This is the first video in the series where I thought, "now that's a game I want to be playing right this second." When your sunglasses went flying and that boss was coming at you with the ground slams? That looks like SO much fun! I love the idea of big hits popping your gear off. Makes it feel like more than just eye candy. Really, really impressive progress!
A boss for different play styles would be cool. Examples: Overly aggressive boss: Has "phases" where they do a bunch of attacking until their stamina is low or gone. While they recover the player will have time to get in some free hits. This will teach the player how to defend, and what happens if they're too aggressive. Counter Puncher: Spends most of the time defending, and countering the player's actions. But if the player can counter the AI's attack, the AI will be stunned and will reward the player with free hits. This can teach the player how to counter punch. Just a couple examples, but I'm sure there are plenty other ideas out there
That new menu looks absolutely beautiful like honestly, it feels like a very interactive menu, I can imagine it being you walk into a changing room and that's on a wall or something! Also Utility AI sounds fantastic I may need to look into that for a Summer project I am doing for Uni!

Boss suggestion: Add a boss that has a teleportation move, maybe if you get blocked it has a chance to teleport behind you and do a epik move. Bonus suggestion: Make a boss that has move that temporarily disables one of your abilities, not stunning you but disabling a ability like blocking. Or you can add a boss that makes you weaker/take more damage/make you use more stamina.
For some boss attack/utility ideas: 1. A Dash just to keep things interesting 2. Boss can go invisible for some time 3. Some form of shadow boss? Which can "hide in the shadows" aka go in the ground and come out somewhere in the arena? 4. Some sort of Plant boss? Which can maybe stun you with some plants or leafs 5. Maybe bosses can heal? Depending on the type of boss with a different animation? ( Plant boss for example sniff at a flower LOL ) 6. DEFINITLY A TWIN BOSS ( Have u seen the movie Real Steal? I would highly suggest it! Theres a boss with 2 heads )

Great progress! It is really cool to see this coming together. One thing I loved in the old school Mike Tysons punch out was Mac's coach before the fight and in between rounds giving a short pep talk and commenting on the boss. It was a great way to add story, build up the fight, and deepen the universe just a bit. You could use something similar to this to help make your bosses feel bigger than life before and during the fight. Something simple would go a long way. Great work as always and thanks for sharing!

the idea for keyboard and mouse Punch A Bunch: cotrols on: -keyboard: WASD to move (obviously) and shift for blocking(i don't know any other good way for blocking) -mouse: left button - left hand, right button - right hand the position of the mouse itself = the position of the upper body so you can use the same technique for attacks with controller and mouse this is just my idea and i hope Ponty can implement this ;) love your vids aswell!

The game looks amazing! The customisable items are very neat! I can see its coming out pretty fine! May I suggest maybe adding slightly different skin tones (varying from lemon yellow to orange perhaps?) Also, for this specific boss, I feel like the special attack is to fast for player to avoid it, maybe it needs to charge longer or to have longer cooldown. So far so good!
This looks great! I'm really loving the boss and the customisable items. The only thing I think could be improved here is that the bosses ground slam attack needs a way for the player to defend against it. Without a way to defend against, it looks like it can sometimes feel unfair. You could do something like making it parryable or if the player leans in a certain direction it misses them or something? Keep up the great work, you're killing it dude! :)

Make a Ponty boss with that Ponty helmet and his special attack is pouring alghortihm juice on to the floor and if the player steps on juice he slips off and falls.
Looks very nice! Some suggestions for consideration: 1. It would be nice to see when the boss would do his super attack so you can dodge it (if it is dodgeable) (maybe only in easier variations of bosses). Like a charge bar under bosses stamina or something similar. 2. Ideas for bosses powers: 2.1. One MASTER or BIG boss which has a combination of powers from those single power bosses 2.2. A boss with super attack which will extend an arm after short charge up. If it catches you, then it pushes you against the wall( maybe deals more damage or knocks you out of stamina) 2.3. A boss with slower but more powerful punches or faster but not that powerful 2.4. A supercharged punch which would ignore player block and deal damage through it Thats all I can think of in the real world boxing direction!
Sounds so much like the "Punch-Out!" series. Punch-Out is a great series to take inspiration from.... aaannnd just as I say that, he shows a click of Super Punch Out! LOL.

