point. Hi have been experimenting with trailers here in on Georgia. I get bit on swim jigs and weightless senkos more then anything. Swim jog is my go to. Through grass at late in the evening or early morning, especially if it has rained hard is so freakin awesome.
What part of Georgia? I'm on the Georgia/North Carolina line. Lots of great lakes around where I live but not much success on swim jig. Seems like they would rather have just the craw or swim bait t rigged.
I live in Florida and I literally chunk these Dirty jigs with a trailer in the thick grass and thick lilly pads and it just goes right through it all. I get some nasty top water explosions and the hooks on the bad boys are no joke. Bad@$$ jig. Bought so many of them. Love flipping the 3/4 oz.
I've not had any luck at all with a swim jig yet. I'm thinking I need to try grass busting in my pressured waters! There is plenty of grass for sure. Thanks, Matt and Tactical!
I just got into swim jigs this summer and started out with a tour grade swimming jig from strike king in the bluegill color and put a 3.8 keitech swing impact in bluegill flash and it looks really good in the water.
Great video Matt, the ponds I fish are so grass it's hard to fish a senko and regular jigs so this is great,I learn so much from you guys it made me a great Fisherman it is my birthday soon and I will definitely ask for these
I really like the confidence it takes to throw a swim jig every time I throw it it looks amazing in the water but after not getting bit after about 30 minutes I always pick up something else
You can trim the skirt short on a bluegill pattern, then cinch the skirt down tight with wire or braid. This will cause it to poof open fast, into a big round profile, every time it stops on the bottom or bumps an object. The chartreuse tail also helps suggest a bluegill more convincingly, without the profile/hook issues of a replica SwimBait. I'm not into bed fishing but post pawn if you run into those big June monsters looking for some bluegill beatdown, you're ready with an ideal hook and ratio to close the deal. I've always got a bunch of Ca. swim jigs in my box.
I like the action from the Big E-Z cut shorter to get the right length or the Berkeley Havoc Grass Pig, again shortened. Also, use a loop knot to allow the rig the freedom to wiggle. It's good for flipping too. Bluegill are constantly taking damsel flies off the surface and darting back down the water column.
Not only learning about jigs in this video.. but also presentation in general.
I've said it before, Matt Allen is the smartest fisherman on TH-cam! Great information bro.
Right on dude !
Agree 1000%
Brian Hulse You forgot Tim Little ;)
@@6959-n6n 😆 no way they are a team. Tim is definitely included in my stament.
I agree his style of teaching is incredibly elaborate

Matt I believe that you were born to do instructional videos for fishing. Everything to teach comes out so natural and sounds like you put a lot of time into your passion to give us the best content you can.
I am on east coast, NC but in another life I would like to go fishing with you guys. I am a huge fan. Thanks for all you do to help us.
I love how you get into the essential physics behind the differences between trailers.
Matt your videos are a cut above everything else on YT. The detail is amazing. Thanks so much!
Matt, yourself and Tim have helped transform my friends and I into pretty good anglers. We are forever thankful
Also I’d love to hear your opinions on googan baits hahaha
I like most about your videos is that you take the time to break it all down to where anyone can understand a apply the techniques that you use. Thanks Matt, you guys are the best.
Yall guys are just the best. Thanks for the information. This video alone has improved my swim jig fishing by multiples.
This is the best instructional video, of how to fish a particular category of lures, I've ever watched on TH-cam. Even though I'm a bit late finding it🤣, still worth the watch.

That's awesome!! Stories like this are what keep us going! Oh the couch... that was a long time ago 🤪
Swim jig fishing is my absolute favorite way to fish. The bites are almost always those that just get hammered. Thanks for sharing.

I can always count on you guys to post right when I’m getting to the lake on super early mornings, freakin love it.
Just landed my personal best bass with a swim jig! I was stuck in a rut for years with good bass but not monsters. Thanks guys! You rock!
Yes it makes a very big difference swimming the pointed head versus the rounded head. I had an experienced lately where I didn't have a swim jig and tried to use a jig with a rounded head not-so-good through the grass
I agree that this guy is a smart dude with the correct type of logic.
best fishing guru in TH-cam... always sharing valuable tips based on his experienced on the waters...
Up in Canada here..🇨🇦
Love your videos, the absolutely best information, thanks for sharing!
WONDERFUL job. Helps me fish my local pond with lots of grass... Calie style. Thanks!
As usual another great video from the best bass fishermen on the internet. Tactical Rocks.
I seriously sat here and watched this whole video.. it wasn’t boring. It was informative and I’ll def be using these swim baits more often now. Side note: I can’t believe you filmed this video without a screw up. You were flawless on your video. Great job as always. Thanks guys

