Oh Yea, my Samsung side by side frigerator had all those freezer problems. Finally I found a repair person (after 2 who didn't) who knew how to fix it, but of course it cost plenty. It's the very last Samsung appliance I will ever buy. Thanks for all the information.

Thanks for the response and the suggestions. In the meantime, having not being able to persuade Samsung to let me have a Service Manual, I decided to just pitch blindly in and dismantle the rear panel of the fridge section so that, firstly, I could check the sensor and the motor/flap assembly. The sensor was OK. However, the flap hinge was broken meaning that it was unable to close. I undertook a super-glue repair on the hinge housing to see if I could get things going whilst I sourced a new part. And, at the moment, things seem to be running as they should.
I find it really frusrating that manufacturers like Samsung not only market poorly designed products but then, deliberately, make it difficult for service engineers, owners, etc to obtain the information required to maintain the appliance. Greed and self-interest rule apparently. Thanks again for your interest.

Great video. Thanks for the info. My fan broke in that EVAP panel and Samsung has discontinued the part. It is 3.5 years old and unrepairable. I get it that design flaws happen and that parts can break. But Samsungs commitment to the customer is horrible. They offer no recourse at all. No part available, no accommodation and no refund. Worse than the quality of the refrigerator is the absolutely horrible and and incompetent customer service. In looking at the new models, it appears that have abandoned that design and have a redesigned EVAP panel in the newer models. None the less, I will NEVER buy another Samsung product for the rest of my life and would advise others not to as well.

Good video. Our Samsung side-by-side began to have ice maker problems soon after we purchased it. It was repaired under warranty over and over and some of the repairman told us that because of the poor design, the problem would never go away. After the last repair, the ice maker stopped working again in just three weeks. Samsung customer service is the worst thing I've ever had to deal with: a combination of stupidity, lies, and inconsistent policies that we found bewildering--all seeming to come from the Philippines, and the "managers," when we could actually get one on the phone, were useless. After months without an ice maker, we stopped dealing with Samsung. We turned instead back to BestBuy. They listened to our story and immediately offered us a new, high-quality fridge to replace our terrible Samsung. Needless to say, we went with another brand. I will never again purchase a Samsung refrigerator.

I've got a Samsung top freezer model # RT21M6213 SR/AA that is approx 5 years old. What sold us on this model was the feature that allows conversion of the top freezer into just a refrigerator. WE gained the top space for storage because we have an upright freezer in our basement. This past week our refrigerator stopped cooling and when a service tech came out it was determined we had a coolant leak and the fix was new evaporator coil and that was going to be $1200 US. 5 years ago we only paid $800 for this unit so yesterday we went out and purchased a simple Whirpool top freezer unit and it will be delivered tomorrow. It was fun while it last SAMSUNG and we are very disappointed!! Your videos are interesting so I am now a subscriber!

This is a problem with almost all home appliance nowadays, they don't want them to last over 10 years. They expect us to change and buy new ones within a range of 5 to 10 years. A toaster or water boiler probably on the sooner range and more expensive/bigger appliances near the 10 years edge.
Some known issues need to be there as well to keep insurance companies happy, companies and retailers get commissions selling those insurances and some of them (the big names) have their own insurance writer.
    it's a business matter rather than a know-how/engineering issue.

We have a 3 and a 1/2 year old French door refrigerator from this company. It's 3 and a 1/2 years old. I think we had 2 issues that were not entirely related to each other that happened in August, Thismakes me wonder if it had a power surge--this broke things down internally and more quickly? The power inverter went out and then very soon after working on the power inverter, we had the common issue with the evaporator water problem develop. Then replaced all of that as well as adding an additional 15W heating element over the evaporator itself. We then resealed the whole panel and trid to beef that whole area up-- then clean the coils and replace the evap tubing next to those coils. Within 5 days of revamping the system, it now makes a rattling sound each time the compressor is finished at night. Seems to be going from liquid to gas state. Can you make a suggestion to keep the compressing system or seal system from making this rattling/ farting sound? TY