I reckon, in the settings menu, you shpuld add a graphics option, for it to be nicer on low end devices, and maybe add a 16 bit graphics thingy to make it look like the nice old sega fighting games!
I got an idea for the game: Basically the classes/characters would just be different body types like how the grappler type character of this game would be the chubby yellow dude and maybe you could make a slightly smaller class that’s also faster so he’s harder to hit but can’t block so he can beat you easily if the only thing you are focused on is hitting the enemy and that’s cool since it will teach you that even thought it’s in the title the game isn’t only about punching
And then after unlocking multiple special abilities, you could choose to equip one before fighting another boss. Then you'd have options if you were struggling on one particular fight.
LOVE that you're keeping strong and pushing punch a bunch going! How about a speedy boss that launches a barrage at the player but gets tired! Hit him during his tired phase!
Gaining the boss's 'Special Attack' after defeating them would be a nice touch, maybe to help with defeating the upcoming bosses which are more difficult?
Another cool idea would be to have a stat board at the end of the match that just falls on your screen and instead of showing how many rounds you won it could show like the amount of punches land and how much damage you did in normal numbers or in percentages.
This game is coming together really good !! Special attack ideas : *Spike blocking* : a block that damages you *healing* : boss drinks something (it could be algorithm juice ;) ) and heals himself a little bit *Blast punch* : a flaming punch that has a huge knock back *dash* : I think you had it for the player... now you can reuse it for the boss! *big swing* : boss does a 180 swing punch that knocks back player a little bit *double slam* : it's the implemented slam, BUT DOUBLE... Yeah... ideas went downwards after that. I hope this comment helps you :) wish you good luck!

Great job on getting the boss AI man, it looks like a ton of fun! I know that shit was super difficult to put together too, so glad to see you pushed through it!
You could make a boss that is a robot, with each quarter of his health taken down, he loses a part and gets eletrical particles, but gets faster with his attacks because of becoming lighter from losing those parts. For example, when the first quarter of health is gone, he loses a leg which decreases his move speed. Then next one is just a chunk out of his side, but that makes him lighter, giving him faster attack speed. Next quarter he loses an arm, but gets enraged and hits harder with the one hand, and the last quarter when you ko the boss is his head, which flies off from the punches impact. P.S. love your devlogs, keep them up!
Okay Ponty! I have come up with some varied ideas for bosses! *The should be a boss that can move faster and prioritises stun and move. * A boss that can headbutt * A boss that does a charge up and dash punch (could be super telegraphed and easy to beat) * A "second wind" boss who gains a big stamina and power buff at half health * A boss that can "launch his gloves like rockets that slowly move" * A boss that has springs on his gloves * A boss that has "lead" in his gloves and hits hard and stuns but doesn't really defend because of the weight of lifting them up * A boss with 4 arms ( too crazy?) * A twin boss (who tags in a twin with a different style at various health stages) *(Vampire boss) who's successful punches on you heal him, meaning you have to prioritise dodging *A tall skinny boss - keep some simple *A slam boss who creates shockwaves at a point in the ring that if you don't dodge you get knocked down and stunned *A sand boss who can throw a cone of sand at you that stuns and blinds for a second *Windmill boss who just tried to cheese you with windmilling arms but has to have big breaks for stamina STAY TUNED FOR MORE I WANT THAT PEGBOARD