Robert Timmerman why is the heavy rod better for jigs ?
Sounds like it's better for ripping the jigs through the brush and then pulling the bass out of that cover... I can't speak from confidence though. I caught zip yesterday 🤦♂️
Twin tail grub all day on a swim jig. Basic but deadly. Great content brother
I've had good luck with the twin tail on a chatter bait also.
Aj Wenzel
Try a strike king rage tail craw! It works even better. Swim it or crawl it. It gets hammered!
Thank you!
I swear every video y'all release it's like you're reading my mind on what I want to fish with that week!
ME TOO
I think Matt and Tim are listening to us through our Alexa. Even though I unplugged mine three weeks after we got it. I’m trying to pick up swim Jigs too. When did I buy my first swim Jigs? Friday. Matt/Tim are watching.
Something similar happened to me.....I think you may be on to something lol.
Matt, your presentations are so helpful. Today's swim jig presentation may be one of your best for me. I'll be using swim jigs tonight.
I just discovered the results of swim jig fishing yesterday and now I am "hooked!"
Awesome video!!!! Coming from fly fishing and getting my daughter into fishing. Really learned alot from this one. You earned a subscriber!!!
I never miss a video, love you guys. Thanks for all the hard work and great advise.
Eat, Sleep, Fish, Repeat
Seriously one of the best and most informative videos I have seen. Thanks!
Caught my first swim jig bass yesterday, underneath a dock. Appreciate your help guys!!! Always wanted to start throwing swim jigs effectively.
Nothing beats a jig with a good trailer for massive bass
I’ve been using swim jigs for a few years now and I love them a lot. I’ve also noticed that people are almost afraid to throw them because I never hear anything about people using them. When I ask people if they’ve ever used them they usually say “I’ve tried it but I didn’t care for it” it just amazes me because I’ve caught some big fish in them
Thanks a lot for clearing things up for me. I can always count on you guys to get my skills refined.
This video is so helpful. I never used to fish a swimjig and after changing out my trailers based on this video i cant put it down. Thanks Matt!
You guys are The Shizzle.
Great Job and Thank you!
Ever since I started watching your swim jig tutorials I have stepped up my fish catch’s 10 fold. It’s not a technique that was used much in my waters and a cpl yrs ago I used your advice and since have really done well. Thnx for all you do. 🤙🏻

Excellent video Matt! Going to throw my swimmin’ jig at Clearlake tomorrow!
I love the "ATV" aspects of fishing a swim jig. Nice rundown as usual Matt 👍
Would love to see a best bank fishing baits or something similar to help out you boatless subs! Love the vids
This bait right here is good from bank.
@Stoney Lonsome honestly the angles a boat makes is a huge difference. you can put it anywhere you want, while bank fishing you almost always only get a 45 degree angle to cast because of the tree line.

Mat and Tim , ya have the best informative videos . I enjoy them all . Tight Lines Men !
Thanks guys used the Rage tail. Structure Bug this weekend and had a blast. Tylor
I have to agree with Brian, excellent teacher.

Wow! I've never felt confident enough to throw a swim jig much. This video taught me a ton. Thanks man! Definitely gonna throw a swim jig tomorrow.
You'll never use anything else again
Besides live bait, it's the most fun you'll have fishing
Man, Matt! When you get going on a topic, you just flooow! like nobody else, an unstoppable train. Matt "The Guru" Allen. Ho-hum, just another truly helpful video. When is it gonna stop??! HAHA. Awesome job!
Great tips I use to throw a swim jig I will try it again in my next trip out it’s a very good bite

You are awesome, have learned so much about jig fishing.
Best advice for fishing on this channel. Absolutely love this channel!
Tactical Bassin is a real class act. Good job on some fantastic content. Northern IL and Southern WI the swim jig is a spring to fall kinda deal for me. Hard to beat.
Recently changed to a Rage swimmer from a KVD Paddle tail ... there is a big difference. Thanks for the refresher!
Awesome video. Heading to Sam Rayburn in a week. Watched this and bought 2 California Swim Jigs afterwards! Wish me luck!
Reel Kidd Fishing good luck brother!
I'm a keitech fanatic. But i only fish it weightless. Never on a swim jig. Maybe ill try what I learned from this video. Thanks for sharing.

I use the Rage Bugs for trailers and they are killer trailers.
Manna from Heaven - about to fish a tournament where this will be so relevant. Love the new trailer options. Thank you Matt.
Absolutely great information keep it coming and keep on fishing!
i love you man thanks for all the free game matt you are the best
sweet...I was about to give up on jigs...never have any luck..grassy grassy grassy...but this gives me hope.
It took me a long time to really try a swimjig. I started throwing it earlier this year and I’ve caught some giant fish here in NC on these things
Really liking y'all's videos 👍. Y'all are the Bass University.
And free!
OTCDestiny you’re right it shouldn’t be free at all. These guys have helped out a lot of people
Amen to it be free and criminal lol

What part of Georgia? I'm on the Georgia/North Carolina line. Lots of great lakes around where I live but not much success on swim jig. Seems like they would rather have just the craw or swim bait t rigged.
DixieNate89 Martin West of Atlanta. I try to fish different areas when I can. Texas rig is awesome too.
OMG! My confidence is unglued because of you guys! I can’t wait for Spring! Punxsutawney Phil here I come! Oh yeah! 👍
Another HomeRun vid! Nobody does it better than you guys! Great explanation!
Great video Matt, the ponds I fish are so grass it's hard to fish a senko and regular jigs so this is great,I learn so much from you guys it made me a great Fisherman it is my birthday soon and I will definitely ask for these
I fished a swim jig in the 70s and I'm from the south. California takes credit for everything. Lol
Love the channel guys. Tactical bassin is getting me TH-cam certified lol. Matt and Tim are amazing, keep up the great work guys.
Thanks for sharing I'm trying to learn better techniques with swim jig