Awesome explanation!!! I own a duplex therefore I have 2 Samsung fridges. Tenants have a French Door with water and deli draw. Its fridge area only cools to 47degree F and the ice maker doesn’t work bought it 11/2018. The freezer on bottom defrosts and refreezes evidenced by fused ice bags placed in freezer. There was been ice dripping inside fridge for so long that we measured 5 ups of water inside the deli drawer and spilled into the bottom of the fridge area. I made tenant vacuum back of fridge and take photos of thermometer for diagnostic evidence. I purchased food grade silicone and WILL seal ice-maker perimeter around the walls to prevent warm air entering the ice-maker, after I try it on my ice-maker on my Flexzone Samsung Fridge. Pretty looking appliances but lots of trouble with fridge cooling and ice-maker. Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks for a good and useful video. Wish I had known all of this before I purchased a Samsung side by side 'showcase' model. Mine, the RH57H8030 (a UK model) which is five years old, has recently started to run the refrigerator section at around -1 to -2 degrees C whatever setting I select for it. And, of course, everything in there begins to freeze solid. The cause appears to be that there is always cold air coming out of the vents in the refrigerator. That seems to indicate either a faulty temperature sensor (unlikely?) or a stuck-open flap. When I contacted Samsung's customer service section on several occasions in an attempt to order a service manual (which I was prepared to pay for) so that I had the information needed to locate, dismantle and test potential faults, I was just given the run around. That echos superbug1977's comments. They asserted that I could only be provided with the User Manual - despite the fact that I am a professional electronic and control engineer with over 50 years experience! They were, however, prepared to offer me a 25% discount against a new relacement model! So much for any commitment to repair and re-use rather than add to the existing stock of consumer products destined for land-fill. Have you come across the problems I am experiencing with my side by side? I appreciate that the North American model number will be different but from the research I have done so far my model seems similar to the US (and Canada?) RH22H9010SE model. Interested in any views you may have.

      @techvillappliancerepair3825  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Barry, thanks for watching the video and thanks for the question. I would say main board miscommunicates with an air dumper. According to my experience you need to replace main board, however, Samsung loves to ‘improve’ the electronics and create new and new versions of control boards so I would recommend to replace both main board and air dumper motor. Hello Garrik. I have a Samsung Fridge/Freezer Model RF22KREDBSG/AA. The fridge temperature is controlling fine but the freezer temperature is only about the same as the fridge temperature. When I disconnect power for 30 minutes, after plugging back in both freezer and fridge temperatures appear to indicate the correct ambient temperatures and when the compressor runs the temperatures come back down to what I expect to be the correct temperatures (-18C & 3C) but the freezer is not as cold as indicated. There is no frost or humidity developing in the freezer and the evaporator area is not frozen with lots of ice, just a minor amount at the top which I believe to be expected. I have the type of model fridge you show in the video and I'm experiencing the freeze up issue. But I'm wondering why replacing the evaporator cover assembly actually fixes the issue, if the underlying problem is poor design. Any thoughts? @techvillappliancerepair3825  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hello, thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided the issue with your Samsung fridge is exactly what we have shown in the video. Ice build up happens due to a temperature difference in evaporator area (cold) and inner compartment (warm). You need to replace evaporator cover because insulation is worn out and apply extra insulation material on entry level of the evaporator so decrease temperature difference as much as possible. Replacing sensors or drain kit is useless (sorry to hear that you have already spent time and money on that).

What else should I be testing on my RS2545SH? The compressor starts for about 10 seconds and then stops. Is an alternate way to reset the motherboard, from, say, directly on the motherboard? Unplugging and plugging back in isn't working. Doing the POWER FREEZE and POWER COOL process for 8-10 seconds isn't working.
    1) I am able to see a 2-3 degrees F drop in the freezer evaporator coils during Power Freeze mode, but nothing better that small delta change.
    2) Resetting the board Power Freeze + Power Cool for 10 seconds all appears normal.
    3) The fuse on the motherboard has continuity.
    4) Putting the appliance into Force Function mode FF FF, FO, rd, Fd and waiting 5-10 minutes does nothing to cause the compressor to come on for any extended period of time.
    5) I have tested the resistance of the thermal sensors in the freezer and fresh food sections between 5.6k - 6.6k Ohms at different room temps., and over 13k Ohms when the sensor is placed in ice water.
    6) A continuity test of the thermal fuses in both the freezer and fresh food sections shows both have continuity.
    7) Both fans in the freezer and fresh food sections are spinning freely.
    8) There is no ice build-up on either evaporator coils.
    9) Error codes keep changing. Was first 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13, and 14. Then was 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13, 14 when I changed thermal sensors out for new ones.
This problem began when someone left the freezer door ajar for an extended period of time. The food at the top section of the freezer warmed, as the lower section remained frozen due to the ice build-up on the evaporator coils. The food in the fresh food section warmed. I am wondering if there is a better way to reset the motherboard... or what else I should be testing.