Since the game is in a kids room, to get the look of stage lights of a large boxing ring one of the levels can take place in Christmas and use all the Christmas lights! The boss could be one of those boxing toys whose heads pop off.
Great vids: Here's my idea for a boss(es?): Tiny and Tubbo: two characters you have to fight at once- Tiny is small and weak but fast, Tubbo is sluggish but deals a lot of damage. Not sure how realistic this idea would be especially if the bosses are AI-based but maybe there could be a passive and aggressive state so that they don't both attack at once. Keep up the great work!
wow, looks soooo good dude! Some special attack ideas: An attack from the 'block stance' that pushes the player back/ makes them fall over. (a good one for a starter boss) Double handed uppercut. Roundhouse punch (basically a spin punch, could have like a tornado animation or something) Epik Headbutt. Sprint-Punch (bounces of the side ropes, for extra speed and power). Rapid punches (a series of wild rapid punches) Wild Clap (hands punch both sides of the face squishing it) RKO out of nowhere (just for the lols) Another idea that I thought could be pretty cool is when you beat a boss you also unlock their special move. You can choose a special move to use when you start a fight. However you can't just use the special move whenever you want, You have to charge it by landing hits in the fight. A special button or combination then activates it. Sounds tricky to implement but would be awesome.
This is looking so good! Just an idea for the boss fights to make them more user friendly would be to add counter attacks to their special moves, or even just a way to block them if you block at a specific moment
What about adding a chat system, you can choose some pre made texts to communicate with your opponent, to say "well played", "haha", "noob"... People will think that this was made for multiplayer only but oh no no no there is a super powerful boss but emotional who you can only beat by making him feel bad so he lowers his guard (you can hint it in the boss cutscene, one of the audience will say something bad and the boss will seem uncomfortable after that). AND OMG I JUST DISCOVERD YOU, YOUR GAME IS EPIC AND SUPER COOL ONE OF THE BEST INDIE GAMES I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
The Epik Board on the starting game menu is absolutely fantastic! Great idea! Boss gimmick wise, a boss that stomps the ground a bit before rushing you like a bull so you need to dodge would be good. Especially if you can have it charge into one of the ring posts to get knocked dizzy for a bit. Similarly, you might wanna consider creating opportunities like that for all your bosses. I noticed at one point you did a counter swing under the current bosses arm to knock it in the face as it lifted it's arm to pound. That would be another great window of opportunity moment if it instantly made the boss dizzy so you got a few good hits in for the great counter timing. Generally, most your bosses being setup in such a way to help players get good at different parts of the mechanics (dodging, countering, blocking, heavy hitting, ect.) with the final bosses being a combination of these techniques would be a design approach I recommend.
Oh, that AI enemy looked really great! And those hats/glasses/bandanas give so much of personalization. I got some adrenaline pumping during match watching haha! Yeah, AI topic have so much inspiration in it. Hope Ill dig it at some point too. Keep it up! Already looks like almost complete product!

Something I’ve been thinking of in the beginning, the ring should be like a rubber band: have some give to it and bend backwards a little. You could also end up using this as a boss’ special attack, having it spring along the bands or something
I am really happy with this progress so far! This game is convincing. I have some ideas too: - When the enemy is almost dead, there should be a cutscene where we humiliate the boss and take his epik things - bandana, thug life, etc. - There should be red marks where player/enemy got hit. For eg., if enemy hits player in the belly, belly turns red for a moment. (will this be any good?)

I LOVE where this game is going and Im super excited everytime you post a new devlog! Here are some of my thoughts: Maybe each boss has its special strength and weakness. For example, one can be a tank with strong attack and lots of health but hits and moves slower than you. It would be cool if the singleplayer campaign mode could let the player upgrade his/her speed and agility, strength, attack speed, wind up time for maximum attack, ...etc, through either skill points that they earned through fighting and finishing levels or by training is some kind of training room with like dummies or little games to strengthen that particular skill. I think that would definately make the player feel as though they really have control of the ball on where they want to advance. Levels or stages could be a cool idea I think if there were more than one enemy; maybe the boss can summon smaller enemies (in a balanced way of course so as not to be too anoying) so that there is a little bit more strategy to each stage. Cosmetics could come from completing specific challenges on a list almost like a battle pass which would be cool if you have ideas for skins and customizable things to create your avatar. Anyway these are just some thoughts of mine which would be really awesome to see some of them implimented in Punch a Bunch. Good luck!

This was worth the wait. Also I think it would be neat if there was a boss that was actually a ventriloquist dummy and once you kill it you have to fight it’s master which is a whole new kind of fight.
Idea: since there’s three different bosses for three different difficulties, you could make it so that when you win a boss battle you get a Heavy Weight belt medal. What’s even cooler is that in real life boxing when you get three of these you become a Heavy Weight Champion, pretty epic.