Hi Chelsea, thanks for watching and thanks for the question.
I would recommend to start with an inverter board which is a common part to fail in this case.
It’s located near the main board on a back wall of the fridge.
Before ordering part you better call either manufacturer or local official Samsung part supplier to get the correct part number (it might be a bit different comparing what you can find online). If you still has an issue after inverter board replacement then replace the main board.
Sometimes, in order to save time it’s better to replace both parts at the same time.
Let me know if it helps.

I have an 11 yr old Samsung French door model. Already have had to install a metal extension that keeps drain line in the middle near bottom of fridge compartment from freezing, this has worked although I still need to occasionally ave to use a hairdryer to defrost this drain line manually. The ice maker has stopped freezing. The water will flow in when activated, but does not freeze in the icing compartment. Guessing based on TH-cam videos and self diagnosing, but I think it is a fan in back that blows cold air into 'ice room'. I could probably figure it out, but It looks really hard to fix and would need to take out all freezer drawer and back cover to get into it. So we've been using ice cube trays instead of trying to fix it. What I like is even cooling temps in the fridge area, with no freezing except if I place item in the middle bottom near back wall air outlets. I want to replace before it craps out completely, and the repair will probably be too expensive for the age of appliance.

my Samsung refrigerator no longer has any control for the temperatures of the freezer or the refrigerator. That control display is at the top when you open the doors and has 6 buttons and 2 visual displays of the two areas it is supposed to be controlling. Will replacing this panel fix this or do I need to replace the main board in back as well? It has been like this for years and it is still keeping things cold and frozen so I can manually verify with a laser temp probe if the temperatures are within the acceptable range. However it recently wasted the entire freezer as someone must have left the bottom freezer door open and it melted all the food

My Samsung makes a grapefruit-sized ball of ice right behind the fan and it completely seizes the fan if I don't put it into defrost mode every week. I added some foam insulation tape around the fan to curb the issue but it still forms ice and you can hear the fan hitting the ice. Should I take another stab at it and try insulating the cover this time or just go and throw it away?

Great video. Very informative. Is LG a better brand to buy or do they also have issues? I'm in US and have Samsung french door twin cooling plus model RF4298HA that's worked perfect for 11yrs until suddenly 2 weeks ago it stopped freezing newly added food, ice cream and frozen juice. Food already frozen in bottom drawer stayed frozen but new food in top drawer thawed and won't freeze.I didn't check back under panel. Need to do that. If it frosts up there, are you saying it will frost up again (once thawed) within a couple weeks? What causes it to suddenly frost up? I wondered if it my freezer issues may be the temp sensor and fan for freeze? The fridge cools perfectly and it drops ice cubes only when I turn power off and back on to reset. Since my Samsung fridge was so dependable for 11 yrs, I decided to purchase a new Samsung, but they appear to have major communication problems with customers. I couldn't get them to postpone or cancel my order so I can research my issues further. After finding videos to check more areas to possibly repair, I'm hopefully I can get freezer to work again. Or is it a given that once we start to have problems, Samsung fridge will continue to have issues more frequently? Appreciate your input.

2 - In case you wanna fix existing one I would suggest you to call a tech, this issue has to be diagnosed properly (hopefully, it’s a minor issue). After 10 years the probability of a major issues with Samsung fridge goes straight up so probably a new fridge is not a bad idea.

I have a Samsung SRF680CDLS - 4 door fridge and the upper fridge compartment has started freezing up every month or so. I have seen online that this is a common problem but on TH-cam the fix is to install a second ‘defrost element’ to clear the ice around the fan and sensor. Do you think that is a good fix?

    • @techvillappliancerepair3825
      @techvillappliancerepair3825  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Neil, thanks for watching and thanks for the question.
I would not recommend implementing that "easy solution" due to couple reasons:
      1. First of all the resistance of the circuit will be changed due to extra component added which can effect the way control board and harness was designed from the very beginning.
      2. Secondly, extra element means extra heat on the plastic materials which have not the best quality.
So, my own opinion is to replace the temperature sensor and adding extra insulation materials on the evaporator entry level along with heater clip is the best option.