I really love this cartoonish special attack. It fits the artstyle sooo well. I would love to see more bosses, blowing uo different body parts.

Basically the classes/characters would just be different body types like how the grappler type character of this game would be the chubby yellow dude and maybe you could make a slightly smaller class that’s also faster so he’s harder to hit but can’t block so he can beat you easily if the only thing you are focused on is hitting the enemy and that’s cool since it will teach you that even thought it’s in the title the game isn’t only about punching
it would be cool to be able to "win" the bosses' special attacks
And then after unlocking multiple special abilities, you could choose to equip one before fighting another boss. Then you'd have options if you were struggling on one particular fight.

This was worth the wait. Your videos are really motivating seeing the progress you've made since the start.
Another cool idea would be to have a stat board at the end of the match that just falls on your screen and instead of showing how many rounds you won it could show like the amount of punches land and how much damage you did in normal numbers or in percentages.

Special attack ideas :
*Spike blocking* : a block that damages you
*healing* : boss drinks something (it could be algorithm juice ;) ) and heals himself a little bit
*Blast punch* : a flaming punch that has a huge knock back
*dash* : I think you had it for the player... now you can reuse it for the boss!
*big swing* : boss does a 180 swing punch that knocks back player a little bit
*double slam* : it's the implemented slam, BUT DOUBLE...
Yeah... ideas went downwards after that.

Great job on getting the boss AI man, it looks like a ton of fun! I know that shit was super difficult to put together too, so glad to see you pushed through it!
You could make a boss that is a robot, with each quarter of his health taken down, he loses a part and gets eletrical particles, but gets faster with his attacks because of becoming lighter from losing those parts. For example, when the first quarter of health is gone, he loses a leg which decreases his move speed. Then next one is just a chunk out of his side, but that makes him lighter, giving him faster attack speed. Next quarter he loses an arm, but gets enraged and hits harder with the one hand, and the last quarter when you ko the boss is his head, which flies off from the punches impact. P.S. love your devlogs, keep them up!

Okay Ponty! I have come up with some varied ideas for bosses!
*The should be a boss that can move faster and prioritises stun and move.
* A boss that can headbutt
* A boss that does a charge up and dash punch (could be super telegraphed and easy to beat)
* A "second wind" boss who gains a big stamina and power buff at half health
* A boss that can "launch his gloves like rockets that slowly move"
* A boss that has springs on his gloves
* A boss that has "lead" in his gloves and hits hard and stuns but doesn't really defend because of the weight of lifting them up
* A boss with 4 arms ( too crazy?)
* A twin boss (who tags in a twin with a different style at various health stages)
*(Vampire boss) who's successful punches on you heal him, meaning you have to prioritise dodging
*A tall skinny boss - keep some simple
*A slam boss who creates shockwaves at a point in the ring that if you don't dodge you get knocked down and stunned
*A sand boss who can throw a cone of sand at you that stuns and blinds for a second
*Windmill boss who just tried to cheese you with windmilling arms but has to have big breaks for stamina

Since the game is in a kids room, to get the look of stage lights of a large boxing ring one of the levels can take place in Christmas and use all the Christmas lights! The boss could be one of those boxing toys whose heads pop off.

Great vids: Here's my idea for a boss(es?): Tiny and Tubbo: two characters you have to fight at once- Tiny is small and weak but fast, Tubbo is sluggish but deals a lot of damage. Not sure how realistic this idea would be especially if the bosses are AI-based but maybe there could be a passive and aggressive state so that they don't both attack at once. Keep up the great work!

Some special attack ideas:
An attack from the 'block stance' that pushes the player back/ makes them fall over. (a good one for a starter boss)
Double handed uppercut.
Roundhouse punch (basically a spin punch, could have like a tornado animation or something)
Epik Headbutt.
Sprint-Punch (bounces of the side ropes, for extra speed and power).
Rapid punches (a series of wild rapid punches)
Wild Clap (hands punch both sides of the face squishing it)
RKO out of nowhere (just for the lols)
Another idea that I thought could be pretty cool is when you beat a boss you also unlock their special move. You can choose a special move to use when you start a fight. However you can't just use the special move whenever you want, You have to charge it by landing hits in the fight. A special button or combination then activates it. Sounds tricky to implement but would be awesome.
This is looking so good! Just an idea for the boss fights to make them more user friendly would be to add counter attacks to their special moves, or even just a way to block them if you block at a specific moment
What about adding a chat system, you can choose some pre made texts to communicate with your opponent, to say "well played", "haha", "noob"...
People will think that this was made for multiplayer only but oh no no no there is a super powerful boss but emotional who you can only beat by making him feel bad so he lowers his guard (you can hint it in the boss cutscene, one of the audience will say something bad and the boss will seem uncomfortable after that).
AND OMG I JUST DISCOVERD YOU, YOUR GAME IS EPIC AND SUPER COOL ONE OF THE BEST INDIE GAMES I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
The Epik Board on the starting game menu is absolutely fantastic! Great idea!
Boss gimmick wise, a boss that stomps the ground a bit before rushing you like a bull so you need to dodge would be good. Especially if you can have it charge into one of the ring posts to get knocked dizzy for a bit.
Similarly, you might wanna consider creating opportunities like that for all your bosses. I noticed at one point you did a counter swing under the current bosses arm to knock it in the face as it lifted it's arm to pound. That would be another great window of opportunity moment if it instantly made the boss dizzy so you got a few good hits in for the great counter timing.
Generally, most your bosses being setup in such a way to help players get good at different parts of the mechanics (dodging, countering, blocking, heavy hitting, ect.) with the final bosses being a combination of these techniques would be a design approach I recommend.
Oh, that AI enemy looked really great! And those hats/glasses/bandanas give so much of personalization. I got some adrenaline pumping during match watching haha! Yeah, AI topic have so much inspiration in it. Hope Ill dig it at some point too. Keep it up! Already looks like almost complete product!

Something I’ve been thinking of in the beginning, the ring should be like a rubber band: have some give to it and bend backwards a little.
You could also end up using this as a boss’ special attack, having it spring along the bands or something
I am really happy with this progress so far! This game is convincing. I have some ideas too:
- When the enemy is almost dead, there should be a cutscene where we humiliate the boss and take his epik things - bandana, thug life, etc.
- There should be red marks where player/enemy got hit. For eg., if enemy hits player in the belly, belly turns red for a moment. (will this be any good?)

Come to think of it, wouldn't it be cool to have a boss like Agent Smith in The Matrix, he could punch normally but when charged up (for example) he could sort of "piston" punch like a mad man. :O
When you said "i can't wait to implement this now into punch a bunch" it took me a solid 5 second to realize you were not putting a bunch of mice into a boxing game
WHAT AN INTRO, this video is bonkers!!
I LOVE where this game is going and Im super excited everytime you post a new devlog! Here are some of my thoughts: Maybe each boss has its special strength and weakness. For example, one can be a tank with strong attack and lots of health but hits and moves slower than you. It would be cool if the singleplayer campaign mode could let the player upgrade his/her speed and agility, strength, attack speed, wind up time for maximum attack, ...etc, through either skill points that they earned through fighting and finishing levels or by training is some kind of training room with like dummies or little games to strengthen that particular skill. I think that would definately make the player feel as though they really have control of the ball on where they want to advance. Levels or stages could be a cool idea I think if there were more than one enemy; maybe the boss can summon smaller enemies (in a balanced way of course so as not to be too anoying) so that there is a little bit more strategy to each stage. Cosmetics could come from completing specific challenges on a list almost like a battle pass which would be cool if you have ideas for skins and customizable things to create your avatar. Anyway these are just some thoughts of mine which would be really awesome to see some of them implimented in Punch a Bunch. Good luck!
Hi I just want to say that I found your channel so cool and what you have been doing with the game devlogs, hope to try your game when it's released! I wanted to make a game myself but have been holding and you inspired me to start!
This was worth the wait. Also I think it would be neat if there was a boss that was actually a ventriloquist dummy and once you kill it you have to fight it’s master which is a whole new kind of fight.
Idea: since there’s three different bosses for three different difficulties, you could make it so that when you win a boss battle you get a Heavy Weight belt medal. What’s even cooler is that in real life boxing when you get three of these you become a Heavy Weight Champion, pretty epic.
